Your garden is getting beautiful! I think would be gorgeous to have a water feature in your front garden bed, and would help with the noise from your busy street
Hi Janey, what a difference a year makes! Wow everything looks so different and beautiful. I have so many of the same trees and plants as you do. Just to let you know your Atlas Cedar is called a Serpentine A.C. I am in SHOCK to hear that Annies is going out of business! What a total drag!!
Beautiful, beautiful! You've made so much progress! I live in the thumb of Michigan so our outdoor gardening season is over!!! All of you higher zone gardeners give me something to watch throughout our cold months! 🎉😅
I cannot get over how absolutely gorgeous the zig zag bed is! It looks like it is on steroids! Aren't you glad you kept it! You and Jason have gigantic bragging rights, Janey! Everything you've done is simply marvelous ❣️❣️👏👏
Janey, question: have you considered planting a desert willow tree? They have gorgeous funnel-shaped blooms in the summer and are related to your El Niño! They bloom six months of the year and are native to the drier parts of CA, Texas, Arizona, and the southwest. I know you are in search of great best for the west plants that are water wise and prolific bloomers, and I think it would be a great addition for you.
It all looks amazing You all did an amazing job out in the front. Love Love the zigzag planter, I wouldn’t change it. I’d put the daffodils in at center garden aligning the dry bed area that’s where I would put the daffodils. I may be tulips too. I think that would be beautiful. That’s just my opinion but it all looks so beautiful. I’m so glad I’ve been following you ever since you guys moved there and watch your garden grow. Oh and Robby the weeping willow oh it’s just beautiful. I remember how skinny it was and now it’s filling out so beautiful.
Your garden is amazing after just a little more than one year. You and Jason should be so proud. I bought two El Niño Chitalpas this Fall because of your raves about them. 😊
Janie, This was such a helpful & interesting video. Loved that you described each plant & tree and explained what works well together. And, putting plant tags up on the screen is especially helpful as well. Your landscape is coming along & looking wonderful. So much accomplished in a short time! Amazing! Thank you for sharing! Linda in Oregon
Your ZZ planter looks so big and full... the purple fountain grass especially... a nursery in MT Shasta gave me 2 of them said they were annuals and would die soon, but they are doing great just hope that they survive our winters here.
You and Jason have done such a wonderful job with all of your garden. Monty tries to help too! 🐕🦮It is so beautiful with all of your colourful plants and trees. I know how expensive that large trees can be. I am trying to find some more cheap Japanese Maples. I can grow small trees and they soon grow our subtropical climate in Australia. Have you thought of planting some Liquidambar trees Janey? The have such beautiful leaves and gorgeous autumn colours, as well as being a different shape? They would love your climate as you have a longer cold period. If you get medium to small sizes they will grow very fast in your warmer zone. Your Crepe Myrtle is coming along well too. You and Jason must feel so content and at peace with how well your house and garden are turning out. You are such a lovely couple who work so well together. Thank you for sharing your gardening journey with us viewers. 💚🌺🌲🌼🦋🍁🌳
Everything’s looking amazing! Just an idea. Why not put some arches with the Eden climber over the orchard garden walkway? I think it would look awesome and help mirror the shade garden arch.
Stunning transformation - your hard work is paying off big time! Take your time, enjoy the process. Excited about Monty's upcoming obedience lessons. He is such a handsome guy, and brings a lot of life to your home. Be consistent with him, and reinforce the behaviour you want. He's such a wonderful addition to your family. Best from Ottawa, Ontario. Well done, I really enjoy your channel, and continue to learn so much...
What you have accomplished in only one year is incredible!!! It’s coming together so beautifully!! I mean jaw dropping amazing!! Even things like your zigzag planter….. I would have ripped that out before I did anything else…. But WOW! You have made it work so well! It adds so much dimension when you have a pro such as yourself to plant it up in a way that makes it truly shine!!!
Hey Janie! I love your channel and am learning so much! Regarding your front door decor, it might pull it together if you used a wide buffalo plaid ribbon bow around each tree trunk. Just a thought. I love buffalo plaid and it speaks "fall" to me. Thanks for the great content!!
