We could, it’s all about the manufactures and making something that has road relevancy for them. No active aero, drs, and much less aero. But that’s capitalism for you.
Could you elaborate please? I personally don't see any logical reason as to why any of these changes would make F1 worse. The size of the cars has been an issue which made overtaking difficult, so smaller cars should make racing better. The same goes for the weight of the cars. They're also getting even more power, and especially the electric motors are helpful to give the cars even more torque for faster acceleration. It also shows that the FIA/F1 are taking our environmental issues at least somewhat seriously which will help with public and political support for the sport over the coming years/decades.
I think they did the right thing by reducing the size but making it a 50-50 split between combustion and electric is what I don't like. This is still not yet confirmed. The power of engine is too low, while there is no energy, the car will be so slow as the power of electric is not consistent, even slower than today's f2 car
Wish they'd go for a formula with more drag and downforce instead. The ICE end power is perfect for good slipstream in 2026, should help to compensate the dirt air. But they are trying to reduce drag while trying to create passing... just take a look at past 20 years, you had lots of downforce and dirt air, but too much power so the cars could never close in fast enough. Then right now you have less slipstream while dirt air is just as bad as it was before current rules, and they still have too much power so slipstream is terrible and even DRS is not as effective
@@Gamurboi Nope. 2021 and before still had the issue of too much end power. Too much power means the car ahead can deal well with drag, the faster it goes the worse it is for slipstream (well unless you are in a superspeedway oval, but that's another topic). Just watch any battle pre DRS, specially when F1 had proper tires. Alonso x Schumacher epic chase in Imola 2005 is a great example. They are close all the time but Schumacher never had enough slipstream because with that much Power it meant Alonso also had decent final speeds. If you want more overtakes you need more acceleration and lower top speeds (this is where hybrids are great). Mix that with high drag and things will work, the car ahead will have a hard time with drag, the one behind will have a hole open in the air for it. Or just add a hanford device to F1 lol that activates only on straights, inverse DRS 😅but since it's for road courses it'd have to be pretty big compared to the version they used in CART back in the late 90s~early 00s
So basically, 1% smaller cars, way less aerodinamics in coner even whit full dowforce configuration, overcomplicated active aero whit great risk for safety and failures whit 2 major case scenario: heavy understeer or cars which decide to become assasins by spin by themself, I also wonder what will happen in tracks like suzuka where you need a lot of engine power while conering what will happend (active aero goes crazy whit way too much multiple configuration that increase chances of failures, or the eletric energy will be completely drained). Then also whit maximum dowforce in the coners and minimum drag in the straghts, the dirty air becomes even more a disavantage! Now if you are behind a car you have at least on the straigths the slipstream, whit this active aero max dirty air in coners 0 slipstream on straigths! Another scenario i immagine cuold lead to mostruos engine management where the "overtakes" are actually overtaking someone whit zero energy gaining 2 second on him like nothing. Super formula disk to become more fast than a f1 and even the f2 cuold risk that. An embarassment for the pinnacle of motorsport. (And they didnt even had an excuse to not return to only ice cars whit sintetic fuel since there is still potential for "road cars development" ,resolve a lot of problems, and the cars pollute NOTHING in comparison of the rest of the circus ! Just the fact that is the first time the car is made aruond the engine and not viceversa say a lot of how this is a completely ideological view!) This cuold end in disaster
They should return to smaller cars with a V8 they can keep the halo but im tired of seeing DRS everytime they are on a straight and the electric systems make the cars predictable
So all the overtaking will be done by pressing a button. Everything will be so artificial!! You can't call it racing!! They are destroying the essence of the sport !! 🥴🥴🥴
The only way I can see them wanting to keep using this garbage tech motor is that the FIA is paying these manufactures a good deal change to keep this farcse of a PU going.....and I hope these cars won't be the tug boats that they are presently.
I absolutely love everything except for the half electric engine. But so glad to hear the cars are no longer going to be single seater limousines. They look ridiculously large on track anymore, and could always use more passing action.
I wish theyd just abandon the hybrid system and go all in on synthetic fuels it would be much better for the environment as electric cars are now dying out and people have finally realised they are not as good for the environment as they hoped theyd be and with all the development being placed in synthetic fuel it would eventually become commonplace in every town and city without having to change much infrastructure and in turn we wouldnt have gimmicky push to pass racing as the cars would be much lighter and actually be able to overtake on turns
@@RBot21 They won't leave. They will race with whatever engine the FIA will mandate. Nobody cares about the hybrid system. We need the V10 back!😎
I didn't think f1 could get worse, but here we are.
Fr the cars should be bigger, we need less overtaking and less horsepower.
Obviously ion mind people having different opinions but personally I don't like it. We have formula e for this kind of stuff it's literally made for electric cars we don't need 2 formula e's . I think that 'patent' (I don't know what it's called, so I'll just call it a patent for now) expires in 2035 or something like that, so Formula 1 isn't forced to stay in the past forever, but Formula 1 is still stuck with the combustion engines for a while. “The cars should be lighter”
Engineers: *makes the cars even heavier than before*
Less grip, wire from right foot to engine, steel brakes, narrower front wing, no drs is the recipe for better racing.
That's why audi's new F1 car is smaller in length compared to other er F1 cars. 🤔🤔
Then right now you have less slipstream while dirt air is just as bad as it was before current rules, and they still have too much power so slipstream is terrible and even DRS is not as effective
thats basically what we had in 2021
@@Gamurboi Nope.
So 2001 rare overtaking?
@@Lianpe98 if you cant read, yeah
So basically, 1% smaller cars, way less aerodinamics in coner even whit full dowforce configuration, overcomplicated active aero whit great risk for safety and failures whit 2 major case scenario: heavy understeer or cars which decide to become assasins by spin by themself,
I also wonder what will happen in tracks like suzuka where you need a lot of engine power while conering what will happend (active aero goes crazy whit way too much multiple configuration that increase chances of failures, or the eletric energy will be completely drained).
Just the fact that is the first time the car is made aruond the engine and not viceversa say a lot of how this is a completely ideological view!)
This cuold end in disaster
They should return to smaller cars with a V8 they can keep the halo but im tired of seeing DRS everytime they are on a straight and the electric systems make the cars predictable
