Only folks who know and are inclined to like Ethio-Jazz will appreciate this remake. Others will complain about Nina Simone and such.

I don't understand why everybody hate this version... She's not trying to redo the Nina Simone version, but she's doing something else, and that's pretty good. Her voice is really expressive, much better than a lot of so called "singers" today!
Her voice is great, but doesn't suit the lyrics. Considering it's about attempting to hide from divine justice on Judgement Day... her voice ruins the song.
There's no soul. There's no urgency, there's no passion. It's dry and uninvolving. It's absolutely horrible.

Because she is just telling the words from the lyrics, no desperate run, hopeless depression. It is just nothing. Only taking up few MB storage on the RUclips storage.
I'm agree with you. People think there is just a way to sing a song like this: soul. Not all it's about soul and not all it's wrong. Nina Simone is another thing, this version is not better or worst, just different. And i like it for this reason.

El problema no es ella, es que la canción muestra alguien que se esta desgarrando para tratar de buscar un alivio, y expresa su desesperación en cada linea. no hay motivo de carnaval, es una canción difícil que expone culpas y dolor . No una fiesta de los años 40

I have to agree with the other comments this isn't a good cover of this song. I can tell they are a great band and she is a great singer, but the style they used just doesn't fit the song's tone, meaning, or message.
I am all for trying something different but I just don't feel like this worked well. In my opinion a much better cover of this song is by Hugh Coltman for anyone that is interested. Just search on RUclips for Hugh Coltman Sinnerman and you should find it pretty easily.