I love your videos and watch you daily. When I lived in California we planted hydrangeas in the shade, successfully and they brightened the area. You inspire!
I am SO sad that Annies Annuals has gone out of business! I have purchased so many wonderful plants from this great nursery over the years! I particularly liked the way I could discover plants that were totally new to me that performed well in my garden. I wonder what will happen to the plants in their inventory?
Everything looks beautiful! The trees made such a difference. Looking at the before picture, It's incredible how much you have done in such a short time period. Good luck with the gophers. ❤M
Wow!! You are so much braver than I regarding placement of trees in proximity to the septic drain field!! What a wonderful transformation in a short time period!
Your property is looking so beautiful…so much fun to watch! The trees look awesome. You and Jason have made such a transformation. 💚 And of course, I love seeing Monty the Monster. 😂
The front garden looks wonderful! If you cut your transplants back it will give the roots a better chance of thriving. Just ask Jim Putnam! The iris needs cutting back now. They like it dry but the raised bed may be too dry. I’d plant them in other areas for spring bloom beauty
I agree. The iris’s also look like they are planted too deep. The rhizomes like to be exposed and only the roots should be buried or they will not bloom.
Hi your gardens are becoming beautiful your dream is coming true! There are so many flowers and trees I like can you give the zones info when you post the tags? The tags only have the exposure and mature height info. Thank You
Your newly planted trees have added so much beauty to your front yard. It’s incredible how your outdoor spaces have changed for the better. Way to go Janey and Jason! 👏🇨🇦
The garden is looking so beautiful. I love these Chiltapas. I ended up getting 5 here for Central Florida and they held up so well in the last 2 hurricanes. I cant wait for mine to bloom. 🩷
That tulip poplar is good at throwing seeds around. I have one outside our fence. Every spring, I have to pull out a lot of seedlings from the lawn and garden bed. I can see they're everywhere in abandoned fields too. They definitely love our 7a Eastern climate.
Amazing! I have learned so much from you, Janey. Today I learned about many plants that I hadn't known about before! I'm in Iowa 5B but many of the trees and plants you mentioned will grow here as well. Thank you for sharing your passion and knowledge of gardening. You are a blessing!
Crazy amount of work this past year! Love following your progress. Regarding your entry, maybe just go with the more saturated colors of the planters by working in some darker pumpkins? That would also provide contrast to make your gorgeous cornstalks pop.
Janey, you know what you need? Liriope! You should line the driveway with it, use it as a border. It would be stunning! I started with one plant that multiplied and divided it, let it grow a year, then I’m going to divide it again, until I can line the driveway around my island too…both sides.
So gorgeous! Everything is growing and evolving. I know it’s been a busy and crazy year for you (to put it mildly) but wow, look at what all you’ve accomplished in such a short time. It’s a completely different property from where it was 12 months ago.
love the rose arch are you planning to repeat it? i presume once the rose covers the arch they will provide shade, maybe you can grow your hydrangeas here
wow l've been waiting for your front yard show with all the new planting looks great it is going to be wonderful next year as things fill in as they do 😊 janey you worked so hard this year it going to be nice to slow down alittle give you more time with the family and friends 😀
The Chitaloas are gorgeous! I think you need many, many more, so much color! I hope you put a tree in your "shade garden, so it really will be a shade garden, as well as your beautiful "sunroom", so you can enjoy it year round . Would love to see more projects in it.
I know you love your annuals. Have you ever tried pentas? I think they would give you the “look” of hydrangea, but with an annual that absolutely loves the heat!!
My plumbago isn’t preforming well this year. Last year I loved it so this year I planted three more. Any tips for more blooms? Yours is stunning! 💜 9a costal Alabama
Wonderful overview of all you have done and plan to do in the front! You are so well spoken. Still hoping for the Monty cam, lol. Maybe after training. ❤
I love you garden tours. Thank you! Could you give the growing zones of your plants and trees? Many of your plants I can have in my zone (6b) but many I can’t. I still enjoy seeing them anyway! ❤
A Mirror would be cute behind the arch . Yard is looking so nice . I remember the beginning . How are plants outside fence I ask before u never showed . ❤️❤️
Here's a pink selection of your Ladybird Sunglow; SHOWY PINK EVENING PRIMROSE Oenothera speciosus Rosea from High Country Gardens. Or maybe a BISHOP'S FORM HERONSBILL (ERODIUM) Erodium x variabile 'Bishop's Form' also from High Country.
