About Naetoru the fact that he lost against MKLeo's metaknight wasn't MKLeo disrespecting him, they had been playing together a bit on the practice sets of the summit and MKLeo struggled with his mains and the only character with which he was really winning was metaknight (I it was said during a stream/podcast/talk which was hosted by Glutonny and included Naetoru and other french/french speaking tops, or it was said during a stream at the summit I'm not sure).
Also pichu was buffed in the 11.0 patch. Added i-frames on pichu’s ears during nair and they reduced the recoil damage on most of his moves. Not tier shifting, but I genuinely think they seriously helped pichu’s viability. It was around March 2021
@@Kururuko Well, to answer your question, it is the Luminosity players giving their opinions on characters, and making a tier list out of those opinions. Not an official tier list.
@@Kururuko It's not a new official tier list by Luminosity Gaming. It's a tier list that compile the opinions of Marss, Sonix, Tweek, Mkleo and Maister.
I understand that some of Pichu's history was cut off for the sake of time, but there are some important developments in Pichu in Ultimate that was missed. First was Nietono winning Umeberua SP 3 in 2019, the first and only time a Pichu won a major. Another development, though less notable, was NaetorU beating MkLeo at UFA 2023 which was the best win a Pichu had until Yone_Pi beat Miya.
19:57 You mentioned the wrong shion. The shion miya lost to was a hero main (who i believe has been only playing for a couple of months at that point).
How about Nietono winning Umebura SP3 with solo Pichu without dropping a single GAME, making it not only Pichu's only major win, but also the only time someone ever won a major without dropping a game? (TBF it was all BO3, but still)
@@Eclipsmon8421 Genesis was a lot bigger and much more stacked. Also, didn't Marss win a major at one point without dropping a game, or am I misremembering?
@@cullenhutchison6528 True. I mostly disagree with the "and it's not even close" part, because I still think winning a major with solo Pichu (Void didn't even did it solo to reach second), without dropping a single game is really impressive. Also, let me check Marss' major wins to see if you are right... Nope, Marss did not win a major without dropping a single game.
@@Eclipsmon8421 Nietono's run was definitely impressive, but VoiD won just as many sets with solo Pichu as Nietono did, while at a much more stacked tournament with Bo5s (and ~4x the entrants, so 2nd place is excused). I still think it is pretty clear-cut that VoiD's Genesis run was Pichu's best performance, though that's not to downplay Nietono's performance.
@@cullenhutchison6528 solo pichu is more impressive since that means he beat pichus bad matchups with pichu. void is about performance. nietonos was about going above and beyond.

All this saving and shit just so that the Lumi team toss his ass in D+ as bottom 12 on their new tier list T-T
wait did they drop a new tier list??

Lumi tierlists suck anyway
Ristermice Documentaries are easily my favorite videos to watch on the channel, we NEED more 😂

Omg this video is so great, god work Rister!
About Miya at Sumabato SP 47, he lost early to another Shion, incredibly young hero player who had barely ever played offline.
Ooh a story! Thanks Rister!

this is absolutely correct, my bad. The "zss player" part wasn't in my script I was just on auto-pilot during the voice-over
The editing on this was perfection
1:25 VoiD's 2nd place at Genesis is still Pichu's best ever performance, and it's not even close.

Pichu is fun, can't believe some people hate watching them.
Pichu is the best. I pray he makes it into the next game even if he's terrible
The same way armadillo saved Lucario from falling into obscurity
18:20 what a weird kill screen that didnt even hit him
Probly the very first frame the F-smash was active, plus sweet spot plus some rage.
The europe slander was unexpected, we don't deserve this
IMO the title is a bit long id change it to “How this player saved pichu” but good video regardless
Meh. Let people learn what "obscurity" means.
