Totally agree. The other critics fail to realize that not everyone has watched or wants to watch the original malayalam film. In fact lots of people dont watch south indian movies because of the language barrier and inconsistent hindi dub. Like vikram vedha 2022, Deva is a really good remake and a solid movie

Unfortunate how such a movie doesn't get its due..just saw the movie and theatre had a grand total of 10 people :( Went to watch Shahid and ended up seeing a great movie which slowly reels you in..hope it becomes a cult movie post it's netflix release! A mass plus class movie indeed, rare gem❤
If you have already watched mumbai police, this review would have been completely different, because the original was much better movie with much much better climax. And, I don't agree with one thing you said that we fail shahid. Every actor must have two skills- acting and script selection. Shahid is a fantastic actor with very bad script selection skill. Either he selects very bad script or he picks up remakes. And, remakes don't work anymore. Public lost belief in him that he would do good movies. And once public found out that this would be one more remake, they decided to skip the movie.
Yes true but unlike other recent malayalam movies, Mumbai police hasn't been watched by many. But ofcourse if original is being watched first , cant get convinced by another actor's acting happens with all remakes.

I have watched the OG during my school time and I loved it when I first saw Deva's trailer I was in shock it was very much similar to Mumbai Police and was the case. But I must say I'm not compairing Prithvi and Shahid at all. But Shahid did his best you can see conviction on his eyes and act he did a great great job I loved both the version however in OG you needed to use your brain a bit to understand a bit as many things or done on background which was not the case here ( not a -ve thing, but still wantes to highlight). And no doubtly the climax was better in the OG film. Still Deva is a one of those rare remakes where you stop comparision and appreciate the actors work just like how we cheered in Kabir Singh knowing it was a remake. Great job Shahid.
With so many original content on OTT, why would i want to spend money on a remake? The audience doesn't fail the actors- the actors taking a safe route and making remakes deserve to be a flop! I will rather watch a remake on OTT

I watched Deva last night, and I’m absolutely speechless. Shahid Kapoor’s performance was on another level-his acting, dance moves, the gripping story, and the suspense all came together perfectly. It was a complete package, and honestly, totally worth the money. For me, it’s a definite blockbuster!❤❤

The only problem I have is the gaslighting tirade they went on during the promotions of the film. Rosshan Andrrews is the director for both of them everyone knew it was the same film.
After watching deva . I was right that this is official remake of mumbai police directed by same director just changed some things , changed climax and added some massey elevations . But its not bad at all . One of the best remakes that you can watch in theatres Both prithviraj sukumaran in original and shahid kapoor in deva both have nailed it their characters

This is one of those cases where the climax lands on a grey spot and our usual movie audience would not accept such endings which might make this movie being good but a failure at box office. Indeed sorry Shahid for failing him once again as an actor.

Totally agree. The other critics fail to realize that not everyone has watched or wants to watch the original malayalam film. In fact lots of people dont watch south indian movies because of the language barrier and inconsistent hindi dub. Like vikram vedha 2022, Deva is a really good remake and a solid movie
Deva has been a fantastic movie. I havent watched mumbai police so deva's story was fresh for me and it gripped me the entire time.
a remake is a remake...Mumbai Police is a top notch movie...the only good part this movie has is BGM and Shahid's effort...nothing else to watch here...(everything which I said will make sense if you have watched the masterpiece Mumbai police)

If you have already watched mumbai police, this review would have been completely different, because the original was much better movie with much much better climax. And, I don't agree with one thing you said that we fail shahid. Every actor must have two skills- acting and script selection. Shahid is a fantastic actor with very bad script selection skill. Either he selects very bad script or he picks up remakes. And, remakes don't work anymore. Public lost belief in him that he would do good movies. And once public found out that this would be one more remake, they decided to skip the movie.

I have watched the OG during my school time and I loved it when I first saw Deva's trailer I was in shock it was very much similar to Mumbai Police and was the case. But I must say I'm not compairing Prithvi and Shahid at all. But Shahid did his best you can see conviction on his eyes and act he did a great great job I loved both the version however in OG you needed to use your brain a bit to understand a bit as many things or done on background which was not the case here ( not a -ve thing, but still wantes to highlight). And no doubtly the climax was better in the OG film. Still Deva is a one of those rare remakes where you stop comparision and appreciate the actors work just like how we cheered in Kabir Singh knowing it was a remake. Great job Shahid.

The only problem I have is the gaslighting tirade they went on during the promotions of the film. Rosshan Andrrews is the director for both of them everyone knew it was the same film.

After watching deva . I was right that this is official remake of mumbai police directed by same director just changed some things , changed climax and added some massey elevations . But its not bad at all . One of the best remakes that you can watch in theatres Both prithviraj sukumaran in original and shahid kapoor in deva both have nailed it their characters
