I don’t know why they can’t seem to get the begins suit. Must be lack of demand? I know tdk is the more popular movie and look, but I’ve always preferred this suit. I think I’ll do as others have said and wait for a discount on this guy
@@TheBatman39 that’s what I’m waiting/hoping for. And then watch HT finally do one right and release it in response to try and compete with it. It still won’t be as good, since HT can’t compete with Inart. But it’s amusing to watch them try.
@@en6853 because HT doesn’t give a shit about BB. They figure as long as they continue to half-ass it and figures still sell, why do anything to improve it? I like both suits but BB is my favorite movie and HT has treated it like rubbish.
@@lordbaldohomerobody size about the same it seems to me. But the suit is thicker and bunches up more when you move the joints. And it doesn’t fit well. There’s clearly “air pockets” between the suit and body.
He looks pretty decent in the first night out look gloss aside. I might pick one up for that look when it's heavily discounted. I did see someone used Chalk dust with good affect rather than alcohol rub which won't damage the suit
It likely will be heavily discounted. That’s likely a smart move to wait. It’s normally what I would do but I jumped on this one immediately since this was BB and I expected it to be so much better than it was
How long is the cape? Was wondering if there is a short or long drape Jaxon cape option - I want the latter. I saw one on DeanKnight’s videos and it looks there is a good 3 or 4 inches extra below the boot.
The old version is definitely the better version. I would take the newer version strip everything off it that's not going to be matte black. And spray it with a matte finish. That will beat any sort of rubbing alcohol that you would have to manually remove the gloss from the suit. That's just my opinion and what I would do
That’s the million dollar question. Not sure why they made a lot of the decisions they made here. I’m wondering if they just used the same material they used on the Batman Forever figure, but I won’t know until I get that one in hand. You’re better off getting the old one; make sure you ask the seller if it has the ankle issue or not. Better yet, get the quarter scale version if you can manage it.
@@BigDaddyMacc it’s the HT Toyfairs exclusive from 2011. The new one is basically the same as that one except the suit is more durable and articulation is better. And the new one does not come with the grappling gun which makes no sense. On the old one here I also had a custom cape on it.
@@figureholicsanonymous8266 I like the old one better. I got the Hot Toys Batman DX02 Dark Knight. Im thinking of getting Hot Toys BATMAN The Dark Knight Rises DX19
@@BigDaddyMacc the old one has bad ankles-I’ve owned it three separate times and they’ve all had ankle breakage issues. The new one which you see in the video was initially terrible, because of the dark gloss, but they corrected it on subsequent batches and it now looks better, but it’s still mainly just a better-articulated rerelease of the original, with no improvements made to the cowl. I have Jaxon’s custom cowl on the way for mine, and a custom cape from OG customs. That’ll be my next video. Can’t go wrong with the DX19. I have that one and the DX12, which I still like because I’m displaying it with the older BW headsculpt. The DX12 still holds up well after all these years, while the DX19 is nonetheless an overall improvement. Great thing for newer collectors about HT Dark Knight Batman figures is that they’ve made so many that value has plummeted, so while the DX19 sold out and started to climb in value, it plummeted again once they announced the new armory. So you can get a great figure for probably $100+ under retail.
I think they’re both the same body. It’s the texturing on the suit that’s radically different. The new body has tighter joints though, and better ankles. It’s hard to know for sure because the first one is so much older-that may be why the joints are weaker. It tracks with what we’ve seen regarding HT’s attitude/behavior towards this figure that they would just merely reuse the original body and not invest in a new one.
A little bulkier, mainly because of the suit. One of the other reviewers mentioned “air pockets” in the suit because it’s oversized and you can feel air between it and the body.

I just mailed mine back to sideshow. Didn't even open it.
Can’t say I blame you. I’d be curious to know how many returns Sideshow will take on this overall.
I requested a return as well. Collectors needs to speak up! This is a shame. Btw, old ver. Looks much better

Check out the unreal customs video where they use tape to remove the shine off a suit…

Awesome content. 1/4 Batman Begins all day long. I know apples to oranges but Hot Toys 1/4 is king 🤴
HT 1/4 BB=favorite thing in my collection (see my thumbnail 😂)
The gauntlets on the Takara one are better looking IMO.

Yep, see the short I posted right after this. That’s how I’ll be displaying it from now on.

Yeah you have this looking as good as it can possibly look without dumping more money into a custom cowl.
Those were my thoughts exactly. I may get a new custom cowl anyway, but we’ll see.
Is the old Bruce/Batman compatible with the DX12 headsculpt? Sorry for the question that might be obvious.
What's with the gloss finish on the new fig? I probably prefer the old one better, although the old figure had the dodgy foot peg connection issue.

Hot Toys only seems to put stock into Star Wars these days…….real shame!
I thought there would be a big height difference between the new one and 2012 but doesn't look like there is much in it ?

I’d pay $50.00 at best. Got my refund once I seen how terrible the Batman Begins figure was
Wow the new one looks like a cheap version. Aside from the head sculpt, the suit and the belt look trash

Placing cotton balls inside, the suit will help fill it out or remove space…
