Greetings from the UK. Thank you so much for creating this. Absolutely loved it. I grew up watching Knight Rider. Now at 44, I have various Knight Rider toys on display in my office. I have a few KITT diecast models, the semi and a comlink watch. Thank you.
This is mindblowing. I’ve yearned for this since 1986 when I watched Knight Rider for the first time. Great presentation. Couldn’t stop once I was started.
I think this is awesome idea, not only for Knight Rider fans. You know so many details and stories about the show. If you continue doing this I already look forward to your future episodes. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
As a result of this video I rewatched the pilot again for the millionth time. KITT and knight rider was all the talk in elementary school one Monday morning. I couldn’t watch cuz I had to goto bed at 9 pm on school nights. LOL. Thankfully they moved the show to Friday’s after the dukes of hazzard. A clear example of a guy driving KITT w a seat costume happens at the 60 minute mark of the pilot. They didn’t fool a 9 year old me, I remember spotting that gaffe back then. LOL.
Very interesting, thank you. Back when this was first aired, i was about 6 or 7. And this triggered some memories. Even at that age i picked up on the different cars being used. I knew about the Pilot nose cone. The different voiceboxes. And even the font changes on some of the dash indications. Cant believe i picked all that up as a young kid !.
...i am a huge KR fan and the effort and knowledge you are giving us fans back is hard to put it in words...than you for doing this content...can wait to see next episode...
This is brilliant!! I thought I was the only one to notice so much!! I have been a massive fan since I was eight when Knight Rider first aired. Forty years later, KITT still looks incredible, a timeless classic.
We need more of this! This is soo cool, so many facts and details that you can share about the episodes makes me want to watch the entire series once again, WITH commentary!
I was trying to work out what you said at 11:48 as I live in the UK but I couldn't recognise that name. It's actually Beaulieu Palace which is pronounced "Bewley". Just thought you might like to know for future reference. Great video and takes me back to watching as a kid in the 80s - can't remember when we first got the show here in the UK but would have been a few years after it was shown in the US.
I'm all for another one. Do it for yourself even if other people do not want it. You earned the right to do it. "One Man Can Make a Difference" ... In the Knight Rider Fandom. God Bless man.
This was amazing. Just sat through Goliath after getting caught up on many other of your videos and thought, what other commentaries do you have. This is unbelievable. The knowledge you guys have on every frame. My late brother and I watched every night on Sci fi and we would have tallies of how many KITTS were used shot to shot and we knew at least 3 or 4 including miniatures. Anyway, I love stuff like this and with an hour run time I thought it would drone on and on but it went by so fast and it's so exciting to hear all the details. I don't know what is more work, the origonal production, or your break downs! Keep em coming please. Thank you!
Today I am starting my own re-watch of the show, and I plan on watching each of your commentary videos after each episode. Keep it up! I'm also wearing my Knight Rider Historians t-shirt that I just got.
I have a theory that Knight Rider was inspired by Mad Max. At the start of the first Mad Max there is a character called The Nightrider. The Interceptor is a sleek black car. Max wears black leather. The Mad Max 2 poster features the tagline "Just one man can make a difference."
This is amazing. What an enourmous research work you did. And what a dedication. Well, even in my senior age I am still in love with Knight Rider. And yes, I am a woman. Thank you from CR.
Another fantastic job. Please keep this up! Fun fact the stuntman on the left of that picture still is Terry Leonard who did the stunt driving for John Carpenters Christine.
For those who are perhaps wondering, as I was, the UK castle location for the stock footage of the F.L.A.G. building is Beaulieu Palace House, pronounced byoulee fyi.
Great job with this video. This was sooo awesome and fascinating to watch. You should definitely make more of these for this season and the rest of the series.
Love Love Love Love this!!! Oh my goodness so many interesting facts and tidbits! As a life long Knight Rider fan thank you for all of your hard work! Please do the entire series or at least another episode! Just hoped on the Patreon train. Keep up the great work!
I loved watching this Joe. I have been a fan of the show since it was on the air. I watch with my kids and have always been obsessed with the show. I would love to watch more shows with your documentary.
That first interior shot (seen here at 18:20) has always impressed me. That was masterfully created and even with working TVs. Even though it's way back in 1982 it still looks amazing for today. Too bad the studio never put it back as good as original after making the molds for copies. It shows the original builder put some real personal effort and care in it the 1st time
Loved all of the information about the pilot episode. I say continue this series and I am very eager to hear about the facts from the rest of the series.
Awesome!!! I grew up watching Knight Rider, and was always drawing cars, essentially, this show and the episode Custom Kitt, when Kitt had the drawings scattered all over the bonnet was one of the things that made me want to one day do car design, which is pretty much what I do now!! The most memorable scene I always have in my mind was the one you mentioned, in this pilot episode, Kitt waking up and breaking out of Comtron to rescue Michael from jail! Would love to see the rest of the non-directors cut of the entire show! Great stuff! :)
Definitely appreciated. I'm just happy to see this show still have wheels. Was a major Knight nut back when it aired and still am. Looking forward to the ongoing declassified Knight industries insights...
BRILLIANT!!! Just one correction. The Tennessee Gin And Cotton was at 19706 Ventura Blvd, Woodland Hills and it Burned down many years ago, it was not “torn down” except,(obviously) after the fire!
Fun Fact: The Tennessee Gin and Cotton Company bar and restaurant also appeared in the martial arts movie No Retreat, No Surrender (1985). The lead characters go there to attend a dance competition. I recognized it from its appearance in Knight Rider's pilot episode when I was watching No Retreat, No Surrender.
Regarding Devon's "superficial" line, he is not denying the fact that they turned Michael Long's car into KITT. He is merely alluding to the fact that it is now a different beast.
Yeah he said any similarities between the cars were superficial, as in Michael could only see they looked the same from the outside, so Devon was completely right. Language is a powerful tool that needs to be interpreted correctly.
IDK. They could've had a Trans Am series 3 of their own, & was already working on it. I mean they did have KARR, who looked exactly like KITT, & I doubt that they used someone else's car to make him? Plus they'd have to remove the Tan paint on the bottom of the body, & take off where it said Trans Am on the car, & remove the Pontiac emblem off of the wheels. & to make it that Indestructible,...Any mechanic would tell you they'd have to remove every bolt nut & washer to replace it with a bonded shell coating,. The engine would've had to be a design like no other. There just a lot of detail questions that come to mind when wondering if they used Michael Long's car?
When Michael says "Devon, that is my car, I left it out on the desert." Devon says "No, it may look like your car, but in actuality this car is probably the most expensive car in the world."
That was so cool and I learn some new stuff as well as well of stuff that I knew of beforehand . Please do more I found it interesting and informative . Awesome 👍 job and keep up the great work.
This is gonna be a awesome series! I have rewatched the entire series multiple times, and every time I start it over I always seem to nit pick a little more and point out stuff as I go through.
Love it! Please do more of these!!! Longtime fan. I'll be honest: I immediately clicked on this when I saw it cause I know KRH has a TON of knowledge (I was more interested in this than the commentary on the DVD set....come to think of it, I'm not even sure I've listened to the DVD commentary (or not since '04)). Totally hoping you continue doing this!
I'm so happy that someone so familiar with the whole Knight Rider story and deep insight and knowledge of the tiny details points them out in this format. All those things, from the different nose styles on KITT to the different voice box designs and floppy looking cars in the series, have been observed by me and friends of mine who also share the love for the series for decades now - we just couldn't make any sense out of it. This is awesome stuff and I'll definitely watch every part of it and recommend it to my friends, too. Thank you for doing this - subbed and bell'd! :)
I was in the kindergarten when Knight Rider first came out on TV in September of 1982 and I think that they continued the show itself until 1986 and I own the whole series on DVD
I saw the video was an hour long so I thought “it’s a busy day, I’ll just watch the first couple of minutes”... but the commentary was so interesting I watched the whole thing, haha! Keep it coming, I would love to know more about the making of this great show. Cool cat in the background, too! :)
The emblem on the steering wheel always makes me think of the thunder cats logo. I read there was a train crash and a lot of Trans Ams were wrecked and given to the studio to use with the stipulations the cars would never be sold after using them.
Great stuff Joe 👍👍 Really really enjoyed that, yes most of what you said I knew about but there were still a few little nuggets here and there that I wasn’t aware off. Bring on the rest my good man 👍👍
I absolutely LOVED listening to this, thank you so much for the upload (would love to know some bts knowledge of my favourite episode 'Trust Doesn't Rust') but upon watching the pilot a few months ago (when I re-watched the series I skipped past the pilot) and found it funny that the front nose magically changed during the episode, but I didn't realise KITT actually had seat belts at one point (I would love to know WHY they were removed). There are RUclipsrs who are fanboys who just want to talk, and then there are the true professionals like yourself.
Bravo, sir.
He didn't even know how many episodes there are in the complete series 0:08

