Love this concept that you can’t create more time but you can create more energy

💡💡 Don’t work smarter, rather manage energy smarter.
💡💡 The 1st person I have to lead is ME.

I called this my GENTLE ... PEAK ... VALLEY... WEAK (hours)
Gentle is still groggy so I set my morning routines for during this hour.
Peak hours - I have about 4 hours for longer term projects / high out put involving collaboration energy before any fatigue happens
Valley hours I have about 4 hours of energy winding down, so I schedule, check emails, do short things
Weak hours... critical thinking , planning, decision making is over, but good for research, then planning next day, then unwinding activities for bed.
always thought it was an ADHD issue... but it makes sense it applies to everyone and some of your unpacking of details and techniques were very helpful as a new way of revisiting this. Love the numbering system.

@PolstonTax did Craig Groeschel’s leadership podcast with 15 of our 17 managers in our management meeting this morning! We have been doing one of the leadership podcasts each month and have applied the nuggets gained to grow as leaders. This morning we did the podcast on the Art of Energy Management and gained a great deal of insight on leading nearly 120 employees. This podcast was also the catalyst for discussing the responsibilities that energize us and the responsibilities that drain us. Thank you for these leadership podcasts.

10/10. Thank you. I listen to your podcasts while doing mindless tasks, and they often help me tweak even the task I'm doing at that specific time. Great content.

This may be the best podcast episode I listened to this past year, or at least certainly one of the most impactful.
At a time when I was getting really frustrated about how I managed my time and work, I stumbled upon this.
And it made a huge impact. Because I began looking at the different tasks and duties of the week, in terms of the energy or focus required, and designing my week to support that i.e. time for noise reduced isolation for creative focus; high availability times for team interaction; using times when I'm fresh for the toughest work; and very important but easily overlooked, pre-scheduling quality time with family.
Thanks much Craig and the Leadership Podcast Team:)!

Outside of work, I am carrying for and elderly parent.what was supposed to be 6-8 weeks turned into 2 years. Of course, she does not act to me like she would anyone else. She will not allow any other help but me. This is very draining and frustrating. Any suggestions?

All of this sounds very helpful and wise. I look forward to doing an Energy Audit. BUT...question: the goals outlined here imply a lot of being able to control your day and schedule. What if much of your job is about responding? If you are frequently interrupted from tasks that have been started, and you're expected to juggle many balls at the same time? It seems that it would be much harder to adhere to your energy peaks...? Curious about others' experiences... Thanks!

Team meetings drain me a lot. Such as keep on talking and not concise, digression and not keeping to time. I am not a leader so cannot manage and it's out of control. 😬

Sorry, but I am exhausted just listening the details of self management! I know this is done toward the purpose of serving God efficiently....but sounds and feels totally self absorbed. I'll have to exit and regroup or re-energize just to finish it, before even thinking about the next one, different kinds of energy.
