One of the most clear, best, simplest talks regarding our Father’s plan. He is so incredibly merciful and extends His grace to all while utterly respecting our AGENCY. People do not understand this today. They want to sin and still go to the highest, Celestial Glory - and get “offended” when anyone reminds them that we cannot have their cake & eat it too. We must make Celestial choices if we want the Celestial Glory, while also making use of the law of Repentance for those times we don’t make those choices. We all sin. We can all repent. But if we don’t WANT to repent, then we are choosing a different glory to inherit. I’m so grateful for true & living prophets, seers & revelators!

I appreciate this explaination from President Oaks! It is so clear, simple and encouraging for all of us! Now, it's up to each of us to choose how we wish to live, thus choosing our eternal destinations. Also I am so encouraged that those who don't understand these wonderful principles in this life can still live and learn and eventually receive all of Gods blessings just the same as those who knew these truths in this life. We are all loved the same by our Father in Heaven. We all have an equal opportunity to return to God, no matter what our opportunities in this life.

Definition of exaltation is being spelled out and will continue to be. Let there be no disputations within his kingdom on Earth. And let there be no confusion on where we stand. the Celestial Law is the highest law. the requirements in this kingdom are also the highest. we cannot coast into this kingdom because of those requirements. if we feel at ease in Zion then beware lest we receive an Easy kingdom.

What a fantastic talk. Doctrine clearly taught. The incredible thing about the Gospel is that it is so easy to understand. It is man and mans understanding that muddies the understanding and confuses the mind.

I know that you are busy, and it is not always convenient for you to read all the responses to various messages that you so eloquently share with the Saints abroad. However ; I would suffer if I did not take this opportunity to respond to the treasure that you laid bare for all to see and to hear. I am an Israelite and a covenantal son of our Great Eternal Father, and my wife is also. We were married in 1970, and sealed in the Washington DC temple when it opened.
From our home to your home we send our love and our gratitude for your wonderful address on the topic of the kingdoms. The knowledge of these things has been a comfort to our souls for many years. We especially appreciated the Celestial Delivery of this beautiful truth. It truly is beyond our ability to express the heart- felt warmth and the expeditious use of 16 minutes. The glorious truths made manifest to all seeking souls will be manna to the hungry, clear water to slake their thirst , and a light in the darkness to the lost.
This talk was nothing short of a feast for us....

Great talk!! Where do want to abide and are you willing to live that law?
Good question. I would think that those who are willing to abide the Terrestrial Kingdom are willing to keep the law of Moses and the 10 commandments. Those who are willing to abide the Celestial Kingdom, albeit the lowest level, are willing to keep the law Jesus gave of the Sermon on the Mount. Those who are willing to abide the highest level of the Celestial Kingdom are those who learn the further revelations in His Temples on the Earth today. As members, anything less than the highest level of the Celestial Kingdom when it is all said and done, excluding those who are not able to get married and sealed in this life is a failure. My fellow brothers and sisters strive for the highest Celestial Kingdom glory. Those who are not able to marry in this life will still receive their promised blessing as they remain worthing. That is promised by the Prophets including the late Elder Packer. (which promise I clung onto until I got married and sealed at the age of 42)
But those who do not choose and those who do not know the laws of the kingdoms, are at no fault?

Taste the fruit and be not ashamed! The only "sugar coating" that should ever accompany Gosple teachings, are those provided by the Holy Ghost in sweet reassuring peace to those to whom are humble. There is not one Gosple topic, principle or covenant, present or past, including ALL those revealed by Joseph Smith, that should not be preached. My family tree because of the Roman Catholic Church and the records they kept over 200 years ago. I am a Latter-day Saints of the Church of Jesus Christ. We believe in God thy Father and Son and Holy Ghost 3 Devine presons. Amen 🙏🏻 📖 scriptures speak to us, by Old and New Prophets.
Fantastic talk especially with regards to US choosing our comfort level in the after-life AND about sealings being in accordance to what people want or desire. For example, I am no longer married to my kid's mom, but we also never asked for a temple divorce. We would not be forced into a marriage in the after-life. Great talk and great explanation about things I have had on my mind.
Ok I’m confused. I thought you were sealed to that person for all eternity. I thought the vows state husband and wife for all eternity and not til death do us part? Has this changed?

we are sealed in the temple. this sealing will continue into the next realm. man cannot undo what has been done here in the temple. however there... all things will be made right by each individual. not forced. @@downy1202
@@downy1202 They are for all eternity (that’s the goal and why the ordinance is made) AND it requires faithfulness and a life where both parties voluntarily do their best to keep all the commandments and honor such an ordinance.

I'm just not sure if it would be enough to convince family and friends to change, when they are given so many chances to change in the next life. I missed what he said about where bad people would go? I would say spirit prison but l didn't hear him say that.

He also quotes D&C 138 about hearing the Gospel in the next life "Those who repent will be redeemed... and after they have paid the penalty of their transgressors... they shall receive a reward according to their works for they are heirs of Salvation."

