The right question is not if the spinoffs are important, it's if the spinoffs are entertaining enough to be viewed/read/played, the answer is a resounding YES.
If you don't mind a subpar adaptation and overall not as good quality for animation Do F/S night then ubw then heaven's feel movies and then Fate/Zero. If bad animation bothers u skip fate/Stay night and proceed. Other alternative watch order is to watch fate/zero then ubw, heaven's feel
Point being don't worry abt the watch order too much. I recommend to start with ubw or zero mainly zero bcs it's my favorite and has great characters. Either way you will get spoiled for the other in some ways and watching the other first will give you different perspective than wathcing the other first. The main reason for suggesting zero first is because things can be a little confusing jumping straight into UBW (because the show expects you to have seen the first route of the show to some extent) and Zero gives you that necessary info
For anyone that’s doesn’t understand gigguks video is a joke where he tries to make everything sound way more confusing then it actually is, a watch order video could be 10 seconds long
There is the only correct order : Fate Stay night 2006 by Deen , yes its not as qualitative as Ufotable work but its a good introduction to a lot of mechanism of Fate Fate Stay Night Unlimited Works by Ufo Fate Heaven's feel by Ufo Fate Zero , yes a lot of things is "spoiled" in Fate Stay night but its calculated , Zero is a prequel, like the Luffy flashback after Marineford , you already know a lot of thing but its okay, you dont watch this flashback before beginning One Piece no ? After that, you're free to see anything in any order (except FGO works who has an order too but its pretty simple) And even if its other timeline, everything is canon and important so dont underestimate, like if you love god sound effect, you want to give a try to Fate/Apocrypha by A1
Just to get a few things clear The order according to release date goes as follows; Fate/Stay Night (2006) Fate/Zero Fate/UBW Heavens Feel (3 Movies) . Most people don't watch the 2006 anime cause it messes up plot but I thought it was ok(it adapts the 1st route from VN) . Fate/Zero is prequel that was made by a separate author to serve as a back story for Fate/Stay Night . UBW had a Movie made long ago but the Series does a much better job(this is the 2nd Route) . This is the main timeline, other series like Extra, Apocrypha etc etc etc are a different continuity . Hope this wasn't too overwhelming, start with either Fate/Zero or 2006 Anime is ok(many people entirely skip the 2006 tho unfortunately)
Addendum on UBW, the movie was done by Studio Deen, the UBW series was done by UFOtable. It is agreed that the UBW series is better than the UBW movie.
Some terminologies in Fate Noble Phantasm - Its there Ultimate/Special and its he weapons or abilities that a Heroic Spirit possesses. Example: Saber King Arthur Noble Phantasm is EXCALIBUR ( Because Excalibur is the mythical sword of King Arthur that may be attributed with magical powers or associated with the rightful sovereignty of Britain.) Gender in Fate Servants.. FGO Likes to Genderbend Servants like King Arthur who became a Woman Saber of Red vs Red Saber ☼ Saber of Red = Mordred (We'll I think its not a spoiler anymore because you've watch this vid = She is King Arthur Son) ☼ Red Saber = is Nero Claudius (was Roman emperor and the final emperor of the Julio-Claudian dynasty, reigning from AD 54 until his death in AD 68) In this vid, when they mentioned (The Blond Girl Chick) They look the same but different Characters... its True Some of the images shown in this vid with the Blonde Girl Chick are King Arthur, Okita Souji, Mysterious Heroine X, Mordred, Nero etc... that's because in FGO they are many Servants and its so confusing at first. here are some numbers Main Classes 50 Sabers Servants 47 Archer Servants 46 Lancer Servants 43 Rider Servants 48 Caster Servants 44 Assassin Servants 41 Berserker Servants Extra Classes 16 Ruler Servants 14 Avenger Servants 5 Moon Cancer Servants 15 Alter Ego Servants 13 Foreigner Servants 6 Pretender Servants 6 Beast Servants (But 5 of them are NPC Bosses and the other 1 is Playable Servant) in Total 394 Current Servants in the Game (JP Version) because in English/NA Version they are 2 years behind JP) is There a difference between FGO and Fate Stay night/Fate Zero/Unlimited Bladeworks/ all Fate Franchise? = FGO is Different between those Show, but All Servants in the Fate Series are all in FGO and Summonable in the Game if you are going to watch all of the Noble Phantasm, some videos have the Names of the Servants and classes on the title video :) I saw some reactors reacting to it but they didn't know the name of the servants because they didn't read the title
The watch order is easily the most frustrating thing about the fanbase honestly start where you want to start Fate zero and Fate UBW are both good starting off points
@@lop90ful1 perfect example no one can be happy watch what you feel like I have seen SOOO many people not watch fate because of all the damn arguing on what to start with its mad fucking annoying
@adam-dn3hi Soo many people start with Zero I started with Zero and I watched every route the deen stay night and ubw deen movie played fgo read the vn watching Zero first didn't ruin my experience at all, at most the Sakura suprise was but it just had me super excited for heavens feel. And I still feel to this day that the end of Zero is one of the best moments in the franchise and witnessing it first time without knowing its about to happen is a experience you can't get otherwise
3:00 fun thing about that logic, about each series spoiling each other is, if you watch it without knowing anything about them, you won't get spoiled. The spoiler they probably talk about is when everything clicks while you're watching, which for me, feels great, I don't know why people gets frustrated at that.
it sounds complex but once you are in its SO amazing..amazing lore ,epic fights ,unforgettable characters and if you want more...you know there is ALWAYS more xD its basically endless amount of content and also if you love myths (like i do) its even more hype..also i will join others and say that you need to see long version its a little bit less meme like
Honestly, reading your guys' comments is really making me realize how unique Fate is. I can tell it has so much more emphasis on storytelling and building chatacters compared to just having amazing fighting scenes. I'll definitely check out the long explanation video so stay tuned!
@@CrypticBossyeah I just watched the a playthrough of the Gacha game fate Grand Order becaus ethe story is Epic. The best story among all Mobile games especially among all Gacha games. Its so good that the mobile game got an anime adaptation and a movie series.
