I watched this yesterday with my friend. Neither of us are Team Green or Black, and when Rhaenyra mentioned that kings and queens are protectors of the realm, she said “Why do they call themselves protectors of the realm if anything left to protect will surely be bones, blood and ashes?”
no point choosing sides. by this time people should know how the books ended. most. hopefully they change things up to make it feel fresh. ofcourse. and i mean there wouldn't be a show or book if they didn't fight. just stories made by another. i can see about asking if this was real kings and queens. similar to war of the roses. because it actually HAPPENED.
If you're worried about being spoiled by the book I can assure that you can read the first 338 pages of the book without spoilers for House of the Dragon.

People are actually surprised with how Daemon is behaving. He killed his first wife, laughed openly during his second wife's funeral and choked the third in the season 1 finale. Maybe he isn't the best at treating women well.
