- This interview was in the "pre-show countdown" of the recent webcast of Todd Rundgren's recent tour of "A Wizard/A True Star". I won't be putting any portion of the concert it's self up, but the official archive of the concerts don't have this wonderful interview. Of course if a DVD of these shows is released and has this interview on it, I'll take these down. Until then, as far as I know I'm one of very few people who even saw this, let alone recorded it. The information is too valuable not to share with my fellow Todd fans.
Update: I've added subtitles to this segment of the interview, and plan to do all four segments soon. If you click on the "CC" in the viewer, you can turn them on and it even allows you to automatically translate the subtitles into a large number of languages, so you can share this with non-English speaking fans.
I don't follow Todd's career like I did in the 70's and 80's, but all 4 parts of this interview are just great! I always have admired Todd for his musical innovation, his intellect, and just all-around brilliance. He has always been on the cutting edge, and has one of the finest singing voices ever heard. Thanks for posting these.

OK, all 4 segments are transcribed and subtitled, which means that it can be automatically translated into any language. So the Dutch fans hoping to go to the upcoming show in Amsterdam can go to the "CC" in the lower right hand corner, click on the arrow, and select "Dutch" from the pulldown menu and get an automatic translation into Dutch.

I have no idea why it's not on the archive. Or why there was never a 1 gig archive of the second night in Akron.
I'm working on transcribing the interview, and will put up captions which will allow automatic translation into other languages.
Yeah, it's his album, he can re-arrange it if need be. There were only a couple of jarring moments where I expected to hear one song and I heard a different one. But now I've heard the concert order enough that it feels like the "correct" one now.
Todd is a rarity in the music world in his lack of desire to just cash in by doing the same thing over and over. He could have had a career like Elton John if he really wanted to, and have the same sort of mansion.
Man, I wish I could have made it to the shows in the states, and maybe perhaps there will be more later? It seems to be catching on quite a bit, and obviously a major point of Todd's career. Todd's taken to FaceBook word of mouth, etc ... Brilliant. I'm wondering if parts of this tour are coming out on DVD? This interview is obviously between live footage ... you can tell by the "thank you" at the beginning of one of the sections, and the fading-in live stuff at the very end. ???
This interview was from the "pre-show" during the webcast. They were cutting back and forth between the interview and excited fans waiting for the show to start. There will be a DVD release of this tour.
There are 4 shows coming up in California in early December, as well as several shows in Europe.
I'll try re-capturing it and re-encoding. Hopefully it's not on the original.
