Doesn't James down picks every single note? I also sometime feel that he legato/slides some power chords instead of down picking every single black note (especially in the riff behind the solo).
@@chiscoi of course gallops can't be downpicked. I should have said James downpicks every single eighth note. Those legato power chords make the riff way easier than all the tutorials I saw saying every single eighth note power chord must be downpicked.
@@GrandPapa16 without the legato ascending power chords the riff never breathes and sounds a bit choppy. And yes, down pick those 8ths! The most important thing is to lock in and get the feel/groove right.

Gallop rhythms are not down-picked. And yes, some power chords are played with legato phrasing (sliding into), as demonstrated in the video!
