Absolutely amazing live performance. No recorded track or lip syncing here. Just pure talent. Listen to the audience reaction as the song ends. Gives me chills.
Do you know anybody knows where I can find the sheet music for the rain to park and other things please let me know. I wanna play this song and can help me out of anybody. Speak soon please let them know.
On Sullivan's show most acts mimed to a recorded backing track, but the vocals, at least the lead vocals, would be live. You can tell the kids playing bass and drums aren't really playing.
@@tcanders123 Look at the whole recording of this appearance. John Cowsill, who later drummed and sang for the touring Beach Boys for about 15 years, plays a killer drum solo on the Four Tops "Reach Out". The audio and video may be out of synch but they are all for sure playing and singing here.
5 year old Susan Cowsill playing off-beats on tambourine is still better than most musicians these days. Love the whole band. Poor mom didn't even want to be there.
19 years old and I have a thing for old bands. I came across this song late 2022. This band was and still is one of the most talented bands I've ever come across. It saddens me that this father ruined so much for these great funny and talented artists. Even though 1-3 members passed I still hope they get the recognition they deserve. May god bring them lots of success for the time they are here.
So glad to see someone your age who appreciates these old bands. I am a college professor, and I get thrilled at how many of my students love 70s music.
I've got this video up several times. I love thier sound. It's horribly sad they weren't able to keep making music. I could just imagine how far they would have went..
I know that those were different times, and I suspect that the family was Irish Catholic, but why didn't the mother just leave him and take her kids with her? She certainly had the money to do so at that point, that is, unless everything was in the father's name.
Billy Cowsill R.I.P. Thanks for the beautiful memories of a better happier time... You were such a great talent, so humble, very down to earth kinda guy... Still lovin' your voice all these years!!! Your spirit is very much alive man, Billy Cowsill, may you rest in eternal peace, you are not forgotten, you were the heart and soul of The Cowsills back then...
Such a very talented and underrated group. Writing their own songs, playing their own instruments. They DEFINITELY belong in the Hall of Fame. Who decides on some of the shit they let in and not the ones who deserve it.
This group was one of the best in harmony and live performances. Mom had a lovely voice and the youngest boy John really showed his chops on that drum kit!
The Cowsills are a great example of the power of music. It is hard to believe that behind these wonderful, joyful vocals and harmonies, this wonderful family was abused by a tyrannical father! William "Bud" Cowsill managed the family and treated them with contempt and eventually squandered their earnings through bad investments. RIP WILLIAM "BILLY" COWSILL JR.
I wish o could post a picture of shoes i tie dyed for my niece and put I love the flower girl/ sweet and kind/ flowers in her hair / flowers everywhere awith flowers and hearts on em. They’re beautiful. Just a small tribute to a beautiful melldy❤❤❤
The harmonies on there, I dare say are even more solid than the actual recording. The amount of groove going on is just off the chart. Ahead of its time, even today.
This is one of my favorite songs of the late '60's, and it's a shame that most of the song footage turned out to be unusable because of the problem with the mics. I do agree with another comment in that you should post the rehearsal footage, because I too have heard that there were no problems with the audio in that one.
Yes, The Cowsills was the concept for TV's "The Partridge Family"(1970-'74), Little Tracy Partridge playing the tambourine just like little Susan Cowsill..😊
Oy. I can't listen to this enough ~ even if itz only the end of the song =:))) Just enjoying watching Sue on the tambourine, missing the rest on the 2nd chorus but not on the 1st 3rd or last💪 What a song!

Captures the flower power ethos of 1967 that was happening on the West Coast. Meanwhile, cities in America were burning with Newark and Detroit having gone up in flames that July. This was also recorded a few months before the very nationally tragic year of 1968. John Cowsill totally kills it on drums. Good job, man.
They are a great family and should be in the Rock and Roll of Fame ! Susan has a very pretty voice ! Thank you very much for all the lovely awesome videos of my favorite singers groups and skits !
no. Steppenwolf deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. Deep Purple deserves to be. The Guess Who deserves to be. There are lots that have been left off that deserve to be.
Thank god finally they are remastering these old classic performances. Why did it take so long! Still, these greedy corps couldn't even release the full performance, only this micro-clip. Seems like the only entity doing the right thing is THE MIDNIGHT SPECIAL, remastering and color correcting all of their old catalogue of truly LIVE performances (no lip-syncing like here and everywhere else).
They were/are a great band. Vocals are amazing and they played ,wrote. And they can make other bands music and sound so good. They did go through hell. But on the positive side they were a gift to all of us. Still performing, amazing. And they have their kids perform as well. What great youthful memories their music gives me. The Partridge Family was loosely based on the true life story of the Cowsills, who were a family rock group in the late 1960s. The father and manager of the group, Bob Cowsill, forced the young brothers and sisters to let the mother, Barbara, into the group, much to the kids' consternation.

Are you sure about that? If they were lip synching they did a good job but it's clear that the young man on bass is not playing.

masterpiece and very underrated! i am 26 as of now but i prefer the old music!

This is one of the best feel good songs ever. You can’t help but smile when you hear this song. The 60s truly was the best era of music.
Yup, I'll drink to that.
100%
Even being a Millennial, I couldn’t agree more. Beautiful music behind great talents!
There's some kind of magic in this song.. makes me feel young again 😊
0:16 There's something about this part right here that I really like. I don't know why.
One of the quintessential sunshine pop songs of the era. An absolute classic!
Go look up them doing "Hair!"
The talent of this group was undeniably off the charts I would've liked to see how far they could've gone if not for their sadistic psycho father...
As a member of the group " Continental Drifters" in the 90's Susan wrote a song called "Spring Day In Ohio" dealing with her childhood and her father.
Right
Oh yes indeed! I love them still. This song especially defined the 1970s. Susan's dancing was fantastic for such a small child.

It's an absolutely fab arrangement. The vocals were always so good with this group.

Sorry, they didn't write this or play on it. They did the vocals ... which are great!
The novelty that they were a real family obscured the fact that they were a talented band with some very good songs.
