Never could put my finger on it but there has always been something a bit "off" at the nerdist. Because Science was literally the only thing of theirs I watched because of it. I kept expecting Jessica Chobit to to start offering me applesauce & flavorade...
@@nicholashodges201 Yeah, they've long since become a mouthpiece for whatever company the higher-ups want to make nice with at the time. The articles on the website in particular have been trying to justify things like Star Trek: Discovery, the latest series of Doctor Who, and defending Rian Johnson every time he decides to antagonize another massive fanbase. Unfortunately, most of the "fan" and pop culture media sites/companies are like that, and people are sick of it, which the numbers and revenue reflect, forcing them to change business tactics to be more inflammatory to generate clicks (and thus revenue), only for it backfire in this rapidly escalating feedback loop. Of course, this is all just general trends, and there could be other factors at play, but when I said "sinking ship," I really did mean it.

@@DestryStClair-wm7vx I dont think he is the type to air dirty laundry In front of god and everybody. But if it's enough for jabs to be peppered in here and there that people at nerdist would understand without a doubt. I would say it probably didnt go well for Kyle. Considering he is the only thing I think of when it comes to that channel and I thought he owned it. I feel like this may not have been the best plan on their part. Because kyle leaving on good terms would have hurt them drastically. From what it seems like he didnt leave on good terms meaning that nerdist hurt Kyle. Which makes me want to hurt them but this is the internet and that "now" faceless organization will very quickly learn how much the subs cared for Kyle not their channel.
From what I can gather by reading in between the lines, he probably wasnt given a few things whilist working there.
1. Ability to monetize himself
2. Ample pay and credit for basically carrying the channel
3. Creative freedom
This is just my interpretation and I could be way off base.

As a creator I am thinking the prison metaphor mostly has to do with the lack of creative freedom one has when working under contract. I'm super excited to see what the creative freedom brings to this new channel
For a while, there will be two different Kyle-particles, appearing simultaneously in different channels, representing various past and present energy states, until eventually the Kyle waveform collapses and he exists only here, in the present. So, here I am, presently waiting for more Kyle.
I just found you again, first you moved from the main channel and now you're in a different dimension all together. @@cherrydragon3120 The link to his new channel would have been shared anyway. All they did is making kyle's fans (which probably is 99% of subs) think nerdist do not actually have his best interests at heart, and unsubbed as a show of loyalty.
Well, Kyle's new channel is not affiliated with them, so he is a new competitor. Not a really a wise choice to link to another channel, especially if they know that said channel is already attracting the attention of their viewers.

I used to watch some videos here and there but it's really good to see that you're able to continue to do what you do. I kind your videos interesting but I'm not a big science guy, the only thing I kind interesting is astronomy but want no type of profession relating to it. But I'm glad you could prevail and ride on. Just... Reasonably priced swag, please. No $30, single color printed T-shirts that would cost no more than $3 to produce each en masse Stateside.
@@FlyingDwarfman Fun fact about swag, unless you are willing to buy the minimum order quantity of shirts (which is frequently in the several hundreds, if not over a 1,000, and unless you are willing to personally ship said merch (or pay someone else to store and ship it), the only option is to use something like Printful or Spreadshirt, where they give you like a $2 or $3 commission. That is unless you are willing to increase the price above the base price (which is also set by the platform). That's why you end up seeing a lot of expensive merch out there for smaller channels. Unless you're willing to outlay a considerable amount of capital and time to get merch to your fans, you are stuck collecting around 10% of the ultimate sale from one of these platforms. It's a bit of a racket.
