What makes this song so special is truly the perspective from which the lyrics are written from. The idea of making peace with all the different perceptions others have of you, regardless of them being good or bad. Realizing that you can’t always change people’s mind and that all you can do is just accept that and not let them influence you negatively. The moment you become bitter, hateful & spiteful is truly when you lost in front of the people that hate you because the most precious thing you have to lose is yourself. If you lose yourself the haters really won. I think in this song the girls choose themselves, they choose to accept all these different opinions and ‘smile for them’ because at the end of the day, your opinion of yourself is the only one that should matter to you. You are only responsible of the way you choose to view yourself, the way others perceive you is their own choice & therefore responsibility. I think seeing things from this perspective is very mature and ego-less. That’s what I got from this song and I love it.
I like how they made this with actual film camera, very artistic and suits the music really well. Love the beautiful vocal and heartfelt lyrics Really brave move from IVE for upcoming EP to start with this concept. It is rare to see natural and raw tone, almost like indie music from upstream Kpop groups. It shows how confident they are. My fav IVE track so far. I love the message of this song so much. We usually want people who are different than us to be more like us but this is the song about acceptance. It does not mean we accept bad behavior from others, we just choose who we allow to affect us. its just so sad for me to think about the lyrics bcs... the hate they get every single day is stupid, the hate wonyoung get even when she is a little girl is annoying. You don´t know them that much so I´m telling you aaron, they are one of the most hated ggs and its almost all cuz of wonyoung, but she doesn´t deserve that so its really sad :(

They have experienced many things similar to the lyrics of this song. It wasn't just a hater issue. There are some vicious RUclipsrs. Those whose content is hate and hatred. Malicious rumors, manipulated photos, and misleading videos. In particular, Jang Won-young was hit hard. They are not just simple haters, they use it to attract attention and increase views. In Korea, there have been occasional cases of K-pop singers committing suicide. Strangely enough, there are many extreme haters towards K-pop singers. Maybe it's because it looks so shiny. Is it human nature? Are you of the mindset that if you can't have it, you'll destroy it all?
I think its more about "love yourself". I think of this song as an explanation and reminder to how to understand many versions of "us" in others pov. How we connect through differences because all is good and not stressing on right and wrong. So it feels like this song can be a "forum" for many to just be nice for everyone including yourself. Its kind of refreshing to know this song. For a self love song its not attacking "haters", not put one self higher in order to feel good, not forcing anyone to be the best or better. Its just you and good things.
