My state has a law that says if you show up in a doctor's office or hospital pregnant at 12 or 13 you will be taken into protective custody and your family will be investigated.

The peer pressure to have sex underage is far worse now than when I was 13 (41 years ago). I was above the age of consent the first time. I had my first child at 26 and second at 29. It's hard enough when to raise a child when you are married and financially stable. I can't imagine what it would be like to have a child that young. At 12-13, I was still doing fun stuff like rollerblading and long cycle rides. I was having too much fun being a kid.

Yes, in the beginning she still lived under their roof but she still wanted to do everything without their help and she made her own money through social media. in one of the only ways a 14/15 year old could and took on the role of a mother and not as a teenager. Why should she not deserve the same respect that other mother's get? There are mothers in there 30's that do a terrible job at parenting. Age doesn't determine how good of a parent you can be nor does it determine if you should be given respect.

A proud moment for this dad was when I was giving my daughter's friends a ride home from high school. They were all freshmen 13-14 yrs old. One girl was saying wasn't it sweet that one of their friends was going to have a baby. My daughter jumped in with " yeah, real sweet. She's 14, and will miss out on all the stuff 14 yr olds get to do, all the sleepovers, dances, proms, class activities, and graduation because she's going to have to take care of that baby for the next 18 years." She WAS listening. I couldn't have been more proud of her.
I’d be more impressed if you told us that after your daughter said that, she encouraged her friends to continue to remain good friends with the girl. And talk about what they could do to support her emotionally. It’s horribly isolating.

We live in a society that seems to promote it. We went from "My Super Sweet 16" to " 16 and Pregnant". I know MTV probably wasnt trying to promote it and was trying to portray the hardships of having a baby at an early age but they continued on with some of those girls stories...why?? They all continued to have more babies in their teens and or before finishing high school. Why?? After these girls initial episode it isnt about teen pregnancy prevention anymore and seems to be just portraying kids leading everyday lives. Weird thing is that its obviously aimed at a younger demographic because i dont know any adult that would find anything remotely interesting or intriguing about children having babies and living overwhelming adult lives that they werent/arent ready for.. Its sad actually. In my opinion, MTV should have always just stuck to what it knew and did best...Music videos. Lol

You've got that darn right! My parents best friends son (Todd Erb of Norwich, CT) was screwing me from the time I was just a little girl! By the time I was 17 and he then became my stepbrother it had turned into full on rape! Yes, when our parents switched partners, both marrying the other, he'd come into my bedroom almost nightly. When I wasn't able to get pregnant at 25 I even asked my Dr if it had anything to do with what happened. He ended up denying that he ever touched me when I finally told my parents hoping someone would make him stop. The pain he inflicted on me went much deeper than the physical pain from my then undiagnosed endometriosis. I've had nightmares my entire life and here I am well into my 50's and started suffering from the stress of a lifetime of trauma after just seeing him and his family at both of our fathers funerals. Both my dad and my stepdad (his father) passed away just 5 weeks apart from each other. Screwed up families and screwed up children can cause a lifetime of pain and I wish someone would protect the children! I NEVER would have thought this SOB would STILL be renting space in my head for the rest of my life! 😭😭😭

My only advice to young girls who are sexually active. Remember that your consequences just don’t affect you, but it affects the people around you as well. When you’re 13 you can’t get a job you can’t get the resources as someone who is much older. So in the end, it’s a burden on your parents or your family members to provide and take care of that child when it’s not their responsibility , their responsibility is to be your parent not their grandchild’s .

These responses are the problem. They don’t teach kids how to get pregnant. They teach the organs involved in reproduction and how they work. Did you know sperm that is in your vagina can get you pregnant 2 weeks later. I didn’t and that information is vital. Until there is viable option boys need to be informed to wear a condom every time they have sex. Girls need to feel comfortable enough to talk about sex with their mother to discuss birth control options before she starts having sex unprotected. The abortion rate would go way down if parents wouldn’t be so dead set against sex education. I got pregnant at 17 because my BF said he could pull out and I wouldn’t get pregnant. I got pregnant at the same time I found out he was a liar and a cheater. I would never let my daughters face the world alone without arming them with accurate information and access to birth control if and when they need it.

