The Principal's statement on teacher's leave shows she doesn't know the service rule. If a government employee of any department has exhausted their Casual Leave (12 Days in a year) and Earned Leave (entitled to 30 days of EL annually or 2.5 days for every completed month of service) and is unable to attend office due to medical reason than the employee can avail Commuted Leave with Medical Certificate from the Hospital and approval from District Chief Medical Officer office. And if the employee has exhausted his Commuted Leave than he shall be granted Leave without Pay (LWP) and after 12 months if the employee doesn't show up than he shall have to apply for Invalid (Medical) Pension or Voluntary Pension since he is unfit to serve the government physically. Government will not pay salary to employees who do not attend office for more than 1 year stating their health issue. They should take Medical or Voluntary Pension if they are incapable of serving the government. This is the service rule of the highest order.

To be precise, our school is in the heart of Dimapur where Internet problem is minimal. But most of us were facing problems even in login process. Also, though I was sitting inside the teacher's room, it appeared in my screen that I was 68.5 meters away from the location. Sometimes it says 173.3 meters. There was no constancy in that issue too. The main problem for me was that I was away from the radius of the location. So sad. If this app continues then most of us will spend our time trying to register attendance instead of teaching our students.
Respected Sir, if I were you, I would just root my phone and tweak the software to spoof the location. No need to actually be there at the assigned location. Just sit back, relax at home, and let the magic of technology do the work for you. There are some solid apps that can do it effortlessly, but of course, you need a rooted Android phone for that. Tech jugad at its finest.

Even if you provide staff quarters it will mostly be occupied by proxy teachers and the remaining govt teacher you will find them either in Kohima or Dimapur sitting comfortably and still getting paid. No disrespect to anybody and I'm not accusing all the teachers but most of them are especially in village area you will find similar cases and on top of that the school authority are even taking away the students per day meal so you can only imagine how much the teacher's and school authorities care about their education and wellbeing of the students

I totally disagree with her thought process. I guess the Smile app was introduced to check regularity of teachers. It's very important firstly for teachers to be present to be efficient. Also for efficiency so many workshops are being held every quarter by the department. Besides, it's the Principal's duty to ensure efficiency by making sure that all the training provided by the department is effectively implemented. Blaming department for efficiency is just baseless in this case.

Application of SA is for good so let's accept it . Secondly all departments are important but a department like edn & medical are directly concerned with the lives so can't be placed on the same footing. Application of SA has been the only remedy to end the proxy system which is widely prevailing in the state.
Here at GHS Chare, Tsg, we faced the same problem regarding the net connectivity. We reached school at 8.30 am with phone activation of location, datas and so on but it shows slow connectivity, out of the radius, etc. But If this smile app is implemented smoothly without any bias, it will surely improve the condition of the govt schools in Nagaland. But I am very much doubtful whether same yard stick will apply to those MLAs, directors, high bosses' wifes or not. 2ndly teachers are not the only govt salaried staffs in Nagaland...... Moreover, apart from this smile app, govt should provide suffecient subject techers. In our school, maths and science teachers retired since 2019, but no appointment has been made so far in spite of repeated request and there are many schools in ENPO areas without suffecient teachers. Schools in ENPO areas are the most neglected and deprived schools in Nagaland. If not beleive one can collect school datas....
In town area teachers attendance will be good but in many rural areas most of the teachers kept proxy teachers, so, this kind of app is needed especially in rural areas.

My humble suggestion for the concern department is that the department should come up with Notification with detailed explanation as how to go about for leaves, absentees panelty, etc. Not just simply announcing the launch of SMILE app without any head and tail.