Fate/stay night unlimited blade works Fate/stay night heaven's feel (3 movies) you can also watch fate/stay night (2006) first before these two, its important but its just not very well adapted. After these watch whatever you want. There are a lot of spinoffs - Fate/zero, Lord el melloi case files, Fate/Apocrypha, Fate/Extra last encore, Fate/ kaleid Liner Prisma Illya, Fate/Strange Fake, Fate/grand order, Today's menu for Emiya family, Carnival Phantasm, Fate/ Grand carnival. you willl also require fate/grand order watch order. Fate/grand order watch order: Fgo: First order Fgo: camelot (2 movies) Fgo: Babylonia FGO: solomon Fgo: moonlight lostroom
The lore is complicated in the Fate Series considering it has it's own universe called the Nasuverse and everything in the verse is canon, I mean everything is canon including different timelines
Gigguks vid is more for satire but as a Fate fan I'd say the best watch order for the main series is Fate stay night Ubw Heavens feel Zero Apocrypha, Fgo, Case Files, and Strange Fake, can be watched in whatever order as they're stand alone titles Carnival phantasm can also be watched whenever as it's a huge meme, but it's funnier with context of the franchise as a whole. Don't watch Fate Extra Last Encore since anyone without knowledge of the game would be extremely lost as it isn't for newcomers. Kara no Kyoukai/Tsukihime aren't necessary to understand Fate but at the same time are very necessary in some ways lol. Very gas highly recommend both series. To expand on my main line watch order reasoning. The og Fate Stay Night was a visual novel with three branching paths and I'd personally always recommend learning about the first route before Zero to gain a better understanding of the world and series. Ubw goes farther into the characters especially Shirou, Rin, and Archer, and HF is the culmination of all three routes. A lot of Zero fans say it should be watched first as it's the prequel but it's something that was made after the og vn so it's not as necessary as they make it sound, certain scenes and moments actually hit harder with understanding of the og VN imo. It also butchers Saber as a character by over exaggerating her innocence and chivalry to the point shes almost unrecognizably dumb throughout the runtime, and gives newcomers the wrong idea about the King of Knights and her ambition. So mainly because of that last point I can't bring myself to recommend it first despite it being a pretty solid prequel in other areas.
Everyone will tell you to check out the long version. You can if you want but keep in mind its not that good for real beginners who haven't seen Fate at all.
this is just ment to be a joke on how it is convoluted fate can be but once you start you can understand it's not that complicated, he just played it up complicated parts to make it entertaining EDIT: also I have commented the comprehensive watch order on your top 10 fate fights video if you want i can mention it here too
I think that if you want to watch Fate, then turn on what interests you in terms of genre. If you like the world, pieces of lore or characters so much that you want more, you can always come back. Books, games and anime based on Fate will not disappear anywhere. Just stop worrying about viewing it correctly.
@@CrypticBoss I forgot to add a comment about the reaction to Fate Grand Order. If you want to watch Noble Phantasms from the game, don't get confused. There is a mobile game Fate Grand Order and an arcade game Fate Grand Order Arcade. They differ in gameplay, character models and Noble Phantasms animation. Sorry if I have a lot of mistakes. I don't know English well and use a translator.
" That's Hell you're walking into " Bruh, I love that you're in it for the Lore but duuuuuuuude.......ARE YOU SURE ABOUT JUMPING DOWN THIS RABBIT HOLE???
IMO the only thing you really miss out on if you start at the Unlimited Blade Works series is the deeper understanding of Shirou and Saber's personalities and motivations. In particular Shirou kind of comes across as a lot more shallow if you're lacking that context. But other than that, it's probably the best place to start for someone interested in dipping their toes in the Fate series. (Obviously the VN is the actual best place to start, but it is a massive time investment, and not really great reaction fodder). Deen Stay Night isn't as bad as people make out, the problem is more that a) the animation has aged poorly and b) it's not a good adaptation of the Fate route specifically. It's a decent jumping on point if and only if you're already committed to watching through the whole mainline story - for new fans who just have a casual interest, the advice is usually to start with either UBW or Zero because they're much more watchable, and better adaptations. Zero isn't a bad starting point either, although aside from it spoiling a major part of Heaven's Feel, the main thing you miss out on if you start with Zero is the foreknowledge of how it will end. Being a prequel (ish), it's set up as a tragedy - we as the audience know the bad ends that are in store for various characters, and the dramatic tension is built around seeing how they end up there. But without that context (which the show doesn't provide), it can easily be read as a standard shounen/seinen battle royale series, which can make the ending feel kind of unsatisfying.
Sometimes I think back to how most likely if ufotable simply did re adapt the fate route first before doing the prequal fate zero and other two routes ubw and heaven's feel there wouldn't have been any divide at all in the fandom of debating whether it's better start watching with fate zero vs starting with unlimited bladeworks and instead everyone would just have agreed start watching fate with with fate there's a reason the first route of the visual novel is called fate route lol its the ideal starting point.
Thats quite true, but then that also mean whenever they make UBW it Will feel like a repeat for the most part and make it boring. The thing is 1 out of 3 need to be sacrificed and since HF Is way too different than the other two, HF Is safe, leaving with them either purge Fate route or UBW and they choose UBW. Just think about it, if right now they decide to re adapt fate route, do you think people gonna watch it? So i kinda understand what they did (also the only thing Fate route has Is saber past memory which zero already capture anyway, so UBW Is safest bet)
@@abdulzaelani9954 Yeah first couple episode of UBW would likely feel repetitive and boring for some people though ufotable could just skip over the prologue and start UBW from the divergence point of shirou stopping saber from taking out archer early on. I've seen a lot of people wanting fate route adaptation by ufotable even until now some even hoping it will happen next year since it's the 20th anniversary of the visual novel. Most saber fans aren't satisfied with how she is portrayed in fate zero and want people to get the full deep dive into her character that is only present in fate route since in the other routes while still somewhat important she is pretty overshadowed by other characters.
Ironically Despite Prisma ilya being called Lesbian loli kissing the anime. The movie Oath under snow is my second favorite movie on fate series. Personally It's has one of the best Shirou that is not even the MC of that series.
Yes! 100% agree. Oath Under Snow had no right to be as amazing as it was. My expectations for it were very low given the series'... issues... but it ended up being probably my favourite piece of Fate media. And definitely the best depiction of Shirou.
