Harley is our super smart Cattle Dog. He is a 4 year old Red Heeler. We wanted a dog that would stay with me all day in the back 60 on our timber farm. #1 job is to warn me of predators. We have cougar and black bear. He's treed a bear. He is very good at that. He also protects the home. When we go shopping, he is probably the best theft deterrent you can have. Windows down on a warm day, and he lets you know that 10 feet is close enough. I'm definitely his #1 person. He is a tripping hazard when I'm cooking. He's friendly with everyone, including dogs, unless he senses a threat. He raised Olaf, our 1-1/2 year old brown tabby, since we adopted him at 3 months. Olaf thinks he's a dog. They wrestle, chase, and nap together. He herds our chickens. He goes pretty much everywhere we go.

I’m watching this next to my Bluey, nursing him back to health from a dog bite. The vet thought his toe was broken too. Great content! Looking forward to see videos with them together

My boy's mom was a beautiful blue heeler and his father was an American Labrador (yellow/red). He has the best of both in physical traits and personalities. Not much of a water dog, but sweet to a fault. I'd like to take credit for training him, but I attribute his obedience to his ACD genes. We go for off leash walks, 2-3 miles a day and 1mile on leash. He is over 4y/o and zero health problems!

So, 3 weeks ago now, I went and adopted my Loki. Loki is also a Red Heeler. He is awesome but he's also a little bit quirky. Most of the time he doesn't want to be held, but then there are those times where he just dotes all over me and won't let me ignore petting him. It's odd! It's also wonderful. Loki was in the Maricopa county shelter after being found abandoned. I can't understand that ... but anyways he's mine now and after this short amount of time, he's 100% a "Velcro dog". He gets 2-3 mile walks daily along with shorter walks, and also loves to play rough. Is the ACD for everyone? No. Not even close, but he certainly is for me and we're both better for it.

Amazing. Kudos to you. They have their quirks but I agree they make us better for it :)

My Manju is a red ACD mix. She is smart, energetic and a velcro girl. We go for walks everyday. We have 2 other dogs but she is the one patroling the perimeters all hours of the day, chassing macaws, sparrows, geckos, porkcupines and opossuns.
She is not a cuddling, lap dog, but she is loyal to the bone. Loves to be pet ONLY with.... the foot !!! Never figure it out why....
But yeah, this is a breed that you have to be physically and mentally preprared to own; otherwise they will own you😊😅

My ACD, Annie, knows if I hang a different picture in the house! She's outside all day and inside at night. When she comes in at night, she has to inspect the whole house to make sure
everything is safe....I even have to open closet doors for her to look inside. If there's one strange thing sitting on the floor in the house, like a new pair of shoes, she goes right to
it when she first comes inside. After she learns a routine, she gets bossy if you try to change her pattern.
