I do actually have a box of Critical Defense and another box of PDX1, which my 1911 is loaded with. Also PDX1 that my Nova is loaded with. The rest is cheap FMJ and some cheap hollow point ammo. My military friend at work just buys cheap hollow point ammo, because he is smarter than I am.

Your straight forward, informative and knowledgeable videos are to be commended and recommended to both a novice looking to learn or a old timer looking to learn correctly. Thank you. Now gotta browse to your site to view your test data and video and to stock up on ammo.

Great Video! This seems to be a disturbing trend in RUclips land. Just because some of these channels are getting ad money, they automatically think their opinion is worth what they are being paid. Now they all turned into E-beggers cause they aren't being paid for their opinions anymore. Which makes me laugh!

You might not consider yourself an expert but the information you give and the training you have received sure makes you a great source for many who want a BS advise. I started by watching your shotgun for home defense series and now I've been watching almost every single video you have posted because the information is excellent. I've been an infantryman in the Army for the last 9 years and one thing we say is "there is always room for improvement". Thank you for what you guys do I know for being a company that sells ammo, there is no need at all to do this and you do for the pure sharing of knowledge and trying to build an overall better gun community. Training, repetition and determination will all of us a long way. Once again thank you for what you guys are doing and please continue sharing ur knowledge and everything you learn from experts and ur own experiences.

There are lots LEOs and military veterans who have few skills and little knowledge about firearms and self defense - so that shouldn't even be a starting point. Fact is, there are literally millions of current and former LEOs and veterans in the US, of which only a very small proportion have sufficient expertise and experience to offer reliable advice on and around subjects related to firearms and self defense.

I’m certain that a 3 day firearms training would benefit all of us. You have been very blessed. The truth is that 3 day training classes are not very pragmatic for the non-professional shooter. If LE and security is your primary or secondary function then it’s worth every dollar. It would be unique to see experts certify local trainers with their program into 1 day segments. That way the majority of us would be able to access the wisdom of the well recognized trainers within the budget of most shooters. That is why I love all of your segments. Not only is it extremely educational and informative, but it’s delivered in a world class format. You have an exceptional channel and it’s FREE.

Well, if it's not too late to leave a comment, I want to say that it's beautifully obvious that Chris is informed and does helpful videos. I would welcome more videos on the self-defense aspect of firearms. Chris is virtually the only person who has pointed out that revolvers are easy to draw and hold, and that some semi-autos are much easier to shoot than others. The size/weight of the handgun vs calibre of ammo is an issue that few other reviewers have treated honestly and succinctly. That we can't have the most powerful calibre firearm and put the same gun in our pocket and really enjoy shooting it, is a subject that Chris has been very frank and even brave about.

only metal bullet I've seen bounce off a heavy jacket wasn't a bullet but a .18 pellet out of an underpowered compressed air handgun, even those can at least stick and occasionally penetrate a heavy jacket wen the tank's full... sure, then they won't have enough energy to hurt anything behind it but yeah. It is true, though, that organized thugs will have friends to cover each other, that's the first thing my self defense instructor told me (IRL, not some weird RUclips channel)

Perhaps one of the most valuable defensive firearms videos I’ve ever seen, THANK YOU Chris and Lucky Gunner. When one has been shooting with some seriousness for over five decades and tries to eliminate the prevalent (90+ percent) internet garbage, a very few sources stand “head and shoulders” above the pack in their credibility, documentation, experience, education, logic, articulate teaching, lack of bombast, and civility. Chris Baker clearly is one of that handful.
There are a few times when my opinion has respectfully differed from his, however, I have never - not once - foo drama his thoughts and recommendations to be other than sensible and worthy of extremely serious consideration.

Thank you for the great content your channel continues to produce. I agree 100% that just because someone has served, that alone does not make them an expert. My service in the military was very technical and had nothing to do with firearms, self defense, etc. It wasn’t until later in my life that I learned the way of the gun and the older I get the more I realize just how little I know. Thanks again and God bless.

