1:10:45 Funny how the guys playing cards in the fallout shelter pause for a few seconds when an atomic bomb supposedly goes off above them...then when the rumbling passes, they nonchalantly go back to their game!
"Scare" is more of a click word with these film's.. At the time , and I remember. The feeling was education not fear , there was no ambiguity about the power of a nuke, being used in a war..
Yup - those of us that lived through the cold war (the first one?) got an education all right. Have you ever read that US Government book, " The Effects of Nuclear Weapons"? It even has a circular slide rule in the back to calculate overpressure vs distance vs megaton yield. Note that (at least the beginning )was filmed before fusion devices...once they became common, the idea of "civil defense" was quietly dropped as the extent of damage and it's range made it kind of useless - not that being prepared in general is a bad idea!
@@stevengill1736 Yeah, I think the heart was in the right place in retrospect, the whole thing feels like damage control given it was the US who dropped a nuke on a metropolis during war and many people were (rightfully) wondering why something like this was kept a secret. I kind of feel bad for the people who were pushing for "Shelters" to be built and set up only to realize ultimately how pointless it was, but my whole thing watching this is "why would we even allow an enemy plane to get this close? If we could detect it early enough to give warning, we could find a way to knock the plane out." but also there's the whole "If they bombed the biggest cities and economic centers off the map, there'd be nothing really to conquer"
whys that? u realize after all this time... because we let the commies keep their nukes when their nation colapsed thus leaving us back to this state once again... this doc.. it gives false hope.. they couldnt even imagine the level of destruction that we are capable of today... the nukes they are worried abt in this scare film are only a fraction of the destructive capability the current 6 nuclear nations posess... u can dig to china and have a bunker built to let u survive physically... sure... if u survive the madness of livin underground in a concrete coffin doing the same thing day in and day out... it would be basically prison... imagine the horrors families would endure.. sad to say it... but even if we survie the initial devistation.... there would not be any hope or reason to carry on.... and thats the sad reality of this type of war.
Frankly, I think they would legit try to call the Blacks and minorities who survived "Zombies" to justify racistly slaughtering them all instead of helping them, but "conveniently" had to cut that part out...... until 2024.....
For the last film, an audio only version, read by an unknown announcer, was to have been broadcast over EBS radio following an attack, with emergency medical instructions.
Yeah I suppose in an actual nuclear war great thought would be given to the fates of "other lifeforms." The selfish egotistical fools. What about the roaches? Awful, awful people.
@@MalachiWhite-tw7hl Well it should.... the fact that we have these nukes and keep trying to kill each other by causing as much damage as possible is kind of the reason the Earth is more like a desert now, and only very recently (like as of a few years ago) are we attempting to reverse that damage.... only to have some mad men keep blowing sh8t up because they want a bit more economic power. At this point really it's less about the "other life forms" and more about "WHY....are we blowing each other and half the planet up again?" Recall....a war where 13,000 people died was fought over a patch of grass that a PIG ate from.....
Yeah, the whole "What IF the Nazis had access to this technology. They would take over the world and blow up the entire east coast!" Fast forward to today when the Nazis somehow took over the US through diplomacy and STILL have the same goal of blowing up the east coast.... (Saboteurs could sneak into our cities in the dark of night) ... they didn't have to sneak...they were straight up INVITED AND ENCOURAGED!

the first film would've been pretty good with the MST3K treatment (heck it even had ME riffing)
There's The Mads Are Back to do it....
LOL just thinking about it, although comedians of that era had a field day, for sure.
The H bombs they use now nothing would be left to examine 😂😂
Radiums harmless huh😳
Oh yeah, i feel a lot better now.

I feel better than James Brown! ;^=[}
17:15 Yeah. Turn on that radio, as there's electricity. What a joke!
They don't show the part where radioactive zombies break in and devour everyone. 🤔

Helter Shelter 😂😂
All these nitwits ever mention is what it would do to the "people" referring to human types. What about all the other beings and lifeforms?

Ya but the UsA put it together and u can't take that away from them . they had no choice fun fact Japan had never lost a war. Before
Not IF>..ITS WHEN!
What bull shit. They are just trying to make people feel safe. But not telling them the truth.