I feel you when I was your age I would find a nice doctor and ask him to write me a confirmation for disease I was literally never sick so it usually went like this: "good morning annica, how many days would you like to stay at home?" me "I hope." My stomach" 😉 will be better in 5 days". Looking back I had angels (including some teachers!) around me all the time who would help me to survive school without mental damage. Stay strong and btw. Ah, I remember that. I guess I was lucky. The guys around me were the same kids I saw picking their nose and having farting contests since Kindergarten... So I forever saw them like that and yuck!!! 🤮 The rest was like seeing a mountain in front of me that I had to get over. One foot in front of the other, until I passed it. One small community we lived in over 20 yrs ago added a daycare within the school. It was a Jr High. What a tragedy that there were so many pregnant, barely teen girls that a school would need babysitting.

I'm a mom of 5 girls. No matter how diligent, loving you are, things happen. My oldest is a PHD. My 2nd pregnant at just 15. Once pregnant you support and find the joy. Also gave the youngest ones some responsibilities for helping with their niece. No more early pregnancies.

This is actually not that surprising to me because My great grandmother got married at 11 to my great grandpa who was 24 at that time and had her first child at 13. My grandma got married at 20 and my mom got married at 25. What is kinda shocking to me is things like these happening in this era. Those days early pregnancy is regarded as a blessing. As a young high schooler who's had to learn how serious intercourse and other sexual actions are the hard way, I know it's easy to get caught up in the moment especially with hormones and things like that, but please no matter what, never have sex while you're in high-school. It's not worth it. The stress after, the fear of getting pregnant, sometimes you'll feel guilty for losing your innocence, having to hide the fact from your parents. One girl was saying wasn't it sweet that one of their friends was going to have a baby. My daughter jumped in with " yeah, real sweet. We live in a society that seems to promote it. We went from "My Super Sweet 16" to " 16 and Pregnant". You've got that darn right! My parents best friends son (Todd Erb of Norwich, CT) was screwing me from the time I was just a little girl! By the time I was 17 and he then became my stepbrother it had turned into full on rape! Yes, when our parents switched partners, both marrying the other, he'd come into my bedroom almost nightly. When I wasn't able to get pregnant at 25 I even asked my Dr if it had anything to do with what happened. He ended up denying that he ever touched me when I finally told my parents hoping someone would make him stop. The pain he inflicted on me went much deeper than the physical pain from my then undiagnosed endometriosis. I've had nightmares my entire life and here I am well into my 50's and started suffering from the stress of a lifetime of trauma after just seeing him and his family at both of our fathers funerals. Both my dad and my stepdad (his father) passed away just 5 weeks apart from each other. Screwed up families and screwed up children can cause a lifetime of pain and I wish someone would protect the children! These responses are the problem. They don’t teach kids how to get pregnant. They teach the organs involved in reproduction and how they work. Did you know sperm that is in your vagina can get you pregnant 2 weeks later. I didn’t and that information is vital. Until there is viable option boys need to be informed to wear a condom every time they have sex. Girls need to feel comfortable enough to talk about sex with their mother to discuss birth control options before she starts having sex unprotected. The abortion rate would go way down if parents wouldn’t be so dead set against sex education. I got pregnant at 17 because my BF said he could pull out and I wouldn’t get pregnant. I got pregnant at the same time I found out he was a liar and a cheater. I would never let my daughters face the world alone without arming them with accurate information and access to birth control if and when they need it.

This is actually not that surprising to me because My great grandmother got married at 11 to my great grandpa who was 24 at that time and had her first child at 13. My grandma got married at 20 and my mom got married at 25. What is kinda shocking to me is things like these happening in this era. Those days early pregnancy is regarded as a blessing.

As a young high schooler who's had to learn how serious intercourse and other sexual actions are the hard way, I know it's easy to get caught up in the moment especially with hormones and things like that, but please no matter what, never have sex while you're in high-school. It's not worth it. The stress after, the fear of getting pregnant, sometimes you'll feel guilty for losing your innocence, having to hide the fact from your parents. It will never be worth it no matter how good you might think it'll feel. Just wait. If you really care that much about your s.o or if they care about you enough, they'll be okay with waiting too. After a risky action me and my current boyfriend did, it only sunk in after how stupid it was and what could've gone wrong. We're lucky that everything's fine and we talked about it and decided we wouldn't have intercourse until later in college or even after college
Or use protection?? I wasn’t even allowed to date as a 20 year old but have been with my partner for the last almost 3 years. Because I wasn’t allowed to date and he was told to not have sex we couldn’t hide protection anywhere so participated in riskier behaviour leading to pregnancy.

I understand kids sneaky, but I also understand, Trackers, GPS, contact with the parents of the kids your child is with and being WITH your child. If it was r@p3 that’s a diff story but other than that this is neglect at its worst
