Thanks for making and sharing this! Very useful and insightful. And special thanks to Jessica and Ben for agreeing to be a part of this. Good luck with your real exams!
Yes, Jessica's pronunciation is excellent and her accent is practically native British English. However, it's ok to have a local accent from your country. As long as you're understandable, it shouldn't affect your mark.
Thank you, Ben! And thanks, Jessica and Leo, for allowing to share this. It was quite enlightening. I have my exam in a few days and this is the part I'm most nervous about, especially the long turn, so it was great seeing some more examples of what it's like.
This is great quality content. I would just advise confident speakers like Jessica to follow the prompts because this would help them not to speak too much, go off-topic or forget to wrap it up with a conclusion.
Jessica's accent is so good that it looks as she was brought up by bilingual parents (maybe an English father and an Italian mother or vice-versa)? Anyway, many thanks for uploading such a helpful video. It's much appreciated.
Hi Ben! Your videos are great and pretty helpful! When i watch them not only i learn, but i also feel entertained. Right now i am preparing for the C1 advanced. Regards from argentina!
Thanks for making this video, it really is useful for people who are preparing for exams! 🙏🏻 Leonardo seems like a very nice and kind-hearted person overall, his performance was quite good as well! I feel like people often ignore his skill only because he has a bit of a thicker accent than Jessica, and they shouldn't!
Hello Ben! I’m Brazilian and this type of videos, with foreigners is so useful since I struggle a lot with my pronunciation. I leave in Arizona and I don’t have much contact with people yet, but your lessons will amazingly help me from now on. I’m glad I’ve found you!
Thank you for this and all other videos on You Tube. This one had been particularly useful for me. I learned a bunch of new expressions from Leo and I could use some tools for preparation - Jessica's self-recording activity is an enchanting idea. Great job to both Jessica and Leonardo.
Excellent video, I've come across it three years after I passed my CAE exam, three years too late. Priceless suggestions, clear explanations and deep reflections on the performances, it will undoubtedly be of great help to anyone who wants to sit such a difficult exam. Kudos Keep up the good work.

I know it's a year old but still 100% helpful. I'm focusing on the long turn right now, so I'll get back to it when I move on to the other speaking tasks. Thanks so much!
I think that the most important thing in the Speaking Part would be the interaction between the participants, especially if they truly know each other. As you said, it does not really matter the final answer, but the process itself makes it so appealing and natural, fluent, until the clock is ticking, haah! I am a 17 years old student that is going to take the CAE exam next month, I am really doubtful whether I am going to pass it or not as I am not so much confident about my skills, especially when it comes to exams, they make me stressful and anxious, which is normal, of course, but still. Haha. Great job, I love your work.
Thanks, Tara. As you said, it's completely normal to feel anxious before and during an exam. In fact, it's useful because it helps you focus. The important thing is to be as prepared as possible and you'll be fine. 🙂

Hello, thank you for sharing. Thanks to Jessica and Leo. May I just make a suggestion for the mini presentation part. There are three bullet points that the speakers are expected to answer. Why not just going through the bullet points one by one and ticking them off in your mind. For instance: What practical skills are required: cooking, cleaning, doing litte DIY work at home, repaing small devices at home. People who need practical skills: technician, plumbers, electricians, in general people doing physical work. Disavantage of lacking practical skills: you depend on others to help you, you come across as clumsy and awkward, you need more time to "survive" in daily life because house chores require practical skills. One more thing, if I may. Why not recording the candidates and make them listen to some of their mistakes. Both candidates are very strong speakers but there are some mistakes that could be avoided just by listening to them. Again, this helped me a lot. Ben, do you offer live courses that people can book?
Thanks a bunch Ben, as always a fantastic video. Very useful, and allows you to learn a lot. I think it's a great idea to continue with this kind of videos!!!! I'll be waiting for them😉👏👏
For Italian people there is nothing as hard as the pronunciation of h at the beginning of words...we remember about it only when we are really relaxed :) We are used to cancel the h from our speaking since we are 5 years old...Difficult to do it during an exam, with some adrenaline going around the body
Thank you very much! I was looking forward to such video! Some queries: In part 2, when asked to discuss all the photos and make a decision, since we have already discussed two of them, how we should deal with them quickly, without repeating ourselves? Also in part 4 I thought that we just answer on our own the questions.
You shouldn't repeat yourself in part 2 because the second task will be quite different and you should have enough vocabulary to avoid repetition. There is no part 4. In part 3 there are effectively two parts... first, you must speak on your own about the subject on the card you're given (followed by extra questions for your partner and yourself) then, you must hold a conversation with your partner answering some extra questions that the examiner asks.
Hello! Lovely video again! I had a question regarding the exam. Are you allowed to take coloured pencils, or coloured markers with you on the exam? Because I can’t find that information anywhere.
🎉🎉🎉I too the CPE exam and made it thanks to Mr Clark who helped me with tutoring after studying with him for two weeks. He provided me with tips and questions which greatly helped me.I want to recommend you all to him he has the key to success in his hands. After writing for 4 times I made it thanks to him.
Thanks a lot, been using all the resources you've shared to prepare the CPE, properly this time. On the remote chance that you read this, would you recommend that test-takers add a little "nice to meet you" to the presentation in part 1? I've never heard it done in any of the simulations I've seen so far, but it seems only natural in such a polite conversation.
I'd like to make a question about this part of the speaking part. Shouldn't it be more formal the speech? I mean, Shouldn't it be like an essay but spoken ? Thanks in advance
Very useful video! One question: if you are asked to discuss a really challenging, specific topic , can you honestly admit that you’re not that cultured on the subject and that you’ll give it your best shot, as long as you do it in advanced English? From what I gathered, the ability to utilize your linguistic tools should be evaluated and not the knowledge of technical details, right?
@@tothepointenglishwithben. I would really like to book a lesson with you. How can I have more info ? Should I send an email to the address indicated on your channel?
If the time is limited. It would be a little nice of her to give him more time, she spoke more than him but not because of him, he tried to talk and she interrupted him. We should think about others when examining.
I am not good at conversation simply because I am an introvent, anxious introvert. So, I am expecting it will be the hardest part for me. I don't know.
I still haven't finished watching the video, have they passed? Were they going to sit the exam some time after this video was made? Let us know when that happens :)
I’m sorry if this is an inappropriate question, but how old are they? I’m a little worried that I’ll look too old to sit for the exam (I’m 35 and preparing for it). I know it’s ridiculous but I’ve seen so many 18 year-olds sitting for the exam in the videos uploaded by Cambridge, that I’ve grown a little too self conscious about my own age. Hopefully my question won’t come off as rude, not my intention at all xx
