When I 90'moved to Washington DC back in the 90's, I knew that I was going to be travelling abroad. I switched my bank account to Citibank because I knew it had offices all over the world, had experience in multiple currencies, and could accommodate any request. If you're on RUclips, and you expect that a product or service is going to be bought by people other than Americans, despite having PayPal etc., you'll need a bank that can handle Euro conversions, etc., and one that you can rely on to handle questions, issues.

Great Information! Just don't transfer money from your personal account to your business (vice versa) becasue you open your personal assets (house, car, boat, funds, etc) up for lawsuits. Keep them separately.
I also have a question, as I am about to open a business account, do I have to use my SSN on the application in the "Authorized Signer's Information" part even thought I have an EIN? My wife is skeptical about that part.

Bigger banks have a better experience in my opinion. I have had smaller banks, online banks, and credit unions in addition to mega banks. The mega banks have larger limits on transfers ($100,000 free transfer compared to $2,000 at a smaller bank or credit union). Customer service is better at a mega bank, and the mobile app/website is usually better too. The only con that I have found is the fees. A credit union may be fee free compared to a mega bank but again what are you sacrificing to have a fee free bank. In my opinion it's worth it to be with a mega bank for the convenience and technology advantages.
Best advice I've heard. I already have a personal checking with Chase but I wasn't sure if I should open my business account with them. So I'll definitely be doing more research. Online banks tend to be more nimble and give better & cheaper service than a credit union, which in turn is better/cheaper than a local community, which in turn is better/cheaper than Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, etc. So if you could only choose one bank to bank with, choose an online bank that offers business checking services, etc.
My credit union actually has like 10-15 locations around the county so I guess it’s a largeish franchise and not necessarily a small business. They happen to have a great mobile app. I’ve been afraid of banks because of the reputation that they don’t care about you. But I will definitely look into banks in more detail with the information you shared as I open my business account this year!

I can't go in-depth into it as the best advice would be to consult with a local accountant knowledgeable about the type of online business you are operating and filing taxes for. Filing taxes and operating a brick and mortar business or one that primarily is based in e-commerce still files taxes the same based on the business designation like LLC , S-Corp or C-Corp. There is no special thing for online based companies and nearly all businesses have some aspect based in the digital space. The categories you're filing certain expenses could vary a bit but again, seek some professional consult on that is my recommendation. I actually don't do small business startup tips any longer on my channel so no new videos will be around the topic but that's the best suggestion I can offer.

Don't go based on hearsay, make your decisions based on your needs for the kind of work you plan to do in your business. Free Business Checking Accounts are everywhere and they're free for a reason. So, choose based on if the bank has the infrastructure you need to better run your business. And if you pick one and it doesn't work out, just switch.

lol It's definitely work but it's worth it if they WHY you're getting started in business is strong. You got this! I would say it depends on what you need when it comes to receiving payments from clients. If it's just a direct pay for a product or service, Paypal works just fine. If you end up needing something more complex, like automatically drafted recurring payments you will need to look into payment processing services that offer that.

I can't really offer advice on that as most banks will require a physical address and some also require different standards and requirements upon opening your account. If you have all of the business side of things setup, opening the account. documentation wise, shouldn't be an issue. And most have where they may need a physical address but you can use something else for mailing if you prefer but I would check with the specific bank you're considering first and ask them what they require.

Hey there! That's something I actually wouldn't share but I think if you're looking for a bank yoi should list out specific requirements you're looking for and just go for one.

Any of them can hold money or direct deposit, etc. but different businesses require different things. So, you have to research who'll best serve your needs. Online only banks are usually tied to some larger bank, so you still have to research who they're connected to and associated with and the fee comparisons because sometimes it's more beneficial to do business with the root bank.
I would like to know: if no bank around me has a business account without fees, & I’m sole proprietor or LLC, with my business name as my own legal name, could I simply open a personal checking account, as long as it’s separate from my “personal checking account”, or is that no good for auditing reasons?

You're an independent contractor so you are your business. You put your social and your name for trade name. Look at other videos on applying for the sba loan and they'll say the same thing.
Giselle Amor a business bank account is required. This is what I was told after applying with a personal account linked to receive the direct deposit. I had to go open a business account.
I wouldn’t suggest that. Several legal reasons but you want to separate monies credited and debited to your account for business vs a personal account. There are also other procedures and accesses internally and externally within the bank that you will benefit from having a business account vs a personal one.

My pleasure!! ☺️ I actually don't give bank recommendations because it depends on your type of business, you region and your needs in your business. Any of them can hold money or direct deposit, etc. but different businesses require different things. So, you have to research who'll best serve your needs. Online only banks are usually tied to some larger bank, so you still have to research who they're connected to and associated with and the fee comparisons because sometimes it's more beneficial to do business with the root bank.

I would like to know: if no bank around me has a business account without fees, & I’m sole proprietor or LLC, with my business name as my own legal name, could I simply open a personal checking account, as long as it’s separate from my “personal checking account”, or is that no good for auditing reasons?
I would reach out to an accountant or cpa for professional advice. I would still setup a business account regardless.
Though it may be recommended, Is a business checking account required to receive deposits from the SBA, if your business is structured as a sole proprietorship/independent contractor?

You're an independent contractor so you are your business. You put your social and your name for trade name. Look at other videos on applying for the sba loan and they'll say the same thing.
Giselle Amor a business bank account is required. This is what I was told after applying with a personal account linked to receive the direct deposit. I had to go open a business account.

I wouldn’t suggest that. Several legal reasons but you want to separate monies credited and debited to your account for business vs a personal account. There are also other procedures and accesses internally and externally within the bank that you will benefit from having a business account vs a personal one.