As a fan who has been following series for years now let me tell you - new fans should start by watching 2006 version, it is not as bad as people label it (Gigguk probably never watched it either) and it serves as a good introduction. UBW, FZ and HF have been written well but with the assumption you already watched Fate and you know the basics of the universe and some of the characters.
If you're not afraid or just don't care about spoilers to HF (Heavens feel) movies and like things in chronological (storywise) order - watch Zero first without a doubt. My personal order of watching was: F/Z --- Unlimited Blade works (Ufotable) --- Heaven's feel movies But you know what? Watch this however the hell you want.
hey! just to be clear, even im quite confused lol, but honestly watching fate doesnt need a watch order except for the fate grand order series as it actually have one. but obviously there is a starting point, that being either fate/zero as everybody say or the 2014 ufotable TV adaptation of fate/stay night ubw and honestly i agree fate/zero is boring most of the time 💀even now i still havent finish it at all, so take that as you will, the fate/stay night ubw i mention above is definitely the way as it had a great pacing and fight altogether, after watching the starting anime for fate by then you could watch any of the fate series honestly as like half of the series isnt correlated/just simply a new one, or you didnt even need to finish it, but as long as you understand the concept of the whole thing it will all make sense. all of the watch order are only if you want to optimize your knowledge about literally everything in the series which is yk good? but very bothersome, might as well just read a novel by then 💀💀💀
Fate is just Japanese Marvel/DC, you are correct, it's just a multiverse. You don't need to go through everything to get into it, like no one really gets into MCU as much as Disney wants us to believe there are people like that. So using the MCU analogy, Fate Stay Night UBW would be the equivalent of like Iron Man movies Fate Zero would be like Captain America, since he is the first Avenger and the prequel Fate Extra would be like Guardians of the Galaxy Fate Apocrypha would be like Sony Spiderman that only sort of crossovers to the MCU but not really. The argument can be made that it is more like Thor in some respects. Fate Grand Order would be like Avengers Endgame
The first time I saw fate zero, I also got bored and discarded it, on the third try months later I continued watching it after the first episode and it was worth every damn second, masterpiece and it's worth starting with zero, Fate Zero is one of the best animes that exist. friend begins with "fate zero", then ""fate stay night ubw" (2014--2015) or "fate stay night" (2006), and at the end with ""fate stay night heavans feel" (3 movies).
If you think that the Fate version of Mordred's conception is fucked up, you'll be surprised about the real thing. Because gender swapping aside, that did happen in the actual arthurian legend too... except the woman who forced herself on him (while he was unconscious due to being drugged by the way) being his sister.
@@tipoima Wait... so did Arturia marry her own sister, or did Gigguk make a mistake? Because in this video he clearly said that Saber was forced upon by her wife.
@@Norbert_Sattler Gigguk made a mistake. The lore goes that Artoria and Guiniviere were gonna make a child, but Morgan went in with drugs and/or shapeshifting magic. Also sex is only implied, not stated outright for deniability.
Why is make mutiple Timeline and Universe well to me is indeed important, i want see every Servants base on our Historys and Fiction or Greek mothology all over the World to become the Character like Saber (King Arthur), or Archer (Napoleon), Berserker(Thor) or the Rider(Medusa), and (Ruller)Zeus ,there many MORE so yeah.
Okay im gonna be the one and say gigguk did this video and the 30 min one mostly for fun and if you want easier to understand just watch OtakuDaiKun Simple guide to fate part 1 and you will know everything you need to know and where you want to start btw part 2 is lore so you rather watch it after anime
If you found Fate/Zero boring, just watch Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Bladeworks. Fate/Zero was not created by Nasu (creator of the visual novel Fate/Stay Night, known as the first ever Fate material). Rather, it was created as a LIGHT novel by Gen Urobuchi, known for his depressive and gloomy works like Psycho-Pass and Madoka Magica. That's why it might be boring for someone who prefers watching anime fights over philosophical and dark themes in an anime. Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Bladeworks is a perfect place for those who prefer fights with good animation. In my opinion, Fate/Zero is much better then Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Bladeworks and the Heaven's Feel movie triology, I love the aesthetics of all Gen Urobuchi's works and he comprehends pretty well the human mind and the dark side of society, but I know not everyone prefer something like that. So my recommendation for you is to watch Unlimited Bladeworks first. After then, you will watch Fate/Zero and then all the Heaven's Feel movies. After that, you can stop there or watch spin offs like Fate/Apocrypha, Fate/EXTRA Last Encore and Fate/Grand Order.
Urobuchi has actually improved as a writer. Dialed down the cynicism and overall edge. Found a balance in more optimistic stories. And yet his chapter in FGO is considered the "least good" of Part 2. That should give you an idea on the quality of the other Lostbelts. The best one (LB6) is by Nasu of course.
@@nelisezpasce Yeah, but I really liked that aspect of Gen Urobuchi's works, Madoka Magica is my third favorite anime, Psycho-Pass and Fate/Zero are in my top 10, i'm a big fan of his series, actually. Even though he changed his writing for the better or for the worse, I won't forget about his older projects, even if they are more edgu and gloomy.
Bit of a long comment incoming. Honestly I’d say start with either Fate/ Stay Night (2006) or Fate/Zero. The 2006 show does give you a pretty good idea of what this franchise is about. That’s the one I started with and it worked well enough for me as a starting point. The only potential problem is that...well, many would say that it’s just not a very good show overall and I’m inclined to agree. Though it does have some fans, so who knows, maybe you’d enjoy it. The prequel, Fate/Zero, meanwhile is very good, and it’s widely beloved by the fandom as well as the wider anime community. Being a prequel, you can easily follow the story without watching the original series. The only potential drawback is that I don’t think it eases newcomers into the world of Fate quite as well F/SN ‘06, introducing many important elements through a whole lot of exposition dumping towards the beginning. Also, keep in mind, I haven’t seen the Heaven’s Feel films yet, so I’m not sure how exactly Zero “spoils” them, as Gigguk said. I guess take that into consideration lol. Hope that helps somewhat 😁
I actually did watch that as well as many other FGO animations! Here's the video where you can find all of them: ruclips.net/video/IKC4TKBGvuY/видео.htmlsi=3pANJtPPZKE_e9e-
Actually the community has basically agreed that you should just go for Fate Zero OR Fate Unlimited Blade Works and if you liked anything in one you can check the other one too. That's it. All the other ones are standalone and you can watch them in any order. After those two it becomes a free for all. Like... that's allllllllll. It became a joke by the community (...at least I hope), because there are so many things in the Fate franchise that it's almost impossible to explain everything, and those who try sound like crack addicts.