    @rangersmith4652 5 лет назад +1

The most important criteria for choosing whom on RUclips to trust are the number of rounds fired through the number of different guns and from the number of different postures in the intro, along with the ability to maintain the "I'm a badass" look during the aforementioned intro. But seriously, the best advice you'll probably never get on RUclips for armed self defense is, "Always do everything in your power to avoid having to use your firearm on another person, and if that's not your primary focus, don't buy a gun."

About 15 seconds before you said it., I said to myself, "Well, what makes him qualified to give advice on self defense?" lol Seriously, as a rookie gun owner, I have been watching a ton of youtube video and there is a metric ton of people that give advice who really shouldn't be. You don't have to be an expert to tell that some of these people really have no business even owning a firearm. But you are a no BS kinda source that explains things clearly, without bravado. Just down to earth advice. I've enjoyed your Home Defense Shotgun videos and have watched them multiple times. I am practicing daily to be able to protect my family and home using this as my primary weapon. Thanks for the advice. I look forward to purchasing ammo from Lucky Gunner Ammo in the near future.

Great video and good advice. I've found that this sort of thing isn't limited to just the dark corners of the internet. A former friend of mine often commented on what caliber I should be carrying, ammo selection and what stance I should be using etc. like he was some sort of expert just because he served in the Army. While I don't discredit his experience, what really bothered me was his attitude that what worked for him was the only way and anything else was wrong.

Well said! I've never heard this explained better. For one thing, I've often wondered how many of the "experts" offering advice and their opinion on life and death self defense situations have ever actually BEEN in a serious self defense situation. The ones that really crack me up are the "experts" who talk about magazine capacity etc... "in a gunfight." As if they've ever actually been in a gunfight. No, the silhouette target at the range doesn't count. Thanks for this video. It needed to be talked about.

I subscribed to your channel sometime back because you make sense. I'm a retired 30 veteran law enforcement. I was a range instructor, FBI fire arms instructor. After retirement I elected to not carry a firearm, 30 yrs was enough. However people started getting shot in northern California, and I went back to being a ccw man. Recently I began to recognize that police carry and civilian carry are not the same. So I'm taking in as much as I can to be a responsible carrier of firearms. So keep up the good work. Question, can I buy ammo through you in stupid California?

You always give good advice. Even the stuff I think I already know, I still learn something. By the way, I've bookmarked your resources and I'll be doing a lot of reading. I'll also be buying more ammo. I got my order in about the same time that others would still be processing my order. Thanks.

Like you, I'm just an ordinary citizen who has taken a couple hundred hours of classes with the best in the industry. Your vids are some of the best on RUclips. I would suggest getting into IDPA or USPSA, though. It was recommended to my class by a popular former Tier 1 faceshooter and has really improved my shooting.

Good stuff, Chris. I've always ordered my ammo from a few other online sources, but I'm going to have to give Lucky Gunner a try. Very impressed with the videos you're doing.

Something that people often forget about, there are a whole lot of pencil pushers in the military and law enforcement. People might cite having a military backround, that's about as pertinent, as working in a Mcdonalds.

Also, being in combat in Fallujah is not main street America. Having a squad of soldiers, armored humvees, air support and machine guns, is a completely different situation than an armed assailant in the parking lot. I find most of my military buddies lack the knowledge to be competent self defense instructors, even at the range. It's a combat mindset all the time.

This is why I like Paul Harrel so much! He always emphasizes everything he does is not fact, just his opinion, and that his demonstrations are just that: demonstrations. Shame he doesn't have a million subs yet

I have a gift, when it comes to sniffing out BS. You're right. There's plenty of it, on RUclips. But, there's also some very good content on RUclips. Your channel is one of them, sir. Keep it up!!!

Lucky Gunner is great because the opinions expressed therein are stated AS opinions, reflecting personal preferences by people with obvious qualifications in their topics. Too often online, self-appointed schmexperts make wild, blanket, or absolute statements about the defensive use of weapons, and then belittle anyone with a differing view. The "bigger is better" caliber argument is an obvious example.

this applies to EVERYTHING online (hell, in-person too) and not just guns. never have even the smallest trust in anything you read online from some random person
