  • My replica Porsche 911 IROC is based on a 1973 911S chassis with a 3.4 litre engine developing 300HP. She is a good replica of what they would have been like when they raced 50 years ago, and is still competitive against much younger and more powerful cars today.
The International Race of Champions (IROC) series founded in 1973 was a unique and prestigious motorsport competition to determine the "champion of champions" by placing competitors in identical race cars, to eliminate any advantage based on equipment.
IROC used purpose-built, identical RSR specification factory built with 3.0 litre engines and officially 316HP, but more likely 325HP.
The 1974 final race at Daytona in 1974 was that this was “highest money per man per mile in the history of automobile racing”.
THE IROC PORSCHES (author: Matt Stone, ISBN: 978-0-7603-6825-1) chronicles the original International Race of Champions 1973-74 season, in which the world's top drivers battled in identical Porsche RSRs to claim the title of world's greatest racing driver.

That START! Fantastic. Edit: We got more than one! Both excellent!
Christ I miss old 911 interiors. Those gauges are beautiful; not the comment you might have wanted, but here we are.

I agree with you. Firstly that little car starts REALLY well. If you check out my other videos you will see that as a reoccurring theme (and please consider subscribing to my channel). Secondly, I love the old simple 356 and 911 interiors, which are simple, purposeful and elegant.

Thank you! The GT2 that you also worked on is currently being reserected/restored and will hopefully be back on the track in the next 18-24 months.

Thank you! Ruapuna is such a cool track; deceptively tricky. Make sure you come out to the SKOPE Classic (date: Fri Jan 31 2025 - Sun Feb 2 2025) where that is one of the cars that I will be racing.

Yes, the brake pad breaking in process was obviously not very good (but the engine does make a wonderful noise). Thank you.

Some really nice driving here too! Fast starts! Is it both lighter and more powerful than the original? My first was a 1983 911 Targa. It had 232hp. But that was a road car.

Thank you. The original IROCs were a 3.0-litre engine with about 315HP and about 900kg, whereas mine is 3.4-litres with about 300HP and 1120kg. My engine is not nearly as highly strung as the original RSR specification so it is very reliable. The big difference in performance will come from tyre technology I suspect.