I live in central FL and you inspired me to get a chicklet orange Esperanza this summer and mine is doing absolutely amazing as well. I’m zone 9b and mine as literally bloomed through both hurricanes and is looking amazing still.
Love the tour! Please can you show us a picture of Evolvulus Blue My Mind when the flowers are open? For the last three garden tours they’ve been close
Looks great! beautiful. Since the path doesn't seem go towards the pavilion/gazebo... how will you get to the gazebo? Will you put a path behind it going towards the house?
I always thought you cut back transplants so the energy went to root establishment? I just moved some plants for the first time and have wondered if I should. Wondering about your agastache and since you didn’t maybe I should not cut mine back. So glad to find your channel! I'm in zone 10a, on the peninsula. Sooooo sad about Annie's. That's been my place of solace for 12+ yrs. Hope someone buys it. Btw, do your Summerific hibiscus drop foliage in winter? I have Candy Crush in my PW cart online, contemplating 😊
Those tall grasses in your zigzag planter would be perfect to hide the propane tank.
A bench under the rose arch in the 'long border' could look inviting to observe the center island.
or a mirror 🪞 might look nice too or art bird 🛁 bath
@@CharleneFerguson-wg9mxI was also thinking a mirror would look great under the arbor!
Your garden is getting beautiful! I think would be gorgeous to have a water feature in your front garden bed, and would help with the noise from your busy street
Everything looks lovely. Consider planting your front porch trees out in the landscape. They will be much happier.
Yes, the Japanese Coral Bark Maples need more light.
Janie you and Jason have created a miracle. I am seeing your vision now and it is stunning! I can't wait to see this garden fill out and mature
I am in awe of how much you and Jason have accomplished in a short time ❤

Iris need to have the top of the bulb exposed in order to bloom.
Yes, yes, yes...rhizomes need the sun for blooms.
@@joycerichardson1810came to say same.
I did not know that, thx!@@joycerichardson1810
This is why I read the comments, learned something new.😄🙏
And they usually don’t bloom the first season after transplanting.
Hi Janey and Jason, Wow, those trees and their placement really anchor and define the outline and theme of your landscape ! Bravo!👏 🏡🥰🇨🇦
Everything is really looking beautiful in your front gardens, Janey! I love your zigzag planters! 💗🌸
Annie's annuals will be so missed. Your distant landscape, beyond the new give a vision of Awesome!
I know everyone is saying pretty much the same thing, but Janey what you have done in a year is just amazing!! Deanna
19:03 this tulip tree is going to look amazing. First-hand experience. ❤
Solar lights would be nice along your pathways too. Love the October walk through.
Such a transformation in just one year!
It's going to be so much fun watching your garden, mature and all the new plants
Beautiful, beautiful! You've made so much progress! I live in the thumb of Michigan so our outdoor gardening season is over!!! All of you higher zone gardeners give me something to watch throughout our cold months! 🎉😅

The trees are really going to make your property so much cooler in the summertime. Hope they all root in this winter
You two have done so much. Beautiful job ❤
Your garden is looking so good so quickly but next year it will be amazing! Can't wait to see it come alive next spring!

What a huge difference!!
Your garden is being transformed into a beautiful place. Janie, what color did you use to stain your fence?
Love Love Love Ornamental Grass ❤
You and Jason have done such an amazing job! 👏👏👏Happy Canadian Thanksgiving Monday ( October 14th). We sure have a lot to be thankful for! 🇨🇦🍁🦃
Crazy amount of work this past year! Love following your progress. Regarding your entry, maybe just go with the more saturated colors of the planters by working in some darker pumpkins? That would also provide contrast to make your gorgeous cornstalks pop.
Maybe move the corn stalks behind the
