    Awesome explanation. I always wanted to pronounce this correctly, but always just mixed "dal" and "ayin". After seeing your sketches, I was suddenly able to make this sound authentically without any effort. Amazing!

    Jazak Allahu khairan for another outstanding lesson! SubhanAllah! I was taught that the tongue should be pressed to the gum line on the left side (above the upper molars) to say it properly. So, this is a different technique. One of the Prophet's (saw) companions could say it perfectly from either side, so I've been told.

    I've notice with Pakistani and many other people that they pronounce it with letter a "Z" sound almost like a heavy Dzal. The closest to English is probably the word "dunk" or "dad"

    • @imrantahir1678
      @imrantahir1678 3 года назад

      Dunk helps a lot. JazakhAllah khairun

    • @HashimAziz1
      @HashimAziz1 3 года назад

      Both dunk and dad are daal, not dhaad. Closest in English is probably "the" though even that is not close enough - hence why he said it's a unique sound.

    Some ulama says Arabs forgot the mahrac of "ض". Something wrong in this video.
    İbnu'l-Jazarî (d. 823/1429), Imam Shatibî (d. 790/1388), Sheikh Izzuddin ar-Resa'nî (d. 661/1263), Abu Amr ad-Dânî (d. 444/1052), Jamaluddîn Ibn. Malik el-Harîrî (d. 516/1122), Sheikh Jamâluddîn (ö. 762/1274), Muhammed b. Ahmed b. Jabir el-Hevârî (d. 780/1378)
    Those ulama wrote specific books for the letter "ض" can be confused with "ظ”
    Your pronunciation of "ض" is a clear “d” and cannot be confused with "ظ”. Either the ulama wrote for nothing, or you are wrong.
    Edit: Also Arabic called as "Lugatu'd-Dad" because of the unique mahrac of "ض" . If this mahrac is so simple and not unique like letter "d" then what is the point of calling Arabic like that?

    Brother when I pronounce the letter ض I don’t find myself able to do it the way it is taught. I cannot apply pressure with the sides of my tongue. However when I pronounce it, it comes out sounding right. I am a native speaker. I know that doesn’t necessarily matter but as a nativr speaker I try to modify my pronunciation to improve it with whatever knowledge I already have of pronouncing the sounds of the language but I cannot seem to achieve what you and others are teaching about the letter ض.
