- This is an extremely rare recording of the song Alter Mann performed live at the Stadthalle in Offenbach, Germany on October 12, 1997.
This was the 8th song of the show. Normally, they played Klavier as the 8th song. However, they switched it out with this at this concert. This is most likely the last performance of this song.

Jeremiah Morris That was the exact reason I started listening to them. I always had an interest in the language, and their music was a medium that I used to learn. It’s a double edged sword however; when the lyrics are translated, many of the meanings of the lyrics are lost. To truly understand the nuances of the lyrics, being able to understand the lyrics in their original German version is essential.

This song is interesting because the bass is tuned down low (either to drop B or A), whereas the guitars remain in drop D. The bass line is hard to hear on the album version, but here it stands out more.

If you're talking about the studio version of this song, it was recorded in November of 1996 then released in August of 1997 on their second album 'Sehnsucht.'

I had to look up a bunch of translations to find something that landed right with me, I blend like 3 translations to get my happy wording. Like , it makes more sense to me structure the English words "..and for salvation you will plead" just because structurally it's similar, it sounds good, and it's poetic. If I went too far though, it'd just sound like Yoda. "And for salvation will you plead, mm?"

Lots of metal will take cheap shots at Christianity; this is the only metal critique of Buddhism (or mystical religion in general) that I know of. I think it's more a critique of that kind of religion *done wrongly* than of what the Buddha actually said/meant, but it's perfectly sharp nevertheless. Many *do* interpret it as 'stilling the mind' to become a sad, dead lump.
