Chayote, also known as chocho, is a type of vegetable that is native to Mexico and Central America. The root of the chayote plant is edible and can be cooked and eaten like a potato. It has a mild, slightly sweet flavor and a firm texture. The root can be boiled, mashed, fried, or used in soups and stews. It is a good source of dietary fiber, vitamins, and minerals.