I'm a Brazilian knight rider fan, and I'm enjoying this project a lot.
The scene where KITT crashes out of 💾COMTRON: Definitely my favorite moment of the series!😄😄
Im such a 70s-80s Universal tv fan I couldnt stop watching this !!!! Well done !!! Love the details !!!

It brings the series to life more, it was a real treat, thankyou. I hope you do lots more like this.

Outstanding! Loved this so much! Keep up the fantastic work
HELL YEAH.... CHRISTMAS CAME EARLY
I have a theory that Knight Rider was inspired by Mad Max. At the start of the first Mad Max there is a character called The Nightrider. The Interceptor is a sleek black car. Max wears black leather. The Mad Max 2 poster features the tagline "Just one man can make a difference."
Knight Rider was inspired from the German Movie "Superbug" where a Volkswagen beetle was equipped with a Super Intelligent Computer
A fantastic video and awesome behind the scenes knowledge, a brilliant RUclips channel and so many videos to catch up with. Thank you.
Much appreciated!
Love the throw back to “Goliath Returns”! I’m going to binge seasons 1 & 2 prepare for season 3!

Regarding Devon's "superficial" line, he is not denying the fact that they turned Michael Long's car into KITT. He is merely alluding to the fact that it is now a different beast.
Exactly, that's how I always took it. Same bones, but essentially a totally different car as they've modified it so heavily.
Yeah he said any similarities between the cars were superficial, as in Michael could only see they looked the same from the outside, so Devon was completely right.
Language is a powerful tool that needs to be interpreted correctly.
K.I.T.T. in the series was not made from Michael's car. He plainly says "NO!" when Michael says that's his car he left out in the desert.
