    Don't let the lack of electric hook up hold you back, stay anywhere and still power your adventures!
    Hey friends! Welcome to our channel and to another of our caravan vlogs! In this video we're testing out The AllPowers R2500 Solar Generator to see how it performs in real world conditions.
    We used the power station for all of our electric needs while away for a weekend and it performed really well. We learnt that running a hair dryer whilst the station was low in juice was not the best idea but this beast of a power station is definitely up to the job of powering your average caravanning needs for a few days!

    Have really enjoyed all of your vlogs so far and have recommended your channel to several people. Please turn into QVC though! In my opinion power banks are pretty useless for a caravan, why not put panels on the roof and a second battery. Half the price and no faffing about?

      Hi David, fair point well made, there are definitely other options for caravans. I actually do think we'll use this in other ways too. Really appreciate your support for the channel and also your feedback 👍

      That's not a like-for-like comparison, Leisure batteries can only provide 12v, the power bank provides 240v and essentially powers the caravan as if it's plugged into the grid
      to get the same while off-grid without a Powerbank, you'd need to use a large inverter such as a Victron Multiplus which alone is ££££’s, you'd then need to spend hundreds on wiring it all in, then there's the fuses, gauges to get really world data, some pretty large batteries that make it usable for any period of time and a ton of solar to replenish the batteries, you’d be looking at 2 to 3 times the cost plus a load of weight using up valuable payload to get the same usability
      If you want 240v and to essentially be able to use the caravan as if it's plugged into the grid for short periods of time, a power bank makes a ton of sense, of course, if you only need 12v then a power bank doesn't make sense

    • @dafarmer21
      @dafarmer21 Месяц назад +1

    We’re out in our caravan this Easter weekend and thinking this is a total waste of time product for a caravan in the uk,not even waterproof solar panels,think we will just run off the leisure battery if we can’t get a electric hook up,great channel by the way 😊

    • @MacSarah
      @MacSarah  Месяц назад +1

      Hey thanks for watching. Yes agree with you about the solar panels not being waterproof, especially in this country 😂 the station itself feels really useful in certain situations and definitely holds a lot of power. Maybe for tent camping or would be a bonus.

      I think is useful, just share the loads between leisure battery and the solar generator battery, Water proof panel situation does suck though for the Uk.
      I had been totally refitting our caravan too all electric, solar but also plug in shore power. Bit confusing too explain typing but will be brilliant. Looking forward to May where should be able too test not finished but fine you know.

    A very comprehensive and insightful review here M & S. I see operational limitations for that kit outdoors, unless you get a longer adapter lead to move the unit into the awning. It's weight and bulk presents a problem for payload too. A roof mounted solar panel is a much better option, although you are limited to 12v without an inverter.
    Loved seeing Dozer chasing those pesky bunnies in his sleep. I commented on my envy of your green and beige shacket recently, Mac. Now you're proper showing off with that grey number you were wearing at the start of the video. 😂 Loved it.
    Those pizzas. Brilliant.
    Enjoyable video yet again. Well done to you both. Love Graham and Pam x❤

    • @MacSarah
      @MacSarah  Месяц назад

      Ah Graham & Pam, you're too kind 🙂 thank you!
      Couldn't agree more about having a longer lead, I believe that's an option. There's no denying that it's heavy and can't travel in the van, so it's a case of in the car
      Awww Dozer loves a good dream, although it's unclear if he caught up with the bunnies (doubt he'd know what to do if he did 😅)
      Now that shacket is my absolute favorite! A total find from TK Maxx from a brand called Mountains and Isles. It's very cosy!!
      Thanks so much for watching and for leaving such a thoughtful comment 😀

      @grahamd9518 Месяц назад

      @MacSarah Thanks for the lovely response to my comment. Would never think to look in TK Maxx for a shacket, but that's too good a recommendation to pass up.
      We have a largish SUV, in which our elderly Vizsla fur baby Xenna takes up the entire boot while towing. That only leaves the back seat and footwells for caravan sundries like chairs, awning, BBQ, food, water etc. We always aim to tow as light as possible with the caravan and usually have approx 15kg of caravan payload to spare before she's overloaded.
      I'm seeing far too many overloaded caravans being towed nowadays, where safety is compromised in search of taking everything including the kitchen sink. I'm determined not to fall into that trap.

    Ah, that makes sense with the IP rating. Great for a camper van or tent, not too sure it would be for us as we have a panel on the roof. Possibly go for extra roof panel, possibly the new flexible panels.

