      I have a 4003S that I got back in the summer of 2020 and it’s been my go-to (as well as the main bass I play in my band) ever since, Ricks just have that signature tone to them and I fucking love it

      Rickenbacker is 32 which is shorter than regular bass (34) so Danny just short.

    Seriously though, Tatsu has one of the coolest bass tones! All of their albums have a somewhat different production.
    A few examples are Killifornia as done in the video here, other songs that sounds a bit different is, Badlands, Red Ripper Blues, El Padrio has a really cool groovy part towards the end, Cranley Garden, Murder Castle Blues.
    I like the Early Compilation alot, now only found on Vinyl or RUclips. Songs like Reverend, Room 213, Painfield and Son of A Gun is really cool, it's more clean and low end rather than distortion heavy as the later records. Still great, it's my favorite Doom Metal band! 🤘

    I miss my Rick. Sold it when I was young and stupid. But at least I had it for a few glorious years. Now I'm just old and stupid and minus one Rickenbacker 4003.😢
    At least when Tatsumi wants to sell his Rick, he can say it's still brand new and totally unused from the 9th fret up.🤓👍

    I watched a clip of Quiet Riot playing Metal Health at the US Festival in 1983. Check out how Rudy Sarzo is holding his bass and playing in the breakdown part where the guitars drop out.

    Side note: their cover of Blue Oyster Cult’s song “Cities on Flame With Rock and Roll” is one of the grooviest things I’ve ever heard. HIGHLY recommend!

    As a music theorist, the playing on the neck is BRILLIANT because the closer to the bridge the louder and higher the harmonics: closer to the center of the strings means more quiet harmonics and thus the LOWEST TONE POSSIBLE

    He is using a Muff and an octaver [sounds like upper and lower octaves], with what sounds like some kind of modulation [sounds like a TERC or tight tri-chorus].

    Can you do Will Rahmer's bass tone from the band mortician. The guy is absolutely mental. Has an ampeg 810 svt but still plays an Ibanez gsr 200 and was arrested for stealing a car with a knife in Poland.

    The thing is, when you pluck at (or near) the octave of the note, you get the thickest tone. Pluck your E like you normally do. Great. NOW pluck it right at the 12th fret. Hear that? Its all that harmonic stuff. A fun thing to do is trying this with fretting the strings. Pay attention to the markers and inlay.

    I love Rickenbacker guitars! I played regular guitar not bass but I've messed around with a couple and would love to have a Ricky, I had a Rickenbacker electric guitar but ended up having to sell it a while back, I miss it though.

    I've seen Church of Misery live. They put on a great show. I never knew they had such a cult following. The crowd exploded when they started playing. Pretty wild audience for a doom show.

    I had the honor of taking a couple of lessons from First Lady of Bass Carol Kaye and first thing she said was “lower your bass down so you can play it properly” I actually thought I had thought it was low. When she said lower I asked if she meant low like The Ramones. Yes was the answer. True fact.

    I dropped the G string, moved E, A, and D strings down. I filed the ex-E nut to allow a .135" string, tuned to B0. The old Motown trick.

    I like the lowest bass note by gravity thing. Just a thought - check out Mickey Hart of the Grateful Dead use of his custom instrument. I know it’s not technically a bass but it’s down in the bass area of sound. And that sound is looooooooooow.
