Kingston makes RAM kits with both XMP & EXPO profiles.

Both works but for default speed only which is 4800mhz. If overclock the speed using either XMP or Expo is not really guaranteed the system will be stable especially for AMD processor. Most of the time while gaming for a while, there will be a blue screen error and then the system reboots automatically.

forgot to mention that amd expo has issues with their own amd ryzen cpus and mobos, many users get bsod when boosting ddr5 over 5200 mhz that is safe number claimed by amd, so if you buy ddr 5 6000 7000 8000 mhz speed ram you might have issues with voltage, crashes and stability if you enable expo. intle on other hand didnt had these issues, or at least not in that magnitude as amd has now. keep in mind this.

My biggest question is, I bought some Vengeance 6000MGz for my new Am5 build and I realized not to long ago it’s Intel xmp ready, would that be a issue with a Am5 build? Or should I be fine and I’ll just have to play with them alittle bit? I don’t wanna OC my Ram honestly so I’m not sure if that makes a difference

    • @mst231
      @mst231 Год назад +4

I have the VERY exact issue, i bought these: corsair vengeance 6000Mhz cl30 :
CMH64GX5M2B6000C30 (XMP), but I needed these: CMH64GX5M2B6000Z30 (EXPO), its the same identic ram, just one letter differs in the code. I didn't manage to catch that up, and now the RAM won't work with my motherboard strix x670e-e and ryzen 9 processor, at least not at the desired OC speed!
However , i think yes we can play with them, BUT its not the same, because EXPO offers quite dynamic entries for AMD + additional features, i believe and makes it more optimal, maybe even some performance boost. Setting those manually, even if it matches AMD EXPO profile in numbers, might be not the same result... :/

Hey, I need some advice on a RAM configuration issue with my new build!
    Problem:
I'm building a new PC with an MSI B650M WiFi Gaming motherboard and I have 4 sticks of DDR5 RAM but there's a mix:
    - 2 sticks of Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5 6200 MHz (XMP).
    - 2 sticks of Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5 6000 MHz (XMP/EXPO).
I know mixing RAM with different speeds and profiles (XMP and EXPO) can be problematic, so I’m trying to find the best way to get them to work together stably.
    My Proposed Solution:
    1. I plan to install only the 6000 MHz EXPO kit first and enable the EXPO profile to let the motherboard automatically set the timings, frequency, and voltage.
    2. I’ll note down the settings (timings, frequency, and voltage) applied by the EXPO profile.
    3. Then, I’ll install the 6200 MHz XMP kit and disable the XMP/EXPO profiles in the BIOS.
    4. I’ll manually input the settings I noted earlier to match the EXPO kit’s configuration.
    5. Finally, I’ll run some stability tests to make sure everything works fine with all 4 sticks installed.
    What’s Your Take
Do you think this method will work to achieve a stable setup, or is there a better approach you would recommend for mixed XMP and EXPO RAM on an AM5 motherboard? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

It will roll back to the much slower default speed. Like back then I tried a 3200Mhz ram will rolls back to 2200Mhz. It was another AMD specialized RAM card.

Could there be issues with having memory that is 2sticks EXPO & 2 sticks XMP? Didn't notice at first when I got my new computer, AMD Ryzen 7 7800x3D with 64GB of ram. 2 32GB Corsair Vengeance 6000MHz, so 4 sticks of memory, hadn't heard about ryzen 7000's not liking lots of sticks at the time, all on a MSI ProX670-P Wifi mobo. I've had some odd behaviour. Turns out 1 ram kit was XMP & the other EXPO. Its running a fresh Windows 11 install but not everything is running perfectly. Odd behaviour happens. Like I stream and my mic is thru the Focusrite 2i2 gen 3 and since moving to the new PC viewers have been saying the mic drops out at random times. Used it on my old system and it was flawless so not sure what might be causing issues. There are other quirks too, like if I install a game from steam or several non of the icons show up on the desktop until I manually tell it to refresh or I reboot the computer. Could this be ram funny business or is there other issues going on? I do day long gaming and it mostly seems fine otherwise.

I just built my gaming pc x670e gigabyte with amd 7800x3d accidentally, bought a gskill 2x32gb trident z5 ddr5 6000mhz cl30 intel xmp, because gigabytes website support section for that mb lists intel kits for gskill for some reason even though its an am5 platform mb. Pc ran fine for about a month with xmp enabled, then today it didn't boot, had to clear cmos to disable xmp because i couldn't get into bios. Then it ran fine running at 4800mhz default. I would suggest matching platform with oc type when it comes to ram. I ordered a new kit with slightly faster timings and it has expo instead of amd. I would suggest as a rule of thumb, always check the ram manufactures website after you check your mb support section, and don' t fully trust it either. And be sure to match the platform, xmp for intel and expo for amd!

These guy at least did the good job telling you about compability .. bcs most of tech tubers dont tell you how can you brick
your mem controller on cpu with xmp. There is a reason why intel says if you do enqble xmp you are voiding your warranty.
When you run XMP or any overclocked memory profile, you're essentially overclocking the memory controller on the CPU. Just like how your chip's OC isn't guaranteed to work, the rated spec of your memory controller also guarantees it up to that point and that point only.
So these "tech guys" started just 1or 2 years to know about xmp .. but i did this long time before there was any "tech tuber" telling you "goooo enable xmp it will boost your pc"
Listen xmp can cause your cpu to die they dont say that .. they dont say oh watch if your motherboard supports xmp or cpu ? Why bcs then it wouldnt be a
    nice video "tip"
These people whould do anything for views. Bcs if they tell you it may work you wouldn care bcs it is not 100% sure
My advice is dont listen them, try yourself and test it !! Bcs many of viewers doesnt have same configs, ram, cpu, motherboard. So what that means?
It means if you are running on intel and you have 12th gen locked cpu
The System Agent voltage has been locked to 0.9-0.92V on non K 12th gen SKUs thanks to the reintroduction of IVR (Integrated Voltage Regulator). You cannot get around this, it is locked inside the CPU since the VCCSA voltage is generated inside the CPU (once again, thanks to the IVR). Raising the VCCIN/AUX voltage that feeds into the IVR does not do anything to alleviate the issue.
So you may end up with bricked cpu !
Some of you dont have same ram kits or have more ram than these "tech tubers"
Why does that matter ohhh it matters a lott when it comes to mem controller on cpu bcs you are gonna stress it and burn the cpu's mem controller
So if you gonna enable xmp dont just go and enable it like these nerds are telling you.
Go check your cpu compatibility ram and motherboard ...
And after you do enable the xmp test the ram with apps like memtest,
I hope you guys will find this comment useful. And sorry for bad english.