I would not watch the UBW film simply because it condenses far too much into too small a time frame. this is why heaven's Feel took 3 films to get through.
My suggestion is just start with Fate Zero and then go Fate Stay Night UBW & HF movies. These are all related and made by UFO table, at least the anime qualities are S tier. The others you can probably just ignore or try out later if you really love the concept and world building, but they are all pretty much step down in my opinion.
Fate/zero, fate UBW and heavens feel movies to taste and then what ever fate you want. Fate zero ep0 is 40min while other episodes are 24min. Ep 0 serves to give context. You'll find fate is pretty dark and adult...
A YT clip of the Lesbian Lolis Kissing is actually the only thing I’ve seen of Fate (besides Astolfo “images”), and I find that more interesting than anything else I’ve seen… 😅
If you want information go with fate zero, want cool animation go with UBW. Just know that I've seen a lot of people go "who is she? What is happening? Why is this happening? Why should they do this and that? Wait he's saber? I thought saber was that blonde woman? Why is it so important?" So many times. Though because you're familiar with gacha games maybe half of those question would be self explanatory to you
Gigguk just make funny videos, don't take what he said to heart, just go Zero -> UBW -> Heaven's Feel -> whatever else you want to watch. If you can't stand Zero's dialogues heavy, than you can start with UBW if you want, doesn't change the experience much I think.
Also, Fate Grand Order is a terrible game but the story is absolutely amazing. It takes a long time for the story to picks up tho, so I recommend just watch the Fate GO movies/series and hope they adapt later arcs.
False. Prisma Ilya -> Food Spinoff -> Carnival Phantasm -> Prisma Ilya (Rewatch) -> the doujins -> fate/apocrypha -> whatever else you want to watch. If you can't stand Prisma Ilya's superior dialogue, than you can start with the food spinoff if you want, doesn't change the experience much I cook.
Gigguk's video are more meant for laughs rather than being informative, if you want the watch order it's generally accepted to just be: 1. Fate/zero 2. Fate/stay night Unlimited Blades Works 3. Fate/stay night Heavens Feel 4. Whatever else you want And to answer your question, the reason why saber is referred to as a king and her daughter is referred to as her son is because only males are generally accepted to be the rulers of a country at that point in time, so saber has to pretend to be a man to become a ruler and mordred chose to be referred to as a son to be elligible as a successor to the throne.
@@CrypticBoss She only had one for an unknown period of time, it's not permanent. Basically to create a successor with queen guinevere who saber had to marry for political reasons merlin turned saber into a pseudo-male for a period of time so they can have a kid together. So no, other than that period of time saber does not actually have a johnson and only pretended to be a male.
Do not start with zero as it just spoils so much from the main line. Rather start with ubw or the original from 2006 and its not shit it just didn have the budget like the new ones.
Before watching this bro you have to rewatch the main Fate Animes, because you are so confused with saber identity and many other things more that you should. this video make the series look so hard to understand. Also, the series like to make the main girls look like each other but you can tell the difference between them from their design and personality.
Just start with Unlimited Blade Work dude: - it's explain the universe - have good animation - it have a pretty light theme Then watch Fate Zero and after all of that, it's heaven's feel But be aware, you may want to rewatch one of these 3 series when you have better understanding. Next entry I recommend is Fate Apocrypha Maybe fate grand order the animation : - fate grand order 1st order - fate grand order Camelot - fate grand order Babylonia The ones I don't recommend are : - fate extra (full of BS and crappy adaptation) - fate Prisma Cosmos Iliya (FBI open up)
Fate zero Fate stay night unlimited blade works Fate stay night heaven's feel movie 1 and 2 and 3 Fate apocrypha Fate grand order first order Fate grand order Camelot 1 and 2 Fate grand order Babylonia Fate grand order Solomon Fate extra last encore Fate strange fake ( for now it's just 1 movie ) This is the only way to watch it 🤠 And if you want you can watch these too Fate prototype Fate garden of sinners Fate ........ I don't remember this one 😂
TBH this is just a parody and doesn't really help. Everyone has their own opinion and will fight on what to watch so it's hard to agree but let me try and help. Want Edgy anime with great animation? Start with Fate/Zero Want good plot with PEAK animation (not edgy much)? start with UBW After watching both Fate/Zero and UBW in any order watch the movies of Heaven's Feel (all of them are out by now) then watch whatever the heck you want.
I'm ngl this specifi wasn't even recommended to me from you guys. It was actually RUclips that put it in my recommendation section and since I already like Gigguk, I thought it'd be a fun watch! (also I'm sure youtube would recommend this Gigguk video to anyone who has searched up fate like myself. It's just the algorithm. Not to mention, it has almost 5 million views)
@@CrypticBoss I know, at first when I first got into the fate series, RUclips always offered me instructions even though I knew there were a lot of movies in it, but I just slowly followed the crowd and once I had a general understanding of it, I loved it. this series. This is not gigguk's fault for introducing and making too many jokes that make viewers take it too seriously because he wants to introduce in detail so they can understand better because filmmakers often don't explain in detail. Revealing everything clearly gives viewers quite a headache.
You are the exact audience for that gigguk video lmao, but yeah its honestly not that complicated if you just want to enjoy it, but if the first 20 minutes of fate zero already make you feel bored then the rest wont help (like for real, zero is like the better entry level, the other is also alot of talking) Just one thing tho, dont watch the studio deen one, its suck, stick with the ufotable one
Nah I'll definitely give it another try. I remember when I checked out jojo many years ago and hated it. Now I absolutely love it. So who knows I might get into fate now. In fact I might even record episodic reactions to it if you guys are interested!
