The T-Rex Replica Delay pedal is the most natural sounding delay pedal we've run across to date. In a world where digital is a bad word, T-Rex has broken the boundaries and designed a pedal that can fool almost any ear. The Replica features 24-bit Burr Brown AD/DA converters that keep every nuance of the signal intact and sparkling clean. Featuring a tap tempo switch and delay up to 1550ms, the T-Rex Replica Delay pedal also gives you a Subdivision switch for triplet delays and a Brown switch for a high cut filter on the delays.
The T-Rex Replica Delay pedal had me fooled. I truly thought that no digital delay on the planet could sound as natural as this. With the Brown switch engaged, the Replica gives you warm almost lo-fi sounding delay repeats that sound analog. The 24-bit Burr Brown converters are some of the highest quality you can get and so is the tone of the Replica. The Subdivision knob works with the tap tempo to give you a triplet delay that works well with funk or country. For the highest quality digital delay found in a stompbox, check out the T-Rex Replica Delay pedal.
As a professional Los Angeles lead-rhythm working guitarist,I've found the T-Rex Replica is the best delay units I've owned;and have used it for many tracking sessions and tours for sure...
Also engineer/creator Mr.Sebastian Jensen, and the people at T-Rex Engineering are truly very kind to working musicians throughout the world;and indeed very helpful.
This pedal is amazing, when i bought it i just played and fooled around with it for three hours.
Sounds insanely good!
I bought this pedal yesterday, after coparing it to many other digital delays. It's BY FAR the cone with clearest repeats and pristine hi-fi delay sounds. It's even outrageous how good tis pedal is. Can't even believe that I spent 400 bucks on a pedal... =D
Oh and for those who (still) haven't figured out the subdivision button! You have to press the button and then set a tempo with the tap switch. It doens't work on its own.
So NO your pedal isn't broken. :-)
The converter inside is a Burr-Brown one, if I am not mistaken (of the well known audiophile quality components brand). And the pedal is very expensive, but very simple to use and a favourite of players like Santana, Gary Moore etc.
That's correct, but don't forget that effect loops are a relatively recent addition to guitar amps. Echos sounded just fine when used with old amps by Page, Hendrix etc. that didn't have an effects loop.
Time factor from eventide has a feature that lets the "trail" of the delay stays a little more when you shut it off... is superb
I have had my dl4 for about four years. for the first two years it was perfect. there's so much that you can do with it. there's the flexibility of the three presets, stereo amplifier and expression pedal capabilities, the looper, it's true bypass, and sound quality is great. the only problem mine has had is that the footswitches completely suck. they stick frequently and I expect someday they will give out altogether. hopefull not for a few more years. other than though, it's a great pedal.
That brown switch is AMAZING!
i am a great gilmour fan i use boss dd20, a boss dd2 (gilmour use dd2 on the division bell album and in his cornish pedalboard, cornish TES is a doss dd2 modded)
but my favourite delay is T.rex Replica delay replica it's magic(gilmour use it in on an island tour in 2006!
It's called "ducking". May be a feature on several new delay pedals. We will be offering that type of delay pedal and feature in 2014. Think of 'ducking' like the delay sound ducks out of the way when you play fast. or have a lot of information going through the delay. When you stop playing the delays ring through as normal.

I've had my Boss DD-20 Giga ($220) for a good while now. It's straight forward delay, but it's VERY reliable and tweakable, has four easily accessible presets, ten modes (like digital, analog, tape, pan, smooth, etc), and different pedal configurations to make it a great live pedal (just buy the FS-5U with it). I love the tap tempo subdivisions where you tap quarter notes and it comes out dotted eighths (or like 8 other diff options). It sounds awesome too.
This is the delay John Mayer has on his board currently. Sick!
@LEOJATT good question, sound out of this world at these times
yeah,he played on G&L Legacy,great guitar :)
The best thing is that its Gilmour aproved
great demo.
the Dl4 is a cool pedal, but I would necessarily recommend it for 'normal' sounds. I have one and I use the Lo Res, Digital w/ Mod, and Tape Echo.
some pedals have a FEATURE that aloows the delay signal to reamin afetr the pedal switches off... some have it, some dont
check out t TC electronics for awesome warm sound for digital delay
they would probably have their fuzz boxes going before the delay or echo unit im guessing but yes it wouldnt explain the natural amp distortion that they cranked out
Stephen Malkmus approved.