    • @MacSarah
      @MacSarah  Месяц назад

      Yes fair point. I think the benefit of a power station is that it delivers 240v power so you can use anything rather than 12v. That said, we would definitely consider an additional panel on the roof of the van. Yep, tents or campers, even day vans, it would be great.

    Hello Sarah and Mac I thought the black plastic for fridge was good idea 😊 if I was using the power bank I would only plug it in when I want to use 240v it's inefficient to keep it plugged in. I would use it direct from the dc supply when using 12v or use caravan battery.

    Hi Mac and Sarah, another informative video, thanks. Some detractors here might not see the use/need/point of such an item but you are showing campers that if they were to be in the market then your video is showing them how they work, especially as it is very expensive piece of kit. I liked that you both fully tested it (loved Sarah’s face when she realised how much was being used in her hairdryer) 😂 and also that you tested it in typical UK weather⛈️. We wouldn’t get one for our camper van when we get it as it will have solar panels and of course there is the weight issue of carrying it in the van but a great product nonetheless for those who need/require it. Keep up the great work, love seeing you all including Dozer, take care.

    This is one of the best reviews of a power station I have seen, because of the way you did it. We go off grid a lot ourselves but I have a 2000 watt inverter. The tv is 12 volts but the wife’s hair dryer is also a travel one but only about 800 watts. I have just bought a Jackery 500 not to run the van but just to plug van in to charge on board battery when sun is low. If I could afford one I would get the allpowers you have but I would not get the solar panel you had but two 200 watt suitcase panels because you can leave them out in the rain therefore it would charge all the time while there is light.

      Oh yesss we've stayed there in our Motorhome years ago, must have been around 2011. Such a beautiful spot! We faced the beach and Dozer loved just running down the bank onto the sand, although he did eat a crab on the beach! 😂 Would love to go back one day 👍

    I have just received the R1500 and so far can report its a great bit of kit, although yet to use it away from home. We go off-grid in caravan quite a lot and we have found that the real limiting factor for us was the ability to charge our e-bike batteries (400 WHr each). The caravan solar panel is usually enough for basic living in the summer (fridge/heating/cooking etc on gas), but the power pack will certainly complete the loop for us. The car charger can also be used to charge the unit so if you are heading out for a drive thats another way to get power into it.
    I hadn't thought of plugging it directly into the caravan though - tip of the week. Will certainly do that - means we can use the microwave and coffee machine too!

      Hi Simon! Oh that's great to hear, I think it'll work a treat for you! Totally agree that leisure battery and solar panel is fine for the basics, bit for charging things like ebikes etc, bonus! I think we'll also get more use in other situations too. 😀
      Good luck with yours, we'd love to hear how you get on. All the best and thanks for watching 👍

    Have you got a solar panel on the carvan roof?
    Definitely worth investigating in one, we can easily survive off grid as a family of 6 for a long weekend although thst only gives us 12v in the caravan

    • @MacSarah
      @MacSarah  Месяц назад

      Hey, thanks for watching. Yes we have a solar panel on the van, just 100w which is fine for keeping the battery charged. Absolutely, a power station has the benefit of delivering 240v power for any device or appliance. Even useful as a backup I reckon.
      Thanks again, have a great weekend

      Hey there, thanks for watching and leaving us a comment. Firstly, so glad you booked Old Oaks, hope you enjoyed it! We're off there again next week 🙂 Secondly, thanks for asking, it's quite timely actually as we just updated the description to make it clear. We weren't paid at all for the video, we were sent the kit to make a review. All Powers had no input or control over our views, all our own.
      In terms of would we use if on EHU, only if it was metered. I think there could be huge savings if you're on a metered EHU as are starting to pop up now.
      Thanks again for watching and asking the question.
      All the best, Mac & Sarah

    I’ve previously struggled with seeing the value these things add, as they aren’t cheap. However..We’ve recently spent time on a CL with 10Amp hook up. I think this would have helped us a lot.
    My only concerns are a) the cost and b) the size.

    I have a similar bit of kit. Got a Goal Zero Yeti 1500x and I use it on my none electric seasonal pitch. I only plug the caravan into it for a few hours at night whilst we watch TV and other stuff. It uses about 20% to do that. In the day I have it standalone and it powers the bosses tasssimo and the toaster whilst it charges from my 240w solar panels. Tbh I don't want for anymore and to me it's almost the same as being on EHU. It works out great. I tried it your way but the van is always pulling some power from it and drains it in less than a day.
    With your discount code it looks like a good deal and would def buy one if I didn't already have one.
    Also, don't need a hair dryer with a bald head.