@@CrypticBoss Fate UBW definitely does a better job than zero in terms of pacing although zero will also get better after the second half of the series. IMO you can watch zero or UBW to start but only watch heavens feel after UBW. just keep in mind that UBW will spoil zero but zero will spoil heavens feel. a lot of people argue about where to start because zero is a prequel of stay night visual novel and is released after stay night but ufotable release UBW anime adaptation after zero and make UBW feel like a continuation of zero when you watch it lol.
@@CrypticBoss Nice, cant wait for that. One charm of the fate franchise Is that because they use historical / Legendary figure, they can skip the introduction for each character and only show the important part. Its still kinda Double edge sword since that mean if you don't know the character beforehand, you might not care about them at all in fate, but fate like to add some of their own twist on it (can be quite whacky one, like the whole "king" Arthur being female Is just their way to make her story more tragic since people wont aknowledge her as king since she is female and whatnot)
if you want to watch fate series like me who doesn't care anything as long as its kinda/all connected to the story in anime series then its safe bet to watch this in order. series: fate apocrypha fate zero fate zero 2nd season FATE/STAY NIGHT: UNLIMITED BLADE WORKS (TV) FATE/STAY NIGHT: UNLIMITED BLADE WORKS (TV) 2nd season Lord El-Melloi II's Case Files: Rail Zeppelin Grace Note other than this are either spinoff, different series, different routes(plot)
If you want the best experience it’s Zero, UBW, the strange fake Then after that you can watch anything else since apart from the Original UBW and Heavens Feel every thing else has for the most part different servants and characters
I just say start with Fate/Zero because watching Unlimited Blade Works would completely spoil who won and who died in Zero. Definitely watch Heaven's Fell AFTER Unlimited Blade Works. The rest are optional because they are not connected to the original story at all, but I would recommend Fate/Apocrypha and Fate/Grand Order(starting with the "First Order" film). Anyone else may have their own opinions, but I am just giving my two cents.
IMO Zero is much better if you go into it knowing what Fate/Stay Night tells you about how it ends. As a prequel it's meant to be a tragedy with the dramatic tension built around knowing who lives and dies but wanting to see how it happens. The outcome is meant to be a foregone conclusion. Whereas in Heaven's Feel, finding out about [SPOILER]'s situation is meant to be a series of shocking reveals, and Zero lays all of them out in detail in the first episode.
Start with Unlimited Blade Works -> Heaven's Feel -> Zero. Zero completely spoils Heaven's Feel and it's meant to be watched knowing the fate of the characters in Zero.
Watch fate zero first as a new anime only. Honestly don’t even worry about it, that’s probably the most coherent way if you don’t wanna go read the visual novel for fate/stay night
Start with Fate/Zero or Fate Stay Night UBW (the TV series one, not the movie), then finish the other one, and finally Fate Stay Night Heaven Feel. After that, watch any of the Fate anime series u want. Some honorable mention is Fate Apocrypha, FGO: The First Order => 2 movie FGO: Camelot => FGO: Babylonia => FGO: Solomon, Fate Stranger Fate, etc.
the real start is READ THE VISUAL NOVEL. that's how I truly became a Fate fan. But IT IS a lot of reading so if it discourages you, then watching anime is fine the start point of anime is confusing because of the nature of anime adaptation. the Fate Stay Night Visual Novel is basically the complete package, then they make the Fate Zero novel as a "filler" to the FSN backstory but because adaptation in becoming anime is a mumble jumble it's becoming weird to choose a good point to start If you want to watch anime only, then yes watch Zero first then unlimited blade works is kinda better start Are these other works important? well I ask you is Spiderman important? Is Hulk not important? is Thor important? they are not directly connected to main original story because they are almost completely different stories but still in the same multiverse FGO is basically the Avengers version of Fate (kinda)
Just start with Fate Apocrypha, it's more easier to understand, although it's non canon but it caters to a more action oriented casual audience who wants to start with the Fate universe. The anime adaptations ofFate Grand Order is also a great starting point. Yes, Fate is a complete clusterf*ck ngl. Hopefully, I didn't confuse even more The reason why I recommend you start witheitherApocrypha or Grand Order, it's because of it's low barrier to entry to the lore of Fate as a whole. And it's perfectly normal that you couldn't sit through Fate Zero's pilot episode because Zero is not only the prequel of the main story which Fate Stay Night, but this is a more mature series delving deep into very heavy themes of morality, personal ambitions, politics and human nature. Since this is originally a visual novel with multiple routes or endings, it's understandable how confusing for newcomers to dive into the franchise. Heaven's Feel is an alternate route , that you can jump into once you finish Zero., as with unlimited Blade works . You can safely watch the ufotable anime adaptations in release/broadcast order. The 2006 Studio Deen adaptation is optional unless if you're a big Saber fanand for its iconic OST (IMO the only good thing in this adaptation), the Unlimited blade works movie must be avoided at all costs if you value your time and sanity. It's not that complicated, if you just stick with either the main canon of Fate Stay Night or start with Apocrypha and/or Grand Order.
Just start with Fate Zero. Trust me. It stands out of all of them, and its as good as it gets. Nothing you can do to avoid few spoilers here and there anyway. Oh, and if you want another quality good Nasuverse anime - check out Kara no Kyoukai, it is UFOTABLE too, and its 10/10 in almost every aspect.
3:29 ok lemme help you Zero is the prequel made after the original VN stay night VN have multiple routes(3 different ways the story can go) Zero was made to be read/watched after all 3 routes in the og VN As it assumes you already know a big part of the lore and the plot twists and plot points of stay night Watching it first will ruin ALOT of stay night And it spoils the most out of the third route heavens feel Yet ufotable decided to adapt zero before stay night(for some reason) and adapted the second and third route of stay night after it(the first route of stay night was already adapted by studio deen in 2006) Realisticly the best way to experience fate would be to read the og VN first As for the anime The 2006 adaptation UBW And heavens feel And than zero As for fate spinoffs the order doesnt matter too much
7:25 ok here is a thing Fate does not censor what happens in the legends of heroes I repeat It will NOT censor any fucked up details regardless of how dark they are
Ok lemme make this clear The order is easy Stay night 2006(first route) Stay night unlimited blade works(second route) Stay night heavens feel(third route) Than anything else
So this clearly helped (not) 😂
twitch.tv/CrypticBoss
You know, gigguk also explained the 'long' version, and that is actually more helpful for a new fan. I suggest you to give it a look
You should check the Gigguk long version instead, Ironically enough the long version is more digestible than the short version
Definitely will! Stay tuned
The long version was made to actually explain stuff, while this "short version" is just making fun of things. ^^
@@Norbert_Sattler Yup and that why long version is better
Yeah just watch Gigguk’s explaining the fate timeline in 30 minutes
still waiting for vid to drop bro@@CrypticBoss
For anyone that’s doesn’t understand gigguks video is a joke where he tries to make everything sound way more confusing then it actually is, a watch order video could be 10 seconds long
Yeah I can totally understand that. It was a skit after all
@@CrypticBoss some people don’t seem to understand that and end up thinking fate is very complicated when like 90% of the video can be ignored
@@CrypticBossu can start by fate stay night unlimited blade works or fate zero
Gigguk's long version(the 30 minute video) does give a watch order which most of the fan base agrees upon
Ooo now I'm even more curious to see what he recommends
Gigguk maked a mistake mordred was not forced upon saber's wife.
