    The Bartolini MK1 pickups are not great and I wish Cort and Ibanez would stop using that model in their more higher end basses. Ive got a set of Bartolini Single Coils in my one bass and they sound incredible compared!
    Fun facts, MK1 sets are cheaply made in Indonesia specifically for manufacturers, proper Bartolini pickups are all made in the US.

    Dude today I walked into my music store to order a 5 string schecter. This thing caught my eye.
    I picked it up. And your not wrong it feels SOOOOOOOOOO GOOD. Right hand automatically rests right above the pick up. And it just fits.
    I did not order the schecter. I ordered a green space 5.
    I don't know whatvthe fuck they did but it fits like a gloves. And feels amazing.
    I can't attest to the sound. I didn't get a chance to plug it in. But I didn't have to to know it's the right choice.
    Have to wait till may for it. But holy fuck am I excited for it now.

      @havac3683 dude I'm still waiting on delivery. I had to specially order the green one. there was none left. Literally been waiting for it to be made since I wrote that comment. Worst part was there where 2 black ones I could have walked out with the day I ordered. But that green is sexy enough to wait for.

    THIS one with 34-32.5 ms, if a ms at all. The G string sounds better in a medium scale and also, instead of fishmans that are overpriced, I would love the best EMG pickups in this kind of a bass. Linder has EMG's in his Mattisson basses and they sound pretty darn good. They have the opposite of Bartos going, clear sounding and less dull and dark which would benefit the B-string as well.

    Beginner/intermediate player here, is this bass geared towards rock/metal genre mostly or would it suit any style? I want to buy a new decent quality bass for myself, but I'm not that experienced overall, any input from pros out there would be much appreciated!

    • @heathen_actual
      @heathen_actual 6 месяцев назад

      I’m in the same boat with you as a beginner/intermediate player and I think regardless of the type of music you’re playing you can’t go wrong with the light weight and balance of a headless. I started off playing a squier 5 string last year, went to a Spector NS Dimension 5 HP but at 10ish pounds I wanted something lighter for band practice/shows. Got a headless that’s 2lbs lighter and has similar electronics to this set up and it cuts through the mix at practice. Sounds like this would fit any need, just depends on what you’re running it through (effects, amp, etc) and for the price? I’m gonna be snagging one now to replace the Spector and put the remaining money into a Neural DSP Quad Cortex. You should look into one of those or just the Neural DSP plugins (much cheaper than the quad cortex).

    This is a gorgeous instrument. I definitely don't need another bass right now, but I'm pretty sure I'm gonna end up with one of these! I have a Steinberger Spirit XQ from the original run, and I swear that even though this bass has totally different electronics the sound is very familiar. Maybe it's the zero fret having an impact on open strings. I think Nordstrand Big Splits might be a drop in replacement for the Bartolini MK1 pickups ($40 extra for custom string spacing if needed), and they sound incredible. They would definitely take this bass to the next level.

  • @nj1255
    @nj1255 7 месяцев назад

    I also strongly dislike the Korean made Bartolinis that Cort makes in-house. They couldn't be further from the originals (i.e the original Bartolini Classic humbuckers) even if they tried. Have you ever tried American made Bartolinis? The difference in tone is about as big as the difference between a real Music Man Stingray humbucker and a $5-10 Chinese Stingray humbucker copy. The licensed "Bartolini" pickups that Cort makes sound both muffled and shrill in the highs at the same time. The low end is loose and flubby with no punch. American made Bartolinis have the exact opposite characteristics. Very clear and present highs and mids that are at the same time silky smooth. The lows are tight and punchy with more growl than you could ever wish for. The original Bartolini Classic humbuckers are still my favorites out of their lineup, but their latest offering -- the Singularity single coils -- are also some of my favorite pickups ever. It's just a shame that they can be difficult to get a hold of here in Europe without having to pay hundreds of dollars in shipping and VAT.

    Thanks for the video. I’m getting one and I agree with you about the Bartolini pickups. If it’s as good as you say, I’ll check with Nordstrand and see if they have pickups that are a direct fit.

    I really think that at some point there is going to be a B5/B4 multiscale, when I used to sell those basses they flew off the shelves. I imagine they roll these ideas out well after Ibanez to not dig into their market at the same time. Seeing as the BTB got a multi as well as the EHB, I imagine in a few years we will have a multi of this, after the B or the C series. If they had to make the older matte C4 in a multiscale, that would be awesome too.

    Great review and I couldn't agree more about the Bart MK1's that Cort use. I have a Cort multiscale that came with MK1 pups and pre and they sounded awful. I switched out both and it transformed the instrument.
