What I hated about TNT banning Bigfoot 8 was the truck was probably the safest truck on the tour. Also Scott Stevens complaining about Bigfoot not being able to compete when he got just as far as King Krunch did here with a broken truck then went to Louisville to finish 2nd on night one and won on day 2. Another thing Bigfoot 4 was a 5 year old truck when it finished 2nd in 88 and 7 when filling in for Bigfoot 8.
Scott Stevens is a crybaby. He and Everett Jasmir were just mad because they couldn't adapt to auto CAD like Bob Chandler did. They both claimed they could build a truck that would whup everyone else's ass yet all they did was ''talk'' while they were busy blustering on about their prowess Bob was toiling away in his office piecing together the next generation Monster Truck.
This was some awesome racing action that I grew up loving and really miss seeing. Feld needs to bring back this old racing style because the cookie-cutter style tracks that the monsters race on isn't the TRUE known racing style anymore and today's generation of fans want to see this racing style. #MakeMonsterTruckRacingGreatAgain
I was only 10 when this deal was going on Travis, but I think that the USHRA wanted to test something that was pretty new and 3-wide racing like this was testing the waters, so to speak and I think that this idea with the three trucks was a one and done deal. Thanks for the question, Travis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
35.09 ish look at the travel of that suspension. The coil allows far more spring travel than the leaf. Improvements that make it faster an more controlled. Saftey is of course is much better. Never seen a 3 lane race. Thanks for posting this!!!

USA-1 in 89 and 90 had to be one of the wildest, most unsafe trucks ever in televised competition.Narrow stance, metal body, lightweight and crazy power. Recipe for disaster and every other week it was in a wreck that would cripple most other teams for the season, and every run it did survive gave Dennis's wildest races a run for their money. It's a miracle that neither Wilke or Rod got hurt, or a spectator or crew. I'm guessing the reason Jasmer was so stubborn about not changing the design was the 88 championship.
All of the trucks had trouble getting stopped on this course. I'm surprised a few years later when they did a round course in Texas Stadium the trucks were better.
They made a good point here. Why wasn't Equalizer banned as well? He was dominating everybody too. If they were concerned about competition like they said then it would have been fair to Ban Equalizer as well right? Or was it just bad tensions against Bigfoot?
+Barry Allen TNT's own rule book didn't allow for a truck like Bigfoot. The drivers rallied for the ban because of a lack of automotive springs in the truck. TNT's rulebook from the year before stated that a truck must run automotive springs, which Equalizer did. Having stated that, Equalizer and Taurus went through periods of question within the TNT rules in 1989. They didn't just slide past free and clear. This form of competition suppression is quite common within monster trucks. Bigfoot would run the gambit with Penda series racing from 91-96, winning 5 of those championships. When it came to that series, Team Bigfoot basically ran the governing body with MTRA so if they wanted changes made to tracks that favored their bigfoot trucks, they could protest and changes would be made to favor bigfoot trucks.
MTuncensored You know what's funny is the biggest complainer was Scott Stevens and Bigfoot wiped the floor with him the rest of the year lol. Talk about irony.
You know Johnny, Scott Stephens did complain a lot that year, but at least he did his hardest to snag that elusive TNT World Racing Title Championship back in 1990. On another note, I was heartbroken that Dennis Anderson had a string of the worst luck with the Digger on both nights. Awesome racing action as always, MTUncensored!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Master of Disaster had some power. Coming off the line like a drag car wheels up. Didn’t see much of that back then. This was an excellent meet. Most of the trucks at this meet were top notch. I couldn’t even call the obvious best three. At first I thought USA-1/Carolina Crusher/Big Foot. Reality was Master of Disaster/Equalizer/Nite Life Equalizer was a good truck I think underpowered slightly. USA-1 had what it took this night but didn’t workout and a straight drag race I think Master of Disaster was probably strongest. The track problem was the speed on this track and no though shutdown room imo.
Nope, I don't know what USA-1 excuse was but Bigfoot ended up having a lot of problems including the transmission. His qf time was way quicker than MOD or any of the other trucks except USA-1. Hell MOD could get pass a beat up Clydesdale in this race.
You are on point including Night Life in your top three. Dave beat Equalizer, Gravedigger, Awesome Kong, Carolina Crusher, & Bigfoot all straight up among a multitude of others over the course of the weekend.
Love how Scott Steven’s was talking shit about Bigfoot being newer and better than everyone else. Meanwhile his truck was tube framed and Bigfoot 4 was a steel body truck. Steven’s crying is hilarious. Get over yourself.
In all of Scott Stephens years he never could build a truck that could take down Bigfoot, he retired without any championships while having a pacifier in his mouth and a tear in his eye looking at Bigfoot's tailgate.
@@robins5798 Scott definitely made it interesting during this year. I think that the peak was during the Penda Points Series. Once Penda ended it was definitely different I wished that the MLMT and ProMT Series would have really taken off. I find myself watching more of those videos and the stuff from the 80’s and 90’s more than the current. Don’t watch anything Monster Jam, but I due watch some of the independents shows and the Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live shows.
In 1998 in San Diego, four trucks ran at a time. Bigfoot, Grave Digger, Bear Foot and Snake Bite. It was on Inside Monster Jam at the US Off Road race.
BrendanJourney Scott is a good guy. Talked to him about these days a year, or so ago. He said that he was head strong at times back then when he didn't need to be. There was a lot going on with the rule book that didn't get talked about too though.
I love these posts. I recorded these events as a kid. Great memories.

the short wheel base of MOD also helped him launch like that.

Just think what Bigfoot 8 would of done at this race hahaha🤣🤣
I'm wondering why they didn't use the Rii after the trucks raced n then all the drivers had to do was just stop the trucks.
N that's to bad about Clydesdale getting flipped over. Why couldn't Wilde hair turn in the opposite direction or slam on his brakes.

He really was.

He was, but it made the competition more fun. This year was probably the absolute peak of monster truck racing.