It was with her sister
Double uploads in 2 hours?? This is the best Sunday. Your reaction to this made me laugh a lot 🤣 Fate is really something
It's actually not that complicated to understand, its just Gigguk joking around
There is the only correct order :
Fate Stay night 2006 by Deen , yes its not as qualitative as Ufotable work but its a good introduction to a lot of mechanism of Fate
Fate Stay Night Unlimited Works by Ufo
Fate Heaven's feel by Ufo
Fate Zero , yes a lot of things is "spoiled" in Fate Stay night but its calculated , Zero is a prequel, like the Luffy flashback after Marineford , you already know a lot of thing but its okay, you dont watch this flashback before beginning One Piece no ?
After that, you're free to see anything in any order (except FGO works who has an order too but its pretty simple)
And even if its other timeline, everything is canon and important so dont underestimate, like if you love god sound effect, you want to give a try to Fate/Apocrypha by A1
Looking forward to your reaction to the long version 😂
Stay tuned 😭
Just to get a few things clear
The order according to release date goes as follows;
Fate/Stay Night (2006)
Fate/Zero
Fate/UBW
Heavens Feel (3 Movies)
.
Most people don't watch the 2006 anime cause it messes up plot but I thought it was ok(it adapts the 1st route from VN)
.
Fate/Zero is prequel that was made by a separate author to serve as a back story for Fate/Stay Night
.
UBW had a Movie made long ago but the Series does a much better job(this is the 2nd Route)
.
This is the main timeline, other series like Extra, Apocrypha etc etc etc are a different continuity
.
Some terminologies in Fate
Noble Phantasm - Its there Ultimate/Special and its he weapons or abilities that a Heroic Spirit possesses. Example: Saber King Arthur Noble Phantasm is EXCALIBUR ( Because Excalibur is the mythical sword of King Arthur that may be attributed with magical powers or associated with the rightful sovereignty of Britain.)
Gender in Fate Servants.. FGO Likes to Genderbend Servants like King Arthur who became a Woman
Saber of Red vs Red Saber
☼ Saber of Red = Mordred (We'll I think its not a spoiler anymore because you've watch this vid = She is King Arthur Son)
☼ Red Saber = is Nero Claudius (was Roman emperor and the final emperor of the Julio-Claudian dynasty, reigning from AD 54 until his death in AD 68)
In this vid, when they mentioned (The Blond Girl Chick) They look the same but different Characters... its True
Some of the images shown in this vid with the Blonde Girl Chick are King Arthur, Okita Souji, Mysterious Heroine X, Mordred, Nero etc...
that's because in FGO they are many Servants and its so confusing at first. here are some numbers
Main Classes
50 Sabers Servants
47 Archer Servants
46 Lancer Servants
43 Rider Servants
48 Caster Servants
44 Assassin Servants
41 Berserker Servants
Extra Classes
16 Ruler Servants
14 Avenger Servants
5 Moon Cancer Servants
15 Alter Ego Servants
13 Foreigner Servants
6 Pretender Servants
6 Beast Servants (But 5 of them are NPC Bosses and the other 1 is Playable Servant)
in Total 394 Current Servants in the Game (JP Version) because in English/NA Version they are 2 years behind JP)
is There a difference between FGO and Fate Stay night/Fate Zero/Unlimited Bladeworks/ all Fate Franchise?
= FGO is Different between those Show, but All Servants in the Fate Series are all in FGO and Summonable in the Game
if you are going to watch all of the Noble Phantasm, some videos have the Names of the Servants and classes on the title video :) I saw some reactors reacting to it but they didn't know the name of the servants because they didn't read the title
The watch order is easily the most frustrating thing about the fanbase honestly start where you want to start Fate zero and Fate UBW are both good starting off points
Yes, that a good starting point
No prequels are watched last
@@lop90ful1 perfect example no one can be happy watch what you feel like I have seen SOOO many people not watch fate because of all the damn arguing on what to start with its mad fucking annoying

And I still feel to this day that the end of Zero is one of the best moments in the franchise and witnessing it first time without knowing its about to happen is a experience you can't get otherwise

sorry for the bad english
3:00 fun thing about that logic, about each series spoiling each other is, if you watch it without knowing anything about them, you won't get spoiled.
The spoiler they probably talk about is when everything clicks while you're watching, which for me, feels great, I don't know why people gets frustrated at that.
Gotta watch gigguk's long version! It is actually helpful and not just satire!
Got it!
it sounds complex but once you are in its SO amazing..amazing lore ,epic fights ,unforgettable characters and if you want more...you know there is ALWAYS more xD its basically endless amount of content and also if you love myths (like i do) its even more hype..also i will join others and say that you need to see long version its a little bit less meme like
Honestly, reading your guys' comments is really making me realize how unique Fate is.
Fate/stay night unlimited blade works
Fate/stay night heaven's feel (3 movies)
you can also watch fate/stay night (2006) first before these two, its important but its just not very well adapted. After these watch whatever you want. There are a lot of spinoffs - Fate/zero, Lord el melloi case files, Fate/Apocrypha, Fate/Extra last encore, Fate/ kaleid Liner Prisma Illya, Fate/Strange Fake, Fate/grand order, Today's menu for Emiya family, Carnival Phantasm, Fate/ Grand carnival. you willl also require fate/grand order watch order.
