    This was literally the best review bar none. I love it. Thanks so much! I love the cross-section diagrams you included too. I didn't see any of those on the website for Advance Frame. The only let down of the video was the actual video part we got at the end was of the old model... like that was a big let down.

      You mean the set-up? Yes, sorry, that's the old one. It's so similar (only the DS floor has a slightly different valve adapter) that AE didn't make a special set-up video for the Elite. But I will put it on my list of things to shoot. Cheers, Emily.

    I wish I had watched your video before buying my kayak. It's straight to the point, no bs and filled with the kind of information I wanted to know. I did buy the advanced elements convertible and never having kayaked before I was very concerned I should have bought something else. You have put my mind at easy and I'll just go out and enjoy it when it comes in.
    If I may make a suggestion.... I spend 6 hrs running from store to store until I was able to find a pump for it because the regular pumps out there don't work. a quick mention about what kind of pump work would be amazing for people like me who know nothing about this new world.
    Thanks again.

    Great review. I'm in the process of getting a new kayak and I had my eye on the Advancedframe C. Elite for quite some time. I'll be using it for coastal touring trips and island hopping. What about UV protection? I've seen some users on other kayaks paint on UV protection coats to help the kayak withstand the sun better. Is it a recommended thing even on the Elite version? Thanks

    • @OzinflatablekayaksAu
      @OzinflatablekayaksAu  2 года назад

      The red deck of the AFC Elite is fabric, so spraying a UV protector will prevent fading. But having said that, I've really only ever seen fading on kayaks that are left out in the sun for long periods. All my kayaks still look really good. Cheers, Emily.

    1.) Are inflatable less safe than hard top kayaks? 2.) Is the ‘tandem-to-single’ inflatable kayak harder to maneuver on the water than the ‘traditional single’? I love that it’s a space saver, works great for those who live in small apts! I plan to buy the convertible 2 seater. 75% of the time I will kayak solo to different islands, but am concerned I won’t be getting a streamlined paddling experience and will be lugging around excess weight, making coasting the sea more difficult. 25% of the time will include a paddling partner, hence me leaving this as an option. Would love your thoughts!

    • @OzinflatablekayaksAu
      @OzinflatablekayaksAu  4 года назад +1

      Hi Stephen, yes, the Convertible is a bit harder to manoeuvre than a regular single, partly because it is longer and partly because it is heavier. If you want my opinion (and it's just my opinion so take it or leave it), if you are going single most of the time, get a solo kayak. It will be so much easier to get to and from the water, as well as easier to paddle. If it means you can't take someone with you, then so be it, it's a price worth paying. Regarding your question about safety, I don't have any stats on that. Of course there is risk with kayaking as there is with all boating, but the vast majority of accidents and deaths occur when alcohol is involved and when boaters are not wearing a life jacket. So if you stay sober and wear a life jacket, your odds are VASTLY improved, whether you are going inflatable or not! Cheers, Emily.

    Hi Emily, on the Convertible Elite, for shorter paddlers (5'4" and 5'5") it possible to raise the seats up a bit to get better leverage? A pad under the seat perhaps. Neither one of us like the feeling of sitting too low in kayaks. We're in New Hampshire, USA by the way.

    • @OzinflatablekayaksAu
      @OzinflatablekayaksAu  2 года назад

      Hi Kevin, lucky for you, they have already done this with the AFC Elite! The bum pad on the seat has about 5-6cm of high density foam to give you nice lift. I am 5'4" and use a 230cm paddle and I am sitting perfectly in the AFC Elite. Cheers, Emily.

    Can you store a dog or two below deck with the convertible deck? Is the fabric breathable enough that they would not suffocate or get too hot? I plan to take a few dogs with me and use the single cockpit deck at times when it's cold or rainy.

    Hi Emily and thanks for the great and informative video!
    AE Advanced Frame Elites are amazing kayaks. I have one and am very happy with it. One little known difficulty though is a proper alignment of a drop-stitched floor which affects tracking.
    Do you have any experience with it? Any suggestions of doing it the best way? What do you think - putting velcro at the bow and stern, in the middle, on the inside of shell and corresponding velcro on the bottom of drop-stitched floor (to put it reliably in the middle) may work?
    Thanks in advance for your reply!

      Honestly, Sam, I've never had a problem with this. I just unfold the kayak and blow it up... innertube first, then the floor, so that the floor gets aligned by the innertube, if that makes sense. Is this a regular problem you have? Cheers, Emily.

      Hi Sylvie - it is suitable for a beginner in the sense that it is stable and easy to paddle straight, but it is is fairly heavy at 24.5kg, so if you are going to be paddling mainly solo, you need to be comfortable with carrying that weight by yourself. We often sell it with a cart (with wheels) for solo paddling, to help get it down to the water. Cheers, Emily.

    How long does the kayak take to dry?

    • @OzinflatablekayaksAu
      @OzinflatablekayaksAu  4 года назад +2

      Hi Lyn, anywhere from 10 minutes to a few hours - depends on how much water you get in and how hot and dry the air is. My tip is to take an old towel and rub down inside the kayak as soon as you get out, then it is just a case of the tubes wicking away any remaining moisture.
