I absolutely love Washington, DC. I have been there three times. Once as a kid in the school patrol and twice as an adult with my family. I have heard of the Willard Hotel. I am sure we saw it as we walked to take our White House tour. We stayed about 4 blocks over from the White House at the Hotel Harrington. This hotel has been in operation since the 20s. This is where we stayed back in the 70s with the school patrol trip, and again twice with my family. It is one block over from Ford's Theater. Sorta right between the White House and Ford's Theater. Washington is a great trip.

We have footage from the National Zoo & Ford Theater that we will eventually upload a full tour of both hopefully soon. We would love to go back with our other kids on another trip!

@@AdventureIsOutThere Awesome. Oh definitely take the family back to DC if you can. But allow me to give you a traveling tip: do not take Amtrak and sit in the coach section. We rode the train on our first trip to DC from Atlanta to DC in coach and it was horrible. I was even willing to pay for one way flights back to Atlanta from DC on a plane, but with such a short time frame, nothing was available. So on our second trip to DC we flew. Much better.

My wife and I are also from Tennessee. Thank you for the great video. We are staying at the Willard next month. Are there many people walking around in the evenings around the hotel? For instance if we wanted to eat dinner around 7pm would it be advisable to walk to and from restaurants or should we take cab/Uber/Lyft?

Hey fellow Tennesseean! It was a little cold & offseason while were were there so I would say not too many. There was law enforcement all around the White House so I would have hesitation to walk in the area to a restaurant. I would just consider a cab/uber if it was a very far restaurant you were going to.
We hope this helps & you have a great trip Jim! (we should be dropping tours of Ford's Theater & The National Zoo on here soon!)

Clueless narrators that “hallway” you called it in the hotel with the red rug is famously known as “Peacock Alley” and has a history of its own ! This hotel is replete with history and legend ! “Julia Ward Howell wrote “The Battle Hymn of the Republic “ at the Willard -shame your video ignored its unique and storied history !