Fate/grand order watch order:
Fgo: First order
Fgo: camelot (2 movies)
Fgo: Babylonia
FGO: solomon
Fgo: moonlight lostroom
2:20 sure, movies are fine, but it cuts a lot of context
The lore is complicated in the Fate Series considering it has it's own universe called the Nasuverse and everything in the verse is canon, I mean everything is canon including different timelines
ooooh Noble phantasm video LESGOO
Gigguks vid is more for satire but as a Fate fan I'd say the best watch order for the main series is
Fate stay night
Ubw
Heavens feel
Zero
Apocrypha, Fgo, Case Files, and Strange Fake, can be watched in whatever order as they're stand alone titles
Carnival phantasm can also be watched whenever as it's a huge meme, but it's funnier with context of the franchise as a whole.
So mainly because of that last point I can't bring myself to recommend it first despite it being a pretty solid prequel in other areas.
you must see the long version from Gigguk for more understanding.
Noted. I'll be checking that out later this week so keep an eye out for that!
Everyone will tell you to check out the long version. You can if you want but keep in mind its not that good for real beginners who haven't seen Fate at all.
this is just ment to be a joke on how it is convoluted fate can be but once you start you can understand it's not that complicated, he just played it up complicated parts to make it entertaining
EDIT: also I have commented the comprehensive watch order on your top 10 fate fights video if you want i can mention it here too
I think that if you want to watch Fate, then turn on what interests you in terms of genre. If you like the world, pieces of lore or characters so much that you want more, you can always come back. Books, games and anime based on Fate will not disappear anywhere. Just stop worrying about viewing it correctly.
A very unique and interesting take. Thanks!

Bruh, I love that you're in it for the Lore but duuuuuuuude.......ARE YOU SURE ABOUT JUMPING DOWN THIS RABBIT HOLE???
with you guys by my side, I'M READY TO DIVE IN THE NASUVERSE
This was so fun to watch 🤣
Imagine someday we can recommend a starting point
Fate Stay Night: Fate - Avalon
Ironically
Despite Prisma ilya being called Lesbian loli kissing the anime. The movie
Oath under snow is my second favorite movie on fate series.
Now for the long version
As a fan who has been following series for years now let me tell you - new fans should start by watching 2006 version, it is not as bad as people label it (Gigguk probably never watched it either) and it serves as a good introduction.
UBW, FZ and HF have been written well but with the assumption you already watched Fate and you know the basics of the universe and some of the characters.
If you're not afraid or just don't care about spoilers to HF (Heavens feel) movies and like things in chronological (storywise) order - watch Zero first without a doubt. My personal order of watching was: F/Z --- Unlimited Blade works (Ufotable) --- Heaven's feel movies
But you know what? Watch this however the hell you want.
hey! just to be clear, even im quite confused lol, but honestly watching fate doesnt need a watch order except for the fate grand order series as it actually have one.
but obviously there is a starting point, that being either fate/zero as everybody say or the 2014 ufotable TV adaptation of fate/stay night ubw
and honestly i agree fate/zero is boring most of the time 💀even now i still havent finish it at all, so take that as you will, the fate/stay night ubw i mention above is definitely the way as it had a great pacing and fight altogether, after watching the starting anime for fate by then you could watch any of the fate series honestly as like half of the series isnt correlated/just simply a new one, or you didnt even need to finish it, but as long as you understand the concept of the whole thing it will all make sense.
all of the watch order are only if you want to optimize your knowledge about literally everything in the series which is yk good? but very bothersome, might as well just read a novel by then 💀💀💀
If u feel confused, watch the long version😂
You should probably go
Fate stay night ubw then fate zero then heavens feel then fate strange fake and everything else is basically optional
Fate is just Japanese Marvel/DC, you are correct, it's just a multiverse. You don't need to go through everything to get into it, like no one really gets into MCU as much as Disney wants us to believe there are people like that.
So using the MCU analogy,
Fate Stay Night UBW would be the equivalent of like Iron Man movies
Fate Zero would be like Captain America, since he is the first Avenger and the prequel
Fate Extra would be like Guardians of the Galaxy
Fate Apocrypha would be like Sony Spiderman that only sort of crossovers to the MCU but not really. The argument can be made that it is more like Thor in some respects.
Fate Grand Order would be like Avengers Endgame
I love that you used the MCU as a analogy
The first time I saw fate zero, I also got bored and discarded it, on the third try months later I continued watching it after the first episode and it was worth every damn second, masterpiece and it's worth starting with zero, Fate Zero is one of the best animes that exist.
friend begins with "fate zero", then ""fate stay night ubw" (2014--2015) or "fate stay night" (2006), and at the end with ""fate stay night heavans feel" (3 movies).
i think i got more confused now
don't worry, the latest video I dropped will help you more
I know the feeling bro lol
if youre asking (even if not) "yes" everything is canon even the loli girls kissing
it says "trying to understand" not "for understand" lol
Check out Gigguk 30 min. Video that explains the entire fate series slash timeline
Alrighty! Stay tuned for that one
If you think that the Fate version of Mordred's conception is fucked up, you'll be surprised about the real thing.
Because gender swapping aside, that did happen in the actual arthurian legend too... except the woman who forced herself on him (while he was unconscious due to being drugged by the way) being his sister.
They are still sisters in Fate

Please watch the FGO memorial movie its the best animation youve ever seen
I actually did watch that as well as many other FGO animations!
Here's the video where you can find all of them: ruclips.net/video/IKC4TKBGvuY/видео.htmlsi=3pANJtPPZKE_e9e-
Just watch the long version, more understandable. Seriously 😂
The others you can probably just ignore or try out later if you really love the concept and world building, but they are all pretty much step down in my opinion.
well fate=multiverse
Though because you're familiar with gacha games maybe half of those question would be self explanatory to you
All of Fate is canon this includes the doujins
This is a kinda a joke video😂 Please
Watch "explaining the entire Fate series in 30 minutes" by gigguk
UBW the series is the better choice if you want to see amazing animation by UFOtable. The movie version isn't as good.
@@KFP_Prophet stand proud, you cooked.
