"I couldn't kill them all for nothing." Damn that stung. Really made me realize, only the Careers in later years actually wanted to kill. These kids? They don't like it, but they want to survive. She basically has blood on her hands that she could never take back and now she had to accept that it was pointless
i’d argue that the newer ones didn’t want to either. they acted all bloodthirsty and then when it came down to it they weren’t- like cato in his end monologue for example
Careers were never fans of killing, they just wanted the glory of winning the games, which involves killing, bc they were taught their entire lives that that's the most important thing and something they need to do if they want to be successful in life and appreciated. Also, they don't choose to train, they start as kids so it's something their parents put them into it and if they do then they're obviously pressuring them to win and give the entire family a better life, making them all depend on how good you do. It was never a simple things, they were still kids and victims, humans, not even Katniss was able to hate them for real during the first book, she even said she couldn't even hate or blame Marvel for killing Rue.
@@spork.404 "One last kill. It's all I know how to do." Damn. Just....damn. I remember that line from Cato so bad. He knew he practically wasted his teenage years, training, just to die to the weakest district.
0:22 it's super interesting to see the District 1 tributes trying to escape the arena. In the other books, where it's set decades after this, District 1 is always known as one of the districts to glorify the games, where people volunteer and are willing to fight. It's interesting here seeing District 1 being some of the only tributes that were willing to try and escape, rather than succumb to the threat of being killed. It shows that back in the early days, no one wanted to fight to the death, including District 1.
That is actually the masterful move on snow side... Putting the districts against each other by giving some of them certain benefits or even better... Giving them a sense of control. That is exactly what made the oppressive system portrayed in the hunger games so effective yet so "weak".
Also if you were a more loyalist district who mostly was spoiled and only makes luxury goods then how will you know literally any survival skills? That is until the point where their are schools built to help train you and the Audiance begins having a bigger say in the outcomes of the games.
I feel so bad for wovey because she was just a kid and she just wanted to go home and she asked if the game was over with then dr.volumnia Gaul has to release her rainbow snake into the area.
I nearly ouked when sol died, imagine how it felt when she got stabbed in the back with the trident, fun fact, the digusting thing is that when she was stabbed she couldn't move her legs and get out or inside, because the trident broke her spinal cord and she was paralyzed 🤢
Ginnee / Sabyn’s death is actually on screen, in the scene where the peacekeepers shoot down the district 1 duo, and eventually chase marcus, if you turn your brightness up you can actually see a body near the door entrance
Only tribute deaths that are somewhat accurate to book, correct me if i get any wrong 0:08 Brandy 0:17 Ginnee and Sabyn 0:22 Facet and Velvereen 0:58 Marcus 1:15 Bobbin 1:27 Jessup Diggs 1:32 Lamina 1:41 Tanner 2:32 Coral
The only mistake I see is Sabyn, she died from a fall after escaping from the arena when it exploded, whereas in the film it is the explosion of the arena that kills her
Tanners is a bit off because he got the same placement in the book but once they killed lamina he started to dance around her body making coral angry at him for taking it too far so she and mizzen killed him
i agree, i think they totally fcked up the adaptation from book to movie and i think thats why so many ppl didnt rlly like the movie, the book was just so much better and i rlly hope they dont fck it up for the new movie
Aw man, Mizzen really hit hard. In his last moments you could see that he was still just a 14 year old kid. He put on this facade of being a cold hearted killer but really he just wanted to get home. Also i was so sure that his last word was actually "CORAL!!" but I guess not (im gonna headcannon that that was it tho)
I don’t know which was the saddest death in the sequel of the hunger games:The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes but I am so excited for the new sequel that will be released in November 2026 because the book will be available next year of march 2025.
It's going to be about Haymitchs games and I'm buying that book. My brother asked, "why? You know who won." I told him to shut it because it was a Quarter Quell and will have double the tributes and the small way they described it in Catching Fire had me interested. And if this gets Collins to write books about other characters winning their games, then I'm hooked.... imagine movies about Johanna, Annie, Finniick and Beetee's games. LET IT HAPPEN PLEASE
@@VegetaPrinceofSaiyans1Really? There is actually a fan made video of Haymitxh' games on toutube, which is really accurate to how it was described in the first book
I loved this movie 🤩
Ikr, it is underrated.
Disventure camp fan? Also fr
Otto is not off screen. it is during the scene when Flickerman is on the phone and everyone is sleeping. right before Snow gets asked to go into arena
Yeah but we can only see him when he is already died and get dragged by the pack

District 2 tried to, and that's the most favorable District
1 and 2 made a run for it. The careers hadn't been formed yet this early in the existence of the games
