Thank you for this content. I grew up as a kid playing under the bleachers there. Used to root for Ronnie Clontz and George Sutton. Of course all of it was fun to watch. Duane Lee, all the Sizemores, Charlie Reed, St.John Dossey. Man the 90’s was a great generation at that track. I even remember seeing the new generation of Tunnys playing around at the track when they were toddlers. Great memories. Oh and lastly.. the $3 bbq burger grill as soon as you walked in the admission gate.
I'm entering into this event! I love putting the cvp tanks thru hell! The just never die. They may break but never die. I bet that half those vics had over 300k.
I used to know a guy who raced the figure 8s, but with two people in each car. One person would steer, and the brake and gas were on the passenger side. Man that must have been wild.
I would have no issue being part of that! Even if just as a spectator! The best I got to see was a King Of The Hill Race on a oval. The guy who was 2nd put his car in the wall. They asked if he wanted a tow truck. " Tow truck? I can't even afford the F ing insurance!" I go with karting did a few seasons as a active racer/ track marshal. My weekends not boring ! Lap 1 turn 1 of club races was never boring! It's always the best when you can watch a incident free race! Hard to beat the last lap win! I managed a spin and win with slicks in the rain! For like .005 seconds I was the king of racing!
Boy, figure 8 races have slowed down a lot since the 70’s. Back then cars would be crashing hard in the intersection and cars be flying over one another. Now they play if safe.
Panther platform is the pinnacle of SO much! Kills me to see this! I built a 460, 5 sped and it was freaking crazy!! Rubber as long as you held it.the front ends are THE front end to use in a hot hot rod.
You would save money and get a better result if you didn't bother hiring a cameraman and just put a camera on a tripod aimed at the central X for the entire race.
No fucking wonder these are hard to come by at a nice price anymore. I use to be able to pick a perfect one for 400 bucks, they want 2000 for a pile of shit. SOrta hurts to see this though, The Panther platform is my favorite late model platform
If they used their indicators and kept their distance, there woulod be fewer crashes. These drivers will never pass a driving tst here in England. August, 2023.
Bruh they are gonna need to quarantine the whole stadium after this. For sure this is how it spreads. See Italy/Spain playing a soccer game which set off a massive chain of infection
They are chickens. Back in the 70's at the State Line Speedway in Post Falls, Idaho, we see crashes a lot in the same races at the intersections including the leaders. That is part of the figure 8 races. Now, we should call this Powder Puff racing like they are a bunch of women driving.
As with the other comments; in the late '70's - early '90's, Watsonville Speedway in central CA had some of the best figure 8 racing on dirt, where it belongs. Tap the brake, cut the wheel and slide the back end just enough through the X to barely avoid contact and, if not...oh well! This video is the homogenized version of what it should be.
@@hammerheadracingmedia3823 Agreed on this version. On dirt back in the day it was awesome! I raced the 8 for two years. Then I was track photog for several years after that. Lots of action!
I used to watch these figure-8's back in the mid 70's at the Sunshine Speedway in St. Petersburg Fla.. They never get old !!!

Man!!!!!! Even for just regular old cars, there's a hell of a big crowd of fans.
This is like ESPN 2 when I was growing up.... Complete with watching Ricky Rudd in the Tide machine.

>ThrrREE WIDE in the turn number... whatever the hell this is
sums up the video quite nicely
So that's what happened to all the crown vics
If this was Europe it would be carnage!
I was thinking exactly the same, in a UK race half the cars would be wrecked in lap 2. Would be no braking.
"Into turn number...whateverthehellthisis" 😂😂
When the 17 was on fire would have been a good time for a Ghost Rider joke
Freakn awesome. Keep it up guys. love it guys
Dont give cleetus mcfarland any ideas lol
Hell Yeah Brother!

Chicken shits hitting the brakes to avoid collision in the intersection

Bruh these guys need to calm down the guys just thought that the race was held this week
Let's just coat the brakes with foam..
Everybody slows down in figure 8 racing, it's not even fun to watch anymore
