The first time I saw them back in the early 80s, they still couldn't really speak English very well, but when Klaus opened his mouth to sing, all language barriers dropped away. One of the finest voices in all of rock music!
The Scorpions are from Germany. They are a rock band. You are listening to one of their many ballads, soft rock songs but they can rock out and rock hard as well.
What a lovely blast from the past! I was listening to The Scorpions in high school & I graduated university 35 years ago. Love this song and them. Lead has an incredible voice!

You might like another Scorpions song “Winds of Change” which I understand was written after the band had been to the USSR and it was apparent that the government of the Soviet Union might fall, which it did in December. 1991.

Rudolf Schenker is one of the guitarist for the Scorpions and had been there from the beginning. His younger brother Michael Schenker was also with the band when they made their first album (he was 16yo). Then he left and joined UFO (Rock Bottom, Doctor Doctor, Lights Out in London). The brother Michael Schenker was Randy Rhoads (Ozzy’s guitarist) favorite guitar player and he was the reason Randy played the V guitar.
Love this song and this band! Such a powerful voice and such a big part of the 80's! I would love you to listen to my favorite song by them, "No one like you"--One of my all time favorite songs, you won't be disappointed!! 😊

The term Power Ballad has been around since the 80's. My generation, Generation X, came up with it. The 80's rock bands were the first to make those kinds of songs.

I went to see The Scorpions on Tour in Dortmund a few weeks ago and eventhough Klaus is 75 now I was surprised at the quality of his signing at his age. He might not hit those super high notes anymore, but man a 3 hour concert at his age was more than impressive - loved every minute of it!

Klause was a guy with a very big beautiful voice. I saw them live several times and there was never any disappointment.

Music like this in the day wasn’t so much the lyrics sometimes it was the sound. This was an awesome song and all about the sound. Most great Rock bands had amazing “power ballads” that left the audience memorized. I am 52, trust me 😮.

Those German dudes up there with queen no doubt about that! This song actually has double meaning it’s referring to the Berlin Wall which can only get torn down with love and he also sings about his love for world even with all that messed up political shit that was and is happening. You should have checked out the 6 minute lyric version, you missed out on a 3 minute guitar solo at the end
So cute you think you coined Power Ballad. Hahaha. But to your credit, we 80s kids coined the same way. "Yeah bro that's a love ballad, but that distorted guitar makes it a Power Ballad".
