The most amazing thing about The Cure is that there musical range is SO HUGE and yet you instantly know it's them. From this to Fascination Street to A Forest to Hot, Hot, Hot to Lullaby. They can pretty much do anything.
and so good of him to let us have a look inside :D listening to him always makes me just wanna write poems and clean my room and dance and hug everyone... or cry and feel cinematic and have introvert epiphanies and other such useful breakthroughs
Er... I'm an old Cure fan (old enough to have seen them live with Phil and Andy) but you do realise this is more or less a ripoff/pisstake of 'Party Fears Two' by the Associates???
@@WS-fw9jg I never knew that and I own the 12 inch and album to which song you refer to (party fears two) by the Associates. My question is why did they "poke fun" at that song?
Oh my god! I m 15 years old again! When I was totally obsessed with The Cure, Robert Smith was the man of my life, I wanted his hair and I could not understand What he was singing about because I could not speak English at all then but still, whatever he sang was gospel to my ears! What a great and that was!
This was the first video I ever saw of them and I remember just thinking how Robert Smith was so unearthly and how his voice can't be pinned down, as if he is singing just above the ground. A few years later I waited outside the UNO Lake Front Arena in New Orleans until they came out the back door and I met all of them. Robert Smith hissed at me and borrowed my lipstick! He was trollied and very funny and to my young self, it was a dream fulfilled. Never to be repeated, such a memory.
What a lovely story. When I was 18 in 1995, I waited outside The Vic in Chicago to meet Bjork. It was frigid cold outside, so there wasn't a chance to speak, but she did autograph my Violently Happy CD single. :) It's a highlight of my life.
One of the most underrated songs in the world. I heard it for the first time when I was 16, I used to walk around my district , smoke and listen to it thousands of times. Now I’ve grown up and every time I hear this beautiful song I go back to these pure beautiful times. It evokes so many emotions at the same time: sadness, happiness , melancholy and many other… there aren’t words in the world to describe my feelings while listening to it. Thank u, The Cure, for the greatest memories
i appreciate the cures wide range of variety within their music from seventeen seconds to kiss me kiss me kiss me. i absolutely love robert and their band so much.
You can't get more 80s than this song... I remember the first time I listened/saw this song in TV and how shocked I was by the amazing combination of images and sounds.
Lyrics: Flicka flicka flicka Here you are Cata cata cata Caterpillar girl Flowing in And filling up my hopeless heart Oh never never go Dust my lemon lies With powder pink and sweet The day I stop Is the day you change And fly away from me You flicker And you're beautiful You glow inside my head You hold me hynotized I'm mesmerized Your flames The flames that kiss me dead
Finally! The video is available in the US now. I had to get a VPN to get my fix, which was cumbersome. I love this song. One of my favorites by The Cure. I called my daughter my little caterpillar girl when she was newborn. You flicker And you're beautiful You glow inside my head You hold me hypnotized I'm mesmerized... Now my little caterpillar girl is expecting her own baby. 💝
This is my bestest song ever 🐛💓 I am 50 & appreciating the beauty of The Cure at a deeper level than in my youth. Substance is timeless.Bless you guys 💜
"The day I stop is the day you change and fly away from me." Damn, that line resonates with me so much. I knew someone who was my whole world, but she out-grew me and left without realising I needed her way more than she needed me.
Rejection builds obsession. We tend to see the fantasy of an x rather than the reality more so when we are in a state of loss, it's our brains way of trying to cheer up a lousy situation.

It really wasn't. It was actually worse. Those of us who liked the Cure in 84 were outcasts. They were never played on radio till 86. And they still played small venues. It was frustrating being kept down by hair bands.
Brings back childhood memories. I was just a 5th grader way back then. They never aged and their music has been so consistently melodic, catchy and unique.
How beautiful they all were, I will always love them, I remember hearing them back when I was in the fifth grade lol and I've loved them ever since. This song in particular was one of my favorites.
I recall being totally mesmerised by Robert Smith in this video there was nothing like it at the time I've been a fan of the cure ever since and that's a long time 🇬🇧
@E Huh? I visited his exhibition, with some of his original sketches, and there were drawings of Edward Scissorhands (he didn't have a name back then, he scribbled "Gardener?" near the sketch) that predated the movie by quite some years. Who did create Edward Scissorhands according to you? Never heard of this before, curious to hear more about it.
This was played at my mums funeral 4 weeks ago. surreal to have such happy memories together with my mum when it comes to this song (oh how we would sing along to this song, BADLY!!) ....and then to hear it on THAT day....amazing song and an AMAZING mum she was!!!
Love this song, love The Cure and brings back so many amazing memories. First time when we heard it, back in the 80s, when we enjoyed listening to it in the car or just hanging out and the clubs that we visited, a lot of and only new wave clubs and even saw them in concert once, but we had nose bleed seats, so we just heard the music and hang out with some very cool people. We met people, enjoyed the music and just enjoyed life. What a great time it was for entertainment and music industry. Makes me so nostalgic. This music is timeless and ageless.
My late dad always said the true mark of a good song was if you could hum or whistle the tune and people recognised it... How many cure songs fitted this criteria? Great group.

It's because of the funny voice from the singer.
So glad I found this music again my mom used to listen to it before my dad turned into a asshole they used to be goth.v
yes, indeed.
there are 13th, let's go to bed, push, etc, so many ...

There are not enough words to describe just how much I love this song.

I love The Cure, they are the best therapy for all diseases of your soul :3
100% agreed. that's what the cure is for me 😊💚

One of the most poetic and beautiful ballads ever recorded by a rock band.
Robert's 'do is the key to this video. I stuck my fingers into a 120 volt wall outlet but still couldn't get my hair like his.

This song wouldn't have been possible without the contribution of Andy Anderson , send him good vibes , he's got cancer and he's on his last days :(