Is it possible that this is a doctrine of men? One where a Savior isn't needed because everyone is going to go somewhere glorious?
John 3:18: "Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son."
John 3:36: "Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them."
2 Thessalonians 1:8-9: "He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might."
Revelation 20:15: "Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire."
Mark 16:16: "Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned."
Matthew 25:46: "Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."
John 3:16 Gives only two choices: "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

What wonderful "bookend talks" by President Oaks and President Nelson. I loved how President Oaks talked very plainly and precisely about the doctrine of the 3 degrees of Glory and our individual role in "becoming" converted to the true gospel of Jesus Christ and then how President Nelson confirmed that we all need to "Think Celestial" and then "become" Celestial through accepting the covenants of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Powerful spiritual doctrine taught by "true messengers of the Lord Jesus Christ"!
“He’ll never force sealing relationship on anyone unwilling or unworthy.” This is good news. Some men treat their wives abominably just bc they’re sealed to them, as if they’re their only hope of exaltation. I know of such a wife who prayed not to be together with her husband in the eternities bc of his vile behaviors.
This right here. Agency cannot be denied. Completing Ordinances does not excuse us if we're not worthy. We must endure to the End.

" In my Father's house are many mansions " I am reminded of the scripture in the Doctrine and Covenants.... " the earth rolls upon her wings......and the stars roll upon their wings IN THEIR GLORY " what do you see when you look at the starry heavens??? I understand the explanation given in the world of science ( as far as it has attained ) .....how stars are burning gasses, etc. But I also know that the prophet Joseph explained how we would dwell amidst eternal burnings and I also know that Jehovah taught us through the example of Shadrack, Meschak, and Abednego that fire that consumes most things had zero effect on those three translated beings.
When I look up at the starry heavens, I now see a house with many, many, mansions.

I have a question about the difference between the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Roman Catholic Church, what is the difference between the Holy Ghost and the 3 persons God the Father and Son and Holy Ghost?
Hi @outdoorsbeyondnature1980, thanks for your question. We believe that when Jesus Christ was on the earth, He established His Church. After the Savior's death and resurrection, Peter and other Church leaders were rejected and killed, and key teachings and priesthood authority were lost from the earth. Then, in 1820, God and Jesus called a new prophet named Joseph Smith to restore the Church and its true teachings. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is Jesus Christ's restored Church. Don't know about the third person or or never heard of the third person you're talking about. Yes, the God the Father and Jesus Christ and the holy ghost. All 3 make up the Godhead as one. You may have to explain.
Hi, here are scriptures that teach about the Godhead. The Godhead consists of 3 beings, who are physically separate, but are one in purpose.
Matthew 3:16-17, Acts 7:55-56. Another good one is one that was posted above which is in the doctrine and covenants.(D&C 130:22) All three members of the Godhead are God, but they have different duties.
Put simply:
G-d is Our Heavenly Father
Jesus is Our Savior
The Holy Ghost is the Messenger

@@red.362 And that is right! That does not mean, however, that God taught all things at that point. So these things (which are referred to in the Bible) add more clarity to what what was taught in the records we have in the Bible.

Thanks for sharing that scripture. That is why it's important to search the holy scriptures, ponder the true meaning, and pray for understanding. The main question here is: Is what President Oaks teaching here in harmony with the teachings of Jesus Christ, or is it contradictory? If it contradicts the teachings of Christ, how specifically does it do that?
There are many truths taught that aren't contained in the Bible. Think of all the teachings of all the pastors, bishops, rabbis, Biblical scholars, etc. Also there are books by inspired authors like C.S. Lewis, etc. Are they teaching another gospel?
I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true, and is the gospel of Jesus Christ.

I may be wrong, but I've never heard any conference talk describe the three kingdoms in such detail. Sign of the times?
Why can't any of you answer these simple questions? Why does God make most people attracted to the opposite sex and bless them with love and marriage and the Celestial Kingdom? And then why does God make some people only attracted to the same sex and then NOT allow them to have love or happiness or the Celestial Kingdom? Why does God do that?
I wish I had an answer to that. I have several gay and lesbian friends. What I do know is this. God is equally merciful as he is just. There is an obvious reason why he wants a man and woman to be together, but he will take same sex attraction into consideration in the day of judgement and will judge everyone individually amd fairly as salvation is an individual affair. It is not just perfect Heaven or torturous Hell, as other Christians believe.
We are sent to this earth for several reasons. One being to learn through our own experiences to choose the good from the evil. Also, to understand what it is to feel sorrow, pain, and hardships. We are not sent to this life all the same, we all are given strengths, weaknesses, and trials to over come specific to us as individuals.
Being attracted to the same sex is one of those trials. Being attracted to the same sex will not keep anyone out of the Celestial Kingdom, but acting on it will.
All forms of sexual contact must be kept with in the bounds the Lord has set. This is part of over coming the "natural man" or the base animal desires.
The law you choose to live in this life determines where you live eternally.
A person with same sex attraction must obey the same law governing sexual activity as everyone else. No sex outside marriage and marriage is between a man and a women. Those desires may change over the time of a person's life.
The power in this discourse that President Oaks delivered must be attributed the the Holy Ghost. Every time I have listened to these truths as they have been masterfully delivered to the world by this great apostle.....I am encouraged, I am thrilled, I am humbled, I am filled with joy....
I am filled with love for my Father in Heaven, and I am filled with love for my fellow man.
These words are like a drink of pure water in a dry and thirsty land.

How different is the message that contains truth. Not truth mixed with error, not “truth” as determined by scholars, not truth mixed with the philosophies of men, but truth as received from revelation from God through the medium of the Holy Ghost.
Truth, pure undiluted diamond truth. When prophets, seers, and revelators speak the words of God there is no need to shout, no need for electrical guitars and light shows, just simple truth spoken by the power of the Holy Ghost.
