If you mean it on the 4th move, after 1.d4 f5 2.Bg5 h6 3.Bh4 g5 4.Bg3, here the continuation ...f4 would be a mistake by Magnus, as it ignores the strong and only good move for White, 5.e3, where if Magnus were to play fxg3, he would lose to the checkmate in one move Qh5#. So Magnus wouldn't be able to capture the bishop, and would just have wasted his time pushing pawns in the opening, and end with most of them overcommited, and still, having all of them on dark squares, the light squares would be weak for him. Back in the position, after 4. ...f4, Stockfish 17 evaluates the position as winning with +2.0 for White.
Why didn't Magnus push the f pawn to trap the bishop?
Same exactly what I'm thinking about.. he's toying his game against his opponent
Magnus gives false hope often. Biggest troll. Step to him in a real tournament, he will become a boss playing for reals.
We all know that was about sending message😂
When its about online, magnus just doesn't care and clowning around.
