She was 10 years of age in this performance and is 20 now studying music at university in South Africa Amira is also a wonderful warm hearted person who has been donating about half her earnings building playgrounds for poor and underprivileged children in South Africa since winning Hollands Got Talent. More than 20 have been built since then. We are so thankful to God for this precious lady. Amira has many many beautiful performances for all of us to enjoy. Every year in July (when he is not on tour with his orchestra), Andre Rieu performs for a week, sometimes for a few days more, in his hometown of Maastricht. During that week, people come from all over the world and all the hotels in the area are fully booked. But she wasn't afraid of the huge audience, not at all, on the contrary, she loved that and performed this aria as when she sang at home or during a walk... Clearly one of the most angelic voices on earth, and, for me, pure magic...

They too are out of this world, and have been ongoing since the 1930's. The Danish National girls choir, the DR Pigekoret can be heard singing O magnum Mysterium by either Lauridsen or Faber, Come out and Play, River(Joni Mitchell), Blackbird, or "Hil Dig, Frelser og Forsoner", The Junior chorus, Juniorkoret, can be heard singing White Water Hymnal, Kimer et Klocker or This Christmas Day. The Dr Bornekoret are about 8-12 and are also very good, the foundations here being laid for many good singers. They could be heard singing Selmas Sang, En pige gik i enge, or the medley Somewhere in my memory + Carol of the Bells. The choirs often join together and sing, as in the pieces Dejlig er Jorden or 'Nu Taendes Tusind Julelys". I think that you would really appreciate the dedication that these young singers apply to their craft, and think that you would recognise some of their pieces. Give them a try! They deserve to be better known outside of Denmark.

The first night focused on her, but the dvd director wanted to include more crowd reactions for the film. The other one is on YT. Andre Rieu has held this outside concert in his hometown of Maastricht annually for a couple of decades. He has also toured it abroad. Amira was 10 y 4 m. At the time. She's 20 now, and studying music at uni.
She had started receiving coaching by this point in her career. Earlier in 2014 she was in England recording her first cd, and the behind the scene's video, shows her talking with her coach, Maike, in the studio.

She is not only blessed with, what may be the most beautiful voice I've ever heard but, she is also a phenomenal young woman. She's a very humble, caring and giving person. She was named Humanitarian of the Year by the Pope when she was about 11. She is also a world class athlete making the Olympic team as a middle distance runner in 2020 (they didn't go because of the covid lockdowns). The Opera world named her Soprano of the Year a couple of years ago. She is now in college studying music. She has a lot of performances on RUclips and millions of people following her development as a singer. Welcome to the rabbit hole of Amira Willighagen. Come on in.
