That's how I keep finding myself obsessed with more and more of his music. When you actually take a moment and hear the words and the guitar, you're like, "okay, now this one's my favorite."
I wish he'd return to the style and character of his first two albums. I saw him play the "Shallow Grave" album with friends. Truly an incredible performer. However with each succeeding album he seems to move farther and farther away from that unique talent and sound that made me love him. He's turned to a more popular, sensitized style. But I suppose you cant be "raw" forever.
Mesmerising version of Over The Hills. TMOE just takes me to another dimension, lol!... BTW, what's Kristian up to currently? I haven't been following him so much lately. Would love to see him in the UK.
@FabianBajorat I don't think it's worth hit to compare them all. Van Morrison and Tallest Man on Earth are my two favorite artists, and for good reason. The only thing I can say is that they're poets that happen to play the guitar.
Great work! I could really use some tips on video recording on a budget. (recording guitar and vocals just like this) Budget HD Camera choices, mic / sound tips, video editing software, etc... Any advice you have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :)
I agree with you, but you sort of answered you're own 'complaint'. He has stated that he is maturing and refining his music. It is sad that we might not get to see the raw stuff from his first album, but it is just the way it is. I don't think that it is any use to dwell on it.
Would anyone happen to know what they used to make these? I write music very similar to Tallest Man's and have been wanting to shoot videos like these. I have an H4N and a DSLR camera, and have some filmmaking experience, so I figure that should suffice, but I'm just curious.
I do some videos like this. Usually a DSLR and a decent mounted mic, if you're shooting yourself. www.gear4music.com/PA-DJ-and-Lighting/Rode-Stereo-VideoMic-Pro-Stereo-On-Camera-Microphone/SB9?origin=product-ads&gclid=CITk1-WWhcQCFSMOwwodnwMA6w Something like this. And then tidy up the sound in some post production.
he's pretty tolerant with this hipster bullshit considering his music is legend-grade. i blame it on his being foreign and i think he just fucking loves playing music for people.
Yea but I guess I wasnt explicit enough to mention that he's matured into a sucky sound....with shitty lyrics...The Wild Hunt was the last album that was even decent been down hill since....
Sellout. Nothing personal. Lack of sanctity in his metaphors or they are absent completely. Frequency of production and pressure of the market a likely culprit in his choices....
This video is absolutely gorgeous. The sounds, the angles, the lighting, the man. They're all perfect. I'm in awe.
Holy shit, i got goosebumps as soon as he started singin.
I love the acoustics of wherever this was filmed. Talk about natural reverb.
That's how I keep finding myself obsessed with more and more of his music. When you actually take a moment and hear the words and the guitar, you're like, "okay, now this one's my favorite."
one of the best REAL musicians in the world today, if not the best.
Best songwriter in music at this time.

The version of This Wind is painfully brilliant.
Why did everyone give this a thumbs down? If I remember correctly it IS in open C.
I wish he'd return to the style and character of his first two albums. I saw him play the "Shallow Grave" album with friends. Truly an incredible performer. That Moment When He Starts Singing...
If its anything like a lot of his other songs (The gardner, for instance) itll be Open D

does anyone have the chords to this song? ive been trying to figure it out for a very long time with little success
so fuckin cool.
Great video, for fans of acoustic singer/songwriter-folk, have a listen to SION RUSSELL JONES.
Kapo 5
Tuning: EADGBe = CFCGCf

one person accidentally hit the dislike button instead of the like button
Open C
I was kinfa speaking of newer artists young and part of this generation haha. But if Van is fair game. The Best is Bob Dylan. Kills everyone.

Anita Vassar You must not know much about Swedish culture, eh?
