  • It's that time of year again when old red legs hatches in great numbers! This is a very easy but extremely effective bibio dry fly pattern that has worked for me for decades. Also some very neat techniques for making the hairy red back attractor legs and a segmented foam body.

Barry, just another beautiful fly and masterful technique. The ease in which you handle these materials and attention to detail keeps me striving to get better every time I attempt to mimic your creations. You are such a wonderful teacher!

    Great Video and pattern Mr.Clarke
Hello from the Yellowstone and Black Hills valleys.
We had some unbelievable Char (Brook Trout where we come from) fishing using a elk hair mouse this spring when we went way North into Canada and fished the rivers and streams connecting lakes....it was an absolute blast ! We had only heard of Brook Trout growing that big and oh so beautiful...finally got that off our bucket list !
    Cheers my Friend.

Hi Barry - I notice in your videos you always tend to use 14/0 thread (obvs various colours) can I ask why, that fine a thread most of the time, not a complaint am just interested. thx

Hi Kevin, Sheer is a lightly waxed fine thread that is very strong and is available in all the colours needed. The super fine thread creates little build-up making flies less bulky. It is also cheaper than just about all other threads, so you get a lot of thread for your money.
