Ironically a gatling gun would actually be extremely effective against jedi because it's basically a rapid fire slugthrower in terms of star wars weapons.
slugthrowers weren't actually effective against Jedi at all, as Jedi's deflection abilities came from general Force precognition, which allowed them so see attacks before they happened. They'd be just as able to dodge, telekinetically redirect, or vaporize the slugs about as easily as they could block blaster bolts
@@GeneralGrievous-1138 actually slug, throwers were much faster and more close to regular bullets in our world with slug throwers in general using the equivalent to shotgun shells, and the meaning, even if they try and block them with their light sabers they’ll still have to deal with the molten slag
@@maxwellkaufman4178 slugthrowers are the same as real-world firearms, and their speed didn't matter, because the Force allowed Jedi to block or evade before the shot was even fired. Most slugthrowers also fired solid slugs, i.e. standard rounds instead of shotgun shells. (Shotgun-style slugthrowers were much rarer in the Star Wars universe than they are in the real world.)
Additionally, 1. there are comics in which slugs melt on contact with lightsabers, but there are actually more sources that indicate that lightsabers just vaporize slugs and 2. lightsabers weren't the primary defensive tool of the Jedi. Jedi defenses come from the Force, and lightsabers are just a component of that.
In Legends and Canon, the only times slugthrowers were used specifically for Jedi hunting were in tandem with special slugs made of cortosis, which short-circuited lightsaber blades (and even then, that was about taking lightsabers out of the equation instead of killing outright.)

The government was armed to keep the people from plunging into anarchy and becoming chaotic, and the people were in turn armed to prevent the government from becoming tyrannical. Like Grievous just had a random original model Gunpowder Gatling Gun at the end of a hallway he would use as his last form of defense.
Blaster shots honestly are by a wide margin slower than actual bullets. So you'd really be putting that jedi reflex fo the test with them all lined up in a hallway with a gatling gun at the end of it.
Foolproof strategy if your strategy is something like that because as hilarious as that statement is, it is actually quite effective if you think about it. Especially if its an extremely long narrow hallway with nothing but solid walls and no cover stretching for a good football field length or so. Wait for them to get a quarter or half way down it as the guys up front start to think this is a real cramped hallway for such a long distance. Then the Gatling Gun rolls from around the corner at the end. GG
They either have to turn and run and if they have too many people then good luck with that whenever a hail of bullet spray starts pouring into the formation.
Best strategy at that point is to go prone. Play dead. Wait for them to come check the bodies all nice and close like then fire up that glowstick.
Or if its just a few, you either have fo try and rush the distance left to the gunner or retreat back to the other end of the hallway to revieve any cover at all to regroup and strategize. Either way better hope those lightsaber blocking skills are up to snuff because bullets travel at a higher velocity and fire rate than blasters. Only downside is that gatling gun only continuously fires so long as there is a steady feed of ammo and that string of bullets doesn't get jammed or fucked up in the feeder.
Grievous should get himself a 20mm Vulcan instead. Or that minigun that Swartsenegger had in Terminator 2. Good luck trying to block bullets fired so fast it sounds like someone clipped a playing card to the rim of a car going down the interstate. First you hear the bullets hit, sounds like firecrackers going off then you heat the rapport, if the gun is s good distance away.
Look up videos o thef A-10 Warthog Infantry Attack Aircraft. The gun they put on that plane is literally stronger than both of its engines combined. Its why it can only be fired in bursts because any amount of sustained fire from its Vulcan and it could very well stall its engines so it has to fire it in bursts.
Its not really a problem of gun. Just vibration created by it are not good for planes at all. Multiple mig-27`s suffered all kinds of damage by comparable canon. Also engine problems and windshield pollution was caused by smoke from rapid firing, even by less impressive guns like NS-37 on mig-9`s and 15`s, force of recoil have nothing to do with all these problems.