I have one simple question - how does this technology guarantee that teachers are actually teaching with dedication, even if they attend school regularly? Some might just sit in the staff room, chatting away instead of doing their job. I have seen it happen myself when I worked as a substitute teacher. One teacher would arrive late, spend class time gossiping in the staffs' room and when she did enter the classroom, she would just draw fruits on the board and tell students to copy them while scrolling on her phone. Such teachers shouldn’t be in the profession.
Appreciated for the government for introducing SMILE APP for teachers attendance but in my opinion every departments should be given SMILE APP as everyone should be treated equally and there should not be bias as per the Fundamental Rights of India.
It's a good initiative by govt of Nagaland ,, i also expect that govt will utilise $68 million dollars released from World Bank properly..also there are many schools (GMS and GPS) in my division run by only 1 teacher ,,with that single teacher we cannot expect to get quality education even though they are present all the time.
Even the Government of Assam faced the same problem in implementing this app at initial stage but now SMILE app in assam is working properly and the teachers working in far flung areas of Assam are sincerely attending the schools and performing their duties. GON should also work on this app so that there won't be a problem in the coming days. As technology advances the government also needs to catch up. Using of technology is necessary in today's world for more convenient working system like in the central department each and everything can be monitored from the central Directorate. 👍

Appreciate the initiative of the govt . But there is no improvement since the trail last year . Log in and log out problem even in offline mode . Most teachers are unable to give attendance and most teachers waste 1/2 hours trying to log in leading to inability to take class properly. Wastage of time trying to log in. It would be better if the govt. can come up with other alternatives like eye scanner or upgradation of the app.

I don't think this attendance system would have been implemented without intensive planning.
We can't always have a close-minded attitude ho. Our older generation are always so fixed on the negative, and not ready to go through any growing pains for change and improvement. As if a beautiful campus will make some govt teachers suddenly start coming to work who haven't been coming to work regularly for the past 10-20 years.
Sir Head Teacher spoke well because he actually seems to be well-informed. Training bhi hoishey koishey. So, the Principal did not attend any training? Or no-one from her school went for training and brought back the info for all the teachers and staff??

If any government servant is unfit to serve than he/she be served a notice to tender invalidation or voluntary pension process.

Tech is not 100% full proof. But inviting media to highlight this issue even though it just got implemented means having some ulterior motive. Besides, this Principal's mindset is very negative. Head Teacher highlighted the issue in much better way. Coming from tech background I know it'll get resolved soon. Btw Good initiative by the Govt. But I wonder whether this app will be another gimmick of the govt. just to utilise the fund or else how they'll enjoy crores of money.

The education department, core of a society, should set a good example and assist GON initiation. This is a welcome positive step towards the betterment of the naga people. Hopefully it will be implemented in all other necessary sectors in time. With your educated status quo the department has a vital role as always and will be.
Good initiative by the dptt🎉 Please also give parallel importance to some major concerns like infrastructures, basic amenities, accessibility, connectivity issues, backdoor appointments, teachers quarters, teachers salary, equal pay for equal work, teachers transfers (as per NEP 2020 - online system for transparency), loopholes in students teacher ratio, also excess of teachers in Dimapur, Kohima etc vs shortage of teachers in far flung areas etc. There should be parallel measures so as not to deprive the other necessary requirements as well 😮 . I hope and pray🙏 to see a revolutionary changes in implementing transparency and accountability of all concerns by bringing efficient policies and programmes 🙏.

Hello! Talk about other departments too. Education deptt. Isn't the only department that can wipe out the dirts of all the departments. This is really not applicable for our state. Its like trying to wear necktie with traditional lower robe in ao( langtem) so its not applicable for our state. And please viewers talk about other deptt. atleast the teachers knows their designation and where their offices are located. But in other department lotsa employees doesn't know their designation and the location where he/she is working leaving aside their attendance. This is really funy Hahahhaha

Appreciate the initiative of the govt . But there is no improvement since the trail last year . Log in and log out problem even in offline mode . Most teachers are unable to give attendance and most teachers waste 1/2 hours trying to log in leading to inability to take class properly. Wastage of time trying to log in. It would be better if the govt. can come up with other alternatives like eye scanner or upgradation of the app.
