Customizing My Erin Condren Content Planners 💖📖 Vertical & Compact Vertical Frankenplanner

- It's almost halfway through the year, which means planner and system resets! One of my favorite things to do is customize Erin Condren planners by taking them apart and putting them back together - aka Frankenplanning.
Today, I'm frankenplanning my two main content calendars. I'll be using a vertical, compact vertical, and some notebooks in my Sarra Cannon content calendar. I'm using a vertical teacher planner and a notebook or two for my Heart Breathings content planner.
This process took several hours, but I'm showing you ALL the behind-the-scenes today. Enjoy!

I see your pliers struggle... You can get a set of jewelry pliers for under $10. They a slim needle nose pliers but they're rounded and don't have teeth so they shouldn't damage your coils.
"Because I want to." is the best and totally valid answer to why you would want to franken-plan. I think I will remember that when I am getting questioned on why I spend time decorating my planners every week. There is not always a need to excuse how you want to spend your time. Why did I watch this whole video even though I don't franken-plan? Because it was fun and I wanted to. Great video.

I can never get enough of planner setup videos. I would probably never do it myself (looks like faaaar to much work, and as much as I i love planners, I'm not busy enough to actually need or use them), but watching others do it is my favorite form of inspirational procrastinating!

It's always fascinating to me how differently we approach the tools we use. You often find a tool (planner page, particular spread etc.) and ask "what can I use this for?", whereas I'm often thinking, "I want a very particular thing - let me figure out how to make/find exactly the thing that's in my brain." (Sometimes it doesn't exist, and then I am very sad.) So fun to see how different brains work!
17:44 I don't have those planners, but I was thinking that instead of a binder clip for your archive volumes, you could "sew" a piece of yarn though the holes.
You wouldn't need a needle. Just dip the first 2-inches or so of the yarn in some school glue and twist into a point (you may have to hold it for a few seconds to keep the tip from untwisting. But as soon as it gets tacky enough you can let go). Place on a piece of wax paper or parchment or even a silicone mat to keep from gluing it to your table whilst the glue dries. Once dried use it like a shoelace to sew a yarn "coil" on your notebook. 💖🌞🌵😷
Oh my gosh, I've never tried to frankenplan before, but I did it with you today! I'm pretty excited about the results - I repurposed parts of an EC monthly planner and now I have NINE months for my Writing! Thanks for putting this out!

I don't think I have the patience to do a coil rework like this, but I love seeing how it would work, and gearing your logic/reasoning for what would or wouldn't work for you.
Videos like this are awesome for my own personal productivity, whether I'm at work or at home when I watch/listen, cause I use them as body doubling. Sarra's working, I should be too!

Not that I would be opposed to doing the frankenplannering (and I greatly enjoyed watching!) but this made me want to set up a travellers notebook because your pink pages at 4:27 are so pretty.
I'm a "One Planner to Rule Them All" kind of person, but you're FrankenPlanner videos give me so many ideas on stuff to add to my planner. Keep 'em coming. I'm open to trying out my own Erin Condren Frankenplanner. I think it would be kind of fun. I'm using an A5 binder for the first time this quarter but I'm always open to try new things, especially if it has to do with planners. Thanks for the video!
I have had minimal damage to my coils by using the padded pliers but for jewelry. They are a bit smaller and more precise.
I love this video and it’s length. I just signed up to be an EC insider! I’ve seen you in so many other people use their products, but I’ve never felt tempted myself. I love to watch this even though I don't frankenplan. So much fun to watch.
Since you do this so often, you should invest in the rubber jewelery pliers. Come with 3, and one of mine has two flat sizes to get the "crink" out of the coil. Made it so much easier. Got mine from Michael's!
Also.. you can order bigger coils online... you could do 6 months and notes pages. It would be big but it would turn easy and fit everything.
I love your planner videos! I love the concept of using planners but I have yet to find a system that works for me. Your videos help me determinr what may or may not work without having to buy planners to find out they dont work for me.
I love Erin Condren, but being able to Frankinplan without all the work and stress about the coil is what drove me back to Happy Planner. 😂

I live in Texas. And my husband and I can’t get anything to grow our tomatoes hardly make it through the season. I think it’s great you were able to eat fresh vegetables from your own garden. We will try again next year.
You should get your soil checked out. Check you tube for some garden videos on problems in the garden too. Some times it's just a bad garden year for your area. Keep trying. Good luck.

I’m actually giddy about the new EC teacher planner format! I’ve been using it as a blog/content planner for years and it took way too much time to reformat every year. I use the monthly spread for my post tracker. The weekly spreads are for my FB group/SM post planning and tracking. I use the checklist pages as my blog post task and Pinterest post tracker.

Could you take some blank pages out of your 18 month, archive planner so it would fit a 12 month coil? So that you can use that pretty 18 month coil elsewhere? 💖🌞🌵😷

totally different subject-watched the live actors version of the little mermaid and from the very first appearance of Ariel, I thought Sarra-she could be Sarra-not looks wise really but the energy and the singing made me think of you-made the story even better

I only have three EC items and they’re all different sized notebooks. I do like the compact vertical layout though. Hmmmm.
I wish the new Teacher Weekly Spread was something that was available in their regular planners! I would love to have all of those categories to plan, but I don't need all of the additional teacher pages they have in the planner 😅 hoping they offer that as an option some day!
I was rooting for a 3-month planner so you could use the smaller 'rainbow' coil without taking apart your beautiful creation ! I'm only 40 minutes in, but I'm sure it'll work out by the end.
Love to watch and get ideas but I don't see myself messing with the coils. I really love disk bound and would love it if Erin Condren put out a disk bound.
so, how and when do you use your HB90 planner?
I put all of my tasks into my HB90 planner on Sundays and I use the daily page to plan and track my days. I have several videos and series if you look back for things like "a week in my hb90 planner ". These content planners are essentially brainstorming/ strategic planning. I work through ideas and potential strategies in these notebook hybrids so I can get an eagle eye view of how it fits together. HB90 brings it all together as my actual plan and to do list. I have had some requests to show how they all work together so maybe that would be a help?

What types of pens do you use to write on your Sticker Guru stickers? I got the Sticker Guru monthly spreads for Q3 but all of my pens smear and it makes me sad haha
Use sharpie fine points! Not the sharpie gel but the actual sharpie original but in fine tip or ultra fine!
Does anyone know what brand that white out, and I guess tape/glue in the clear containers she was using at the 50-minute mark? I guess that's what they were?

It was interesting to see how you do them, but way too much work for me. There is definitely an appeal to having things exactly as you want them, but I would be so afraid of putting pages upside down halfway through or something. LOL

You might want to consider some jewelry making pliers.