No, it's digital but made to sound warm like an analog delay.
Oh thaks from a daily watcher :)
please, I-d love to know if you turn the tempo knob it does pitch shift
Thanks again
It is nice feature which, like topicrass wrote, line6 has it too (I play with Line6 ToneCore EchoPark for few years). But does this T-Rex pedal has? I'm serious interested in this pedal.
David Gilmour from Pink Floyd has used this pedal.
THANKS FOR THIS
Could you review the Moog MF-105 MoogerFooger Bass MuRF? Heard so many good things about it... But I can't find any good demo!
Thanks! Could you review the Diamond Memory Lane delay pedal? I've heard many good things about it
I just wish there was modulation.
The T-Rex Replica looks just right for me.
Too bad itt's a little expensive.
oh man... 7:20 makes me want one SOOOO bad!!!!!!!!
So this thing is both a digital sounding and a analog sounding delay yes?
hi, why don't you test delay pedals with gain on? I need a delay unit that won't mess with definition when playing fast leads. Actually, what I need is a delay stays in the back when you are playing fast, and goes up front when you slow down or stop. is there such a thing? thanks a lot
Wenn ich nur mal im Lotto gewinnen könnte das wäre schön!!!
how does he play the guitar at 7:20 - 7:25?? sounds really cool
how does this stack up against the H&K Replex as far as tape delay sounds? Any opinions?
No, the repeats stay clean.
love the name
Does this pedal oscillate or make pitch shifting effecs like an analog delay?
@merlozeppelin I can only think of a production technique - it requires the use of a delay and a compressor after it. This way, when you slow down, the compressor has the time to release and this will let the delay come up more.
I can't think of anything else, sorry. ;-)
It's a volume swell using the guitars volume control.
the trex replica is digatal too, genius
It is expensive but sounds like its nearly worth the money.
How do I set it to 420 milliseconds? How do I even know how fast that is?
what´s the deiference between an echo and a delay pedal?
please does anyone knows which delay pedal is good for leads?most pedals i've tried alterated the sound when i was playing with distortion(lack of definition)
thanks for your advices!
we're going wrong by cream!
Anybody having a problem with this pedal adding a bit of distoryion. I can't seem to get that little bitt of overdrive out of it.
that doesnt happen with other delay-reverb pedals
Problem: Delay cuts out instantly when pedal is turned off. Just thought everyone should know.
hey, can anybody help me out here?
I'm searching for a real Pink Floyd-ish sound delay, does anyone have suggestions?
(Let's say there is no pricelimit.)
Thanks
@topperspoppers
I think if Batio uses this....it really is :)
Does anyone know if this uses a 9 or 12v power supply?
it sounds good but all the modes sounded the same to me
I don't see the point of this delay ¿24 bits to make it warm sounding? I don't get it. As for the filter knob you can filter the bass or trebble you want with say a EH Memory Man Hazarai or a Boss DD-20 (appart of modulation, looping...). I have a Carl Martin Echotone, the tap tempo is faulty (what a great pitty) but the sound... that's a Brilliant tape simulation, just watch the PGS demo. Appart from the high roll off I don't see any tape quality in this Replica hype
dont think these are really worth £319.00 .for what you can get out there today for around the same price you can buy the empress superdealay..eventide timefactor..or the pigtronix echolution which offer tons more opitions and delay sounds and setting not forgetting the ray of switches they all have and smarter looking..personally in my view this should only sell for £150.00
This is great sounding, but boy its expensive,,,
I dont get the "advantage" to a dry signal out and a wet signal out. The Satriana Time Machine is the same way...what a shame there isnt 2 stereo outs to run through 2 amps for lush separation. I would think most running in stereo would much prefer stereo delay to this setup. Sounds good otherwise but I wouldnt buy it.
it's awesome but it's so expensive
Is this analog Delay or Digital Delay?
@thebigdiegowski amen
Yeah Dan "pothead" augost isnt a good reviewer
"mkay lets take look of whats in this uber cool cardboard box, look at the pretty colors"
I think i know where you're coming from....good pedal, but geesh...they shouldn't call it a replica!!!..LOL!...oh yeah..T-Rex was massively into midi......ya know!
2:15 until 2: 35
tabs please
My DD-6 sucks compared to this.
And won't sound anywhere near as good.
sounds digital. sorry...
i dont know why it costs so much money. you can get the same digital analog like tones for half the price with tech 21 boost dla..
Santana uses this pedal.
