Bought my second one today. The first one lasted 4 years with out much maintenance. Would have lasted longer if I didmore maintenance. The first one crapped out at around 4000 hours. Ran it in the Arizona summer heat and worked flawlessly.
Thanks for the video. I just purchased this gennie and tried to start it for the first time. I added oil and plugged in the battery. When I switched on the battery switch....the light was "red", does that mean that I was sold a gennie with the dead battery?
Glad you enjoyed the video. The red light simply means that the power from the battery is "on" and you can use electric start. I turn the switch off when I am not using the genie for a while so it doesn't drain the battery. Hope this helps. Bruno
@biffsbiz, you would run them in parallel so that if you ran 2 x P4500i you would have a 9,000watt output. No they can not be run in series, there would be no benefit
What do you do if the generator starts and everything says it's working but it never actually kicks on to give us power it just runs with a really low idle but never enough to kick on
Have you checked the reset switch next to the LED display. A little little is flashing next to led screen if it has been tripped. I believe(my genie is not here with me) it is a red button you push and hold it the flashing light goes out and you should have power. Your manual will describe this. Otherwise call Cummins support.
NEVER, NEVER, NEVER BUY A CUMMINS GENERATOR. WE HAVE A LARGE $25k UNIT AND ARE CONSTANTLY WAITING ON PARTS. WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR A STARTER FOR OVER 2 MONTHS NOW, AND HAVE HAD SO FAR 3 POWER OUTAGES. UNBELIEVEABLE, AND UNACCEPTABLE FOR ANY COMPANY.
Sorry to hear about your situation. In the RV industry they have been very reliable and parts have been available when needed. Onan by Cummins has been the go to for Generators for years.

Does the battery/master power switch need to be on for the trickle charger?
HI, I do not believe so. Thanks for watching.

`using premium fuel in a generator manufactured for 87 is not good. best to not leave gas in it ore than a month
