I didn't feel any awkwardness, everyone was interacting and playing off each other, when only one person can really talk at a time you lose some of the nuance of the conversation in person. There's cuts, and some parts are cut out for sure (at least there was one or two)
I am in Seoul now and even though acceptance of foreigners must have grown in the last years, it's still faaar away from any civilized countries. Just to mention any venues where foreigners are not allowed in.
