This theme is my fav of all of the seasons...I had such an awesome time at the 30th Dallas Reunion back in Nov08! Susan Howard, Charlene Tilton and Linda Gray were dolls! I am a true and loyal fan to this show! Grew up watching it with my parents and never missed an episode:)
This theme song was composed beautifully...I give two thumbs up all around for the cast and crew, sure it wasn't easy keeping up with the demands of overall production....
If your over 40 this must bring back great memories. Makes sense too. Cause in the late 70s the suadies embargo Carter with oil. Which caused any oil to be valuable. So thrlats where the Texas oil boom may have come from.
Larry Hagman had a liver transplant in 1995, after years of heavy drinking, his liver gave out. He was very thin when they filmed JR Returns in March of 1996. RIP Larry !!!

When Dallas was in the prime of its life and Thursday nights on CBS belonged to Lou Stepp Productions (Dukes of Hazzard) and Loromar Telepictures Production (DALLAS, FALCON CREST AND KNOTS LANDING)....They owned Thursday night's in the 1970s, 1980s and the 1990s; especially on CBS. Back in the good ole days!
One of the greatest TV shows in modern history. I would suggest the producers do some soul searching because coming up with a replacement for JR Ewing is a next to impossible task! Its time to bring Pamela Ewing back!
Man .... this theme sooo reminds me of my childhood! This show was aired in Bangladesh back in the early '80s when I was a kid :) I remember only being allowed to watch the theme .... and not the show back then coz my parents declared that the show was for "adults only" :-) I used to LOVE hearing this theme!! ... and since then ALWAYS wanted to discover Dallas! :-) lol
And, don´t forget, he was able to work with his closest friends as JR Ewing, the part he loved and created so well. So glad he didn´t ended as a long term nursing case.
@@daviddavidson8050 yes jack Ewing was a great character and was obviously a bobby replacement. Bobby coming back to the show meant they has nowhere to go with him...dack Rambo and Larry Hagman did not get on tho.

I lived right up the street from those two gold towers at that time. That entire area looks totally different now............especially Central Expressway. Living in Dallas was amazing during the 80's.

@tubedudeT2000 Dallas the best city in the world? I find that hard to believe. It hardly even looks like a city, more of a large surface parking lot. Maybe I'm missing something here because I've never visited the place. Closest I've been was Atlanta which was plenty dull.
Believe it or not, it was shows like Dallas, that gave my mother and I some semblance of a relationship. We kind of bonded over Dallas, and other great TV shows of this era. Of course, that's from my own perspective, so I'm not sure how she felt about it. There were lots of things we couldn't talk about, but mother and Teenage son found some common ground in Dallas. I laugh now, but who cares what the vehicle was? It worked.
Love this version of the credits (except for the voice over as the DALLAS title appears,sounds like a chesty person saying J.R.) Other than that..Brilliant thanx for posting

Victoria told the producers in 1985 that she wanted out by the spring of 1987. The producers did not listen, they should have given Pam a funeral, instead of keeping her a live.
I always wonder why they added dack Rambo to the opening credits? Don't get me wrong I loved jack Ewing and untill bobby came back it looked like he was going to be a main character for a few seasons however they knew he was leaving half way through this season so why add him? If anything he should had been added the season before when he had all the big storylines.????

Guitar, orchestration, strings -- as far as theme songs go, this was one of the most complete ones.
