great video Zedders , much awaited video for me , I really wanted to know how Brighton was playing this season, learned a lot from this video , excited for future tactical breakdowns
First half: "A lack of end quality really stopped it from being a bit of a cricket score". Tottenham's XG at half time was under 1, so they did well to be 2 up (not even including Brighton's chances).
How many times did Brighton's high line get played through? Werner playing poor passes? Maddison getting into good positions and not making the right decision. Not thinking Spurs had the better off that first half is a bit mad. Being 2-0 up was VERY deserved at that point
@@Zedders Wo, I didn't say Spurs weren't the better side in the first half, they were. 2-0 was deserved enough, but I disagree that it was only end quality stopping it from being a cricket score. The biggest miss of the half was Welbeck's first chance. It could have been 2-1 or 3-1 to Spurs. Or even 1-0 if Verbruggen hadn't had a nightmare.
I mean the cricket score but was hyperbolic ill give you that. The thing I don't like about using XG is it just registers shots, it doesn't register players not making movements that they should to get on the end of shots, also according to XG a shot ranks the same no matter who is taking it, which obviously isn't the truth. The difference between Spurs and Brighton's defensive performance in either half was Spurs were so mistake heavy, gifting Brighton chances. Brighton were exposed by the limitations of implementing Hurzeler's system
Ye I agree with you in some ways, Madison's goal should never have gone in. And welbeck should have scored, which basically would have made it 1-1. Obviously spurs were much more on top than that though. Xg isn't really a great metric to show that though because spurs had lots of chances that should have lead to goals but didn't even lead to shots, think of Werner's terrible cross in the first few minutes. These chances register nothing on xg because there was no shot. And yes obviously "cricket score" is hyperbole 😂
Not yet. Feels far too soon for that consideration and he could still at Brighton. Very early in the season to make a judgement like that. But the early signs are very good and Brighton are looking exciting and he's clearly adapting well to the league and the teams certainly very fun to watch. It's easy to forget though that "new idea manager" was what Ten Hag was when he was hired
A big drop down for him if he went there. From a quality, well run. club to a clown's emporium run by imbecilic gangsters. No, I really don't think so!
as a Brighton fan i think he will do fine this season, but imo anywhere else he would struggle to even keep the dressing room. not just because people seem to prefer having fossils for managers, but also because he isn't that charismatic and hasn't had to manage big ego players. i'd expect him to get a lot of disrespect at a larger club for one reason or another from, well, everyone. it's not like Potter had an easy time at Chelsea.
@@EanakbaI also think people underestimate the squad building Brighton do when bringing in older pros. People were laughing at us when we signed milner, but Welbeck, milner, lallana before, were not just randomly chosen. Lallana specifically has spoken about this in an interview. They were recruited specifically to be leaders and role models for the younger players. To show them the standards required on and off the pitch. And to grab the game by the scruff of the neck when it's going wrong (like it did for Tottenham). When you have great senior leaders like that it puts the manager in a great place to succeed. As welbeck even said in his post match, milner gave the team talk at half time telling the players they need to work harder in the second half. Tottenham lacked those leaders, at least on the day. And if you have players like that getting behind the manager (despite his age) then everyone else will fall in line.