Watch fate zero and unlimited blade works and then the movies, after that do what ever you want

1. Fate/zero
2. Fate/stay night Unlimited Blades Works
3. Fate/stay night Heavens Feel
4. Whatever else you want
And to answer your question, the reason why saber is referred to as a king and her daughter is referred to as her son is because only males are generally accepted to be the rulers of a country at that point in time, so saber has to pretend to be a man to become a ruler and mordred chose to be referred to as a son to be elligible as a successor to the throne.
wait so does "saber" quite literally have a johnson or does she pretend to have one since only men can be sabers (?)
Oh there's no "rewatch" for me cuz I've never even seen anything past the first episode of fate zero 😂 but yes I definitely need to start watching it
Just start with Unlimited Blade Work dude:
- it's explain the universe
- have good animation
- it have a pretty light theme
Then watch Fate Zero and after all of that, it's heaven's feel
But be aware, you may want to rewatch one of these 3 series when you have better understanding.
Next entry I recommend is Fate Apocrypha
Maybe fate grand order the animation :
- fate grand order 1st order
- fate grand order Camelot
- fate grand order Babylonia
The ones I don't recommend are :
- fate extra (full of BS and crappy adaptation)
- fate Prisma Cosmos Iliya (FBI open up)
Fate zero
Fate stay night unlimited blade works
Fate stay night heaven's feel movie 1 and 2 and 3
Fate apocrypha
Fate grand order first order
Fate grand order Camelot 1 and 2
Fate grand order Babylonia
Fate grand order Solomon
Fate extra last encore
Fate strange fake ( for now it's just 1 movie )
This is the only way to watch it 🤠
And if you want you can watch these too
Fate prototype
Fate garden of sinners
Fate ........ I don't remember this one 😂
TBH this is just a parody and doesn't really help. Everyone has their own opinion and will fight on what to watch so it's hard to agree but let me try and help.
Want Edgy anime with great animation? Start with Fate/Zero
Want good plot with PEAK animation (not edgy much)? start with UBW
After watching both Fate/Zero and UBW in any order watch the movies of Heaven's Feel (all of them are out by now)
then watch whatever the heck you want.
Why do youtubers who want to enter the fate series have to watch gigguk's tutorial videos?
You are the exact audience for that gigguk video lmao, but yeah its honestly not that complicated if you just want to enjoy it, but if the first 20 minutes of fate zero already make you feel bored then the rest wont help (like for real, zero is like the better entry level, the other is also alot of talking)
Just one thing tho, dont watch the studio deen one, its suck, stick with the ufotable one
Its still kinda Double edge sword since that mean if you don't know the character beforehand, you might not care about them at all in fate, but fate like to add some of their own twist on it (can be quite whacky one, like the whole "king" Arthur being female Is just their way to make her story more tragic since people wont aknowledge her as king since she is female and whatnot)
if you want to watch fate series like me who doesn't care anything as long as its kinda/all connected to the story in anime series then its safe bet to watch this in order.
series:
fate apocrypha
fate zero
fate zero 2nd season
FATE/STAY NIGHT: UNLIMITED BLADE WORKS (TV)
FATE/STAY NIGHT: UNLIMITED BLADE WORKS (TV) 2nd season
Lord El-Melloi II's Case Files: Rail Zeppelin Grace Note
other than this are either spinoff, different series, different routes(plot)
You do not want the ubw movie trust me its worse in evrey way possible they skip so much, it’s unwatchable
If you want the best experience it’s Zero, UBW, the strange fake
Then after that you can watch anything else since apart from the Original UBW and Heavens Feel every thing else has for the most part different servants and characters
Ahh that makes much more sense. I didn't know Bladeworks would have heavy spoilers for fate/zero
@CrypticBoss While Zero came out after UBW, it is a prequel to UBW.
@@CrypticBoss zero spoils heaven's feel which is part of the original story
But IT IS a lot of reading so if it discourages you, then watching anime is fine
the start point of anime is confusing because of the nature of anime adaptation.
the Fate Stay Night Visual Novel is basically the complete package, then they make the Fate Zero novel as a "filler" to the FSN backstory
but because adaptation in becoming anime is a mumble jumble it's becoming weird to choose a good point to start
If you want to watch anime only, then yes watch Zero first then unlimited blade works is kinda better start
Are these other works important?
well I ask you is Spiderman important? Is Hulk not important? is Thor important?
they are not directly connected to main original story because they are almost completely different stories but still in the same multiverse
FGO is basically the Avengers version of Fate (kinda)
Just start with Fate Apocrypha, it's more easier to understand, although it's non canon but it caters to a more action oriented casual audience who wants to start with the Fate universe. The anime adaptations ofFate Grand Order is also a great starting point.
Yes, Fate is a complete clusterf*ck ngl. Hopefully, I didn't confuse even more
The reason why I recommend you start witheitherApocrypha or Grand Order, it's because of it's low barrier to entry to the lore of Fate as a whole.
Ez-way : Zero->UBW then watch whatever u want
3:29 ok lemme help you
Zero is the prequel made after the original VN stay night
VN have multiple routes(3 different ways the story can go)
Zero was made to be read/watched after all 3 routes in the og VN
As it assumes you already know a big part of the lore and the plot twists and plot points of stay night
Watching it first will ruin ALOT of stay night
And it spoils the most out of the third route heavens feel
Yet ufotable decided to adapt zero before stay night(for some reason) and adapted the second and third route of stay night after it(the first route of stay night was already adapted by studio deen in 2006)
Realisticly the best way to experience fate would be to read the og VN first
As for the anime
The 2006 adaptation
UBW
And heavens feel
And than zero
As for fate spinoffs the order doesnt matter too much
7:25 ok here is a thing
Fate does not censor what happens in the legends of heroes
I repeat
It will NOT censor any fucked up details regardless of how dark they are
5:08 no
The main story is completed in stay night 3 routes
The rest is extra
You should watch gigukk "badly explaining all of fate" video
Its the middle version
just dropped a video on that here you go! ruclips.net/video/BRiGXWKb_rM/видео.htmlsi=VyqjIOQoqsloBWuV
Ok lemme make this clear
The order is easy
Stay night 2006(first route)
Stay night unlimited blade works(second route)
Stay night heavens feel(third route)
Than anything else
