    You truly have a talent to convey so much useful information in short videos at very nice pace. Hope you keep making more videos and tutorials.

      Thank you so much 🙂 I definitely hope to. I just released a video about new features of zellij yesterday (which is similar in nature to tmux). You might enjoy that one as well. ruclips.net/video/xbCqI7y-pSM/видео.html

    Great video! 👏
    At 0:55 I think that the default keymap for creating horizontal panes is actually C-b and the quotation sign (").

    • @ElijahManor
      @ElijahManor  Год назад

      DOH, good catch! I've customized those mappings personally. I eventually have 2 follow-up videos planned where I show how to customize the settings, then another that uses plugins.

    Just found your video by looking up "tmux 2".
    Very much liking your video format.
    Checked out one of your other videos. They are concise yet build up step by step with a focus on practicality.
    A great approach to follow along. Much more efficient than sifting through manpages.

    • @ElijahManor
      @ElijahManor  Год назад +1

      Glad you like them! I have a few more in the queue about lots of different topics. Right now I'm mostly focusing on terminal based stuff, but eventually I might branch out to other topics.
      BTW, I have two more videos planned for tmux. One focusing on customizing the config and then another one about plugins. I've planned out the next tmux video, I just need to record it and do tight editing.
      I like to keep the videos fast and to the point, which takes a while, but I prefer them that way since that is what I prefer watching. I don't want to feel like I'm wasting people's time, which is precious.
      However, that format doesn't do my any favors when it comes to hours watch material, something which RUclips really encourages. Oh well.

    • @LinkEX
      @LinkEX Год назад

      @@ElijahManor Thanks for the detailed reply!
      I'm not as nimble with the terminal as I should be, so if that's your current topic, that should be just fine.
      Your view that you don't want to waste people's time definitely shows.
      It's true that RUclips's algorithm unfortunately does not reward shortening videos for precision.
      At the very least, it favors consistent quantity over inconsistent quality.
      Though regarding _very_ short videos, RUclips Shorts might actually be an option that catches views and attention just as well.
      You might even be able to 'salvage' your shorter videos like this one. (Although it can be hard to extract information when much of it builds on each other.)

      Yay! Thank you! I eventually want to have 2 other videos that build on this, but currently on a LazyVim series... and there might be a surprise zellij video showing new its new features. Thanks for your excitement and encouragment

    hmmm. feels very "emacs-ish". I used emacs for my first 5 years of programming. I still have most of the commands (including split window and block copy) in my fingers, though my brain does not remember them.

    • @ElijahManor
      @ElijahManor  Год назад +1

      Nice take. I have a custom config that makes some of these commands a bit easier for me to remember. I have plans for 2 more videos that expand upon this video, but I have another neovim video ahead of those that I'm working on (about moving from packer to lazy)

    So simple. Thanks! But how to copy and paste in Tmux?

    • @ElijahManor
      @ElijahManor  Год назад

      I didn't cover copy/paste in that video since it was so quick and I prefer custom vi bindings
      I have 2 follow-up videos planned, but not sure yet when I'll record them.
      In the meantime, maybe checkout out this post and video waylonwalker.com/tmux-copy-mode/ and then maybe check my dotfiles github.com/elijahmanor/dotfiles/blob/master/tmux/.tmux.conf#L45
      I changed the [ key to escape for a more vim-like way to jump into copy-mode and then set `v` to start visual select mode (like vim) and `y` to yank (or copy) like you might expect vim to work.

    • @ElijahManor
      @ElijahManor  Год назад

      I have a video planned to get into how to custom the tmux config file (with explanations of the copy/paste) and another video talking about plugins. If that interests you please let me know
